NBC Considering Giving 10pm/9pm Back To Affiliates
Glimmer replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
And I get the vibe ABC will rely on ABC News more rather than fully give up 10pm (they already produce a lot of summer/midseason filler for the network) -
Judging from the social media reaction, the audience (regardless of the professionalism of the event) is firmly on Mark's side, which will probably help in his efforts to find work. Gonna be interesting to see what steps KTLA takes to regain audience trust after this clusterflust.

For the last 4 weeks of the midterms (October 10-November 8), Jake Tapper will be anchoring the 9pm hour with Laura Coates and Alisyn Camerota co-anchoring two hours at 10pm. At the same time, John Berman and Brianna Keilar will be leaving New Day to co-anchor Tapper’s show, The Lead. No word on if these moves are permanent but I’ll be shocked if they’re not.

KCBS 2/KCAL 9 - CBS Los Angeles News Thread
Glimmer replied to Roadrunner's topic in Los Angeles News
Definitely speaks volumes as to how seriously CBS is taking this revamp; Yuccas is a bit of a rising star at CBS News and she'll be continuing as a west coast correspondent as well -
Kind of a risk to blow up primetime further when they still haven’t filled 9pm permanently yet, but sometimes it needs to be done.

This feels like the move of a station on its last legs.

KCBS 2/KCAL 9 - CBS Los Angeles News Thread
Glimmer replied to Roadrunner's topic in Los Angeles News
In a huge and wild shift, KCBS is taking the east coast feed of CBS Mornings and moving most of its morning newscast to KCAL, where it’ll now run from 4am-11am, with a 6am simulcast on KCBS bridging the CBS Mornings double run https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/kcal-morning-news-first-kcbs-mornings-1235314324/ -

No, but I wonder who’ll be the first to change things up now that the market leader is in the 4pm game

I wouldn’t be surprised if they went the route of the other stations in town and had Ravi anchor solo

It's very clear to me the problem isn't Norah; it's the nature of the evening news and CBS's position in it. They're always going to be third place no matter who they put in that chair.

I imagine it’ll end up being a split evening shift between Ramon and Kleist once the 4pm newscast launches.

CBS confirms new format, name for CBS Mornings From the article: Starting September 7, the entire CBS morning schedule will be treated as a larger franchise, with weekdays and Saturdays featuring some of the in-depth and longform features for which the Sunday show — a TV-news institution — is best known. Even the popular trumpet fanfare that greets viewers of “Sunday Morning” will find its way to its counterparts. “There is a real affection for that program,” says Khemlani. CBS is counting on the sound of that horn to lure new viewers in an era when doing so has become a tougher task. “We are essentially building a franchise that is seven days a week,” he adds.

Poppy Harlow is taking a sabbatical from her midday show to pursue a masters degree from Yale Law School. She’ll return to her program full-time next spring and has a show in development at CNN Plus, but will make occasional appearances in the interim (including holiday fill-in work).
