  1. Oh yeah, I forgot. I just heard from what Erica and Nicole said this morning. Speaking of the mornings situation, it's Nicole. I'm sure it's a schedule like that, but from the past few days I've watched, Erica was joined by Nicole.
  2. When I watched the morning news, they announced that Pat's final broadcast is at Noon today. You guys should watch.
  3. Ha. I don't think GMA is going to do anything crazy to gain back the A25-54 crown. Besides, it's still the leader in Viewers. And it's only been a month--GMA probably could take it back soon. Or Today could finally win some ratings marker in a while. Give it time. We'll see from here.
  4. WHAT THE HECK, CHANNEL 4? or (How to confuse viewers by sort-of removing the same logo after 33 years of great service)
  5. Jim Gardner is anchoring the 10pm on WPHL tonight. Something we've never pictured happening is happening.
  6. I really can't stand when anchors of news programs use the words "that" and "those" when referring to a story at the top. It kinda infuriates me when they say them as if it's something really bad, even if the story isn't something bad. Even if/when the story is about a person or a thing, they use "that" or "those". Also, they don't say "the"; not more than "that" or "those", or even just as much. That's why I'm annoyed at this most of the time. Really can't stand it.
  7. ^^Great job with the video. I love this new look. So soft and fuzzy, yet so serious and powerful. After watching this the first time, I immediately loved this one more than the last one. The logo and L3s are the best parts. Really fits the tone of this new era for Muir and his program. I do realize that it does have a touch of Nightly News in it, especially in the globe map, "small loading text" and use of squares. Other than that resemblance, this is a great update.
  8. I love the logo; it reminds me of one of the many used during the Peter Jennings era and the first logo used during Diane Sawyer's run. Very simple, but effective.
  9. I love the new-look CBS News early-morning programs. Especially the CBS (This) Morning News.
  10. Kathy Orr finally made her debut on 29. She is just as great as she was on her last day on KYW. They were stupid to drop her.
  11. Wow, these look really nice. Took the bright color and gradients out for a flatter, simpler look. Good job there. Although the placement of the title looks weird to me. I like the wording as this: CBS THIS MORNING Overall, it's a great change.
  12. A great week for news sets! Just look at WWBT and KTRK.
  13. Great! Took them long enough. I know, right? I mean... Sharrie is a really good anchor/reporter and seems great enough for the job. Congrats to her for the promotion.
  14. I love this new look of Today. The white colors and palette make it (obviously) much more brighter and clearer; it's like a window was covered up this whole time, and they finally released the curtain. The couch area is the best part. The whites show off the most, and and the subtle hint of orange make it so much better than under the look of the last design. And, I'll be honest. I love and hate the new desk. I actually loved the last desk for how uniquely wooden it was, and how the logo looked etched in it. This one is really nice, but I felt some type of envy towards it. And when I first saw it, it looked like the colored part was a reddish color, other than orange. The Today logo looks really nice, and is a good reprise of the 2006 desk. And the smaller size is oddly nice. The Orange Room is very nice under the expansion. The white look is oddly cool, but there should've been some of the namesake color in there, which makes it odd. Also, there are new on-screen graphics (other than the L3) which look really good. At the end of the day, this new-look Today is so great. The look around is just perfect and reminds me fondly of the 2006 set, but without the sterility and dullness of it, thanks to the pops of Orange all around. I do think it needs a little more Orange in places of White, but other than that, it's awesome.
  15. I liked the changes made at the beginning of the season: Nicolle, Rosie P., Rosie O's return (yes, even thar), the new set, and the updated theme. I wish that theme stayed, and tha Nicolle never left, but I'm looking forward to Joy's return and what this new season will bring. And I loved this version of the theme. Miles more than the one they used for seven seasons. So smooth, so catchy and so awesome.
  16. Hotchie Motchie!
  17. More details are emerging from NBC News itself. Here's the news from NewscastStudio: http://www.newscaststudio.com/2015/08/31/more-today-studio-1a-renovation-details-emerge/?utm_source=FB&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=FBPost Most telling: A report that the rotating turntable will remain. The floor is being reworked The wall coverings will be updated The Orange Room is expanding
  18. I understand what you're going at. And in hindsight, I see it now. The orange was a bit too much. I thought a little more blue or white with give the set some balance. I loved the ribbon video wall, the the expanding video wall and the rotating floor. I hope they do a better job with this now-named new set or still-named update. I know it can't please everyone still, I will say I hope this one is a better fit for all of us to look at.
  19. Rest in Peace, Alison Parker and Adam Ward.
  20. Well, Erica knows. And that didn't take long. She revealed during the 7:30 half hour that updates are being done to Studio 1A, which clearly explains the covered windows. Maybe the updated set will be unveiled the upcoming week, or the week after. I'm intrigued now. I guess the accident is that the the updates are coming in 1+ year too early? heh.
  21. Good for Katie. The comments the negative viewers (aka "haters") said were, while possible because of their personal opinion, were inappropriate, immature and downright stupid. It's natural for a woman to gain weight and look more bloated while pregnant; how is the baby supposed to have the room to grow in his/her/their mother's stomach? I feel like they don't have kids themselves to say those comments--but it still makes no sense to say such things to a pregnant woman, because there was still a time where they witnessed a woman getting pregnant and/or giving birth. Her response was classy and powerful. She didn't have to respond to the idiots who said that crap, but I'm happy for her that she did. She's going to have people supporting her and her twin girls, which I'm happy for her for having. They will have a happy, loving life with a mom as strong-will and smart like Katie. And another thing: how does a woman look like a sausage in casing?
  22. There is another article about MCTYW, this time by BillyPenn.com. http://billypenn.com/2015/08/12/phillys-action-news-theme-song-has-survived-10-presidential-elections-and-20-olympic-games-and-isnt-going-anywhere/ It's pretty much nearly the same as the NSC article, but features a lot more to read, and also features this great and interesting piece of trivia: The vocals of the theme were by The Hillside Singers, best known as the people who song the song featured in Coca-Cola's most iconic "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke" commercial. That just blew my mind--and it makes this theme sound even more iconic.
  23. I think it's obviously because many viewers complained about it, saying it wasn't the version "they grew up with" or "they knew and loved". I don't this version was even bad, but I could agree with them to that point. I was surprised when I read how long it took until it was removed. The article said it was taken down after three days. I thought it was five days from years of reading the station's article on Wikipedia. But it said that too, to my shock and frustration. I guess that's the real truth now.
  24. NewscastStudio did an article spotlighting Action News' trademark and iconic theme "Move Closer to Your World". http://www.newscaststudio.com/2015/08/17/why-philly-station-still-uses-iconic-theme-music/?utm_source=FB&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=FBPost It's a good brief article featuring its history and mentions this: "Listening to the music today, it’s definitely lacks the crisp audio quality we’re used to hearing today and the lyrics may border on corny to some, but the song definitely has a place in the hearts of the station’s viewers. " I agree with all it says here, although I never found the lyrics even near corny in my life to begin with.
  25. Remember when I mentioned once that Matt once fill-in anchored a weekend morning newscast? Yep, now Tamala's taking a turn too. She's joining Eva and filling in for Nydia this morning.
