  1. And Liz is back from vacation this week so this now makes even less sense.
  2. One has to wonder if these promos were rush ordered by the network because what would be the sense in initially skipping over the 4pm news? I haven’t seen WABC running the promo outside of that first instance but the Chicago update looks much better.
  3. I think WABCs seating arrangements are simply still following a station mandated protocol. Their studio is still covered up to prevent people from gathering to watch which was a COVID protocol put into place last year.
  4. Ha yeah that one. Now admittedly I’m being a nitpick, but it also seems disjointed to create a promo using the wrong talent. Liz is away and Bill is anchoring solo at 6 so why include Sade who doesn’t appear outside of 5 and 11 pm? Again, it’s small but odd things like this are rather common for WABC and it’s starting to get…sloppy?
  5. Is anyone else seeing the promo of the 6pm, WNT and Jeopardy block that advertises Bill and Sade as the 6 pm team?
  6. KTLA has really created one of the most outstanding news products and teams in the country. If I recall, Barbara Beck didn’t appear for the 25th anniversary special either right?
  7. What if we just wait on an announcement instead of taking wild and unfounded guesses every newscast?
  8. I’ve always admired Bret Baier, Martha MacCallum, Bill Hemmer and Chris Wallace for what was a earnest attempt at balanced reporting. As of late they’re starting to show their stripes by entertaining “the steal” conspiracy. Interestingly KDFW often (or at least used to) remind viewers that they’re separate from the FNC.
  9. Is KTLA on a temporary set this morning or are my eyes deceiving me? Edit: they’re not, just an extremely close shot of Lynette and Eric who are also sitting really close to one another.
  10. I always think it’s better for someone other than another anchor to fill-in for medical leaves so that disruption to other newscasts are limited.
  11. Not sure if anyone else is following like I am (lol) but KTLA has closed the gap as of today and their anchors are sitting back at pre-pandemic distance. Edit: actually seems as the it’s just for the morning news. Odd
  12. Interesting. Seems that KTRK, KABC and WABC are still following social distancing guidelines with anchors noticeably spaced across the studio. Weather and sports anchors are stationed in different parts of the studio as well. All this despite the fact that anchors are posting social media photos hugging one another, having guests inside the studio, etc. GMA also seems to be following social distancing guidelines with Ginger and Lara still stationed remotely. Not trying to be that guy but it just seems odd to me considering they’ve all likely been vaccinated for months and aren’t particularly following the same guidelines off the air. The distance is simply not visually appealing. /rant over
  13. Are there any ABC O&O stations going back to their pre-covid set ups and if not, has Disney indicated what standards they’re following? The CDC has removed even the social distancing guidelines for vaccinated groups and the split screens, wide distance between everyone on set, etc. was never been visually appealing. Seems arbitrary to still be doing it at this point.
  14. He seems like a fairly seasoned sports anchor…is Greg Bailey still with the station? They’ve lost Bob Slovak (huge loss) and David Nuno recently.
  15. Similar to my issues with NN, I don’t understand the point in having a desk on set to stand the entire broadcast? Go all-in and make your show a standing active program rather than having a desk that serves zero purpose.
  16. I mean it’s likely who he always was even during his GDNY days. People don’t just suddenly become racist morons, they just stop trying to hide their true feelings.
  17. I think one of Sam’s primary asks was to work 4 days a week. He’s mentioned the importance of it a number of times because his significant other is based in Florida (or at least was when he returned).
  18. It’s also remarkable how much the personalities bloom when they jump to KTLA. Who would have know that Chris Schuable was as funny. Henry DiCarlo is a completely different personality than his days on CBS 2.
  19. I’ve loved Ilona from her first day at channel 13 In 2004 or 2005. She’s one of the best.
  20. Elex Michaelson at KTTV comes to mind (although his style is LA through and through) especially since KTTV isn’t particularly strong.
  21. Thanks for this, I had to make sure sure I wasn’t crazy and misremembering her send-off. Although I don’t remember if her comments were live or pre-recorded, the farewell was pretty nice considering the circumstances. I don’t understand when WABC became the bad guy in their split as many are suggesting here.
  22. Disagree with this. The morning spot at WABC is deeply coveted and would be the pinnacle of most broadcast careers. I would bet that the 11pm, 6pm and morning show are the most important broadcast. Who should they have displaced on those shows to make her the evening anchor?
  23. I wonder if WNYW would consider adding an 11pm newscast like many Fox O&O stations do.
  24. Great choice. Have they named an 11pm anchor?
  25. KTRK has also recently started doing the same.
