What happens when there are no sister stations in the market though? For example, if something happened in Chattanooga...it's the one Tennessee market that Nexstar is not in.

They should customize the colors though to suit the station and match the logos and the community. -

Smaller market stations don't have the money to go in-house. That said, Gray should hire them to do that package (in colors that suit the stations) company-wide. -
Does BH own any stake in Graham Media, or vice versa?

They should be fortunate the competition is a trainwreck there. -
Is Alan Sealls' non-compete up?

Do non-competes go out the window in such a situation? If KWTV or KOCO had an opening, they could hire him?

Even today, WBTW still destroys WMBF and WPDE?

Gray and CBS get along pretty well so I doubt WBZ would be irked too much.

Also reminds me of the 1990s era logo. -
If it's at 11 pm (10 pm Central), the affiliates would likely scream at that thought. They would be forced to delay local news until 11:30 pm and it would bottle up everything else including late night shows. As for news in the 10 pm (9 pm CT) hour, CBS could make their national news a full hour (or have a nightly extra like a relocated 48 Hours or 60 Minutes) but that would cost CBS an hour of prime time. Would the ratings justify it though? What kind of ratings does CBS network TV get in that hour? That might be something really worth considering. CBS affiliates would be able to have a full hour newscast in the 6 pm hour in all time zones in that scenario.

It may be that they weren't as bad in relative comparison, but yeah they should be getting criticism too. For all our anger at Tegna, at least they were on top of things here.

At least WFAA was on the ball Sunday night as they were quick to get on the air and stay on it (along with KDFW). KTVT was late and less active, which was problematic for a situation with a confirmed large tornado on the ground (would be okay if it was radar indicated), but KXAS definitely took a huge reputation hit there. My letter grades of the coverage: KDFW: A KTVT: C- KXAS: F WFAA: A-

How old were their old graphics? KXII is a Gray legacy station though and not an ex-Raycom station. -

Honestly, the WVLT package would be best for WVUE IMO given the orange/blue tinge on the logo and New Orleans colors (although Gray has never used purple or green that I can tell with this package). -
Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
GoldenShine9 replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
The WHO/KDSM arrangement and the KFVS/KBSI arrange also involve companies who now has a duopoly in the market and they might instead want the advertising dollars for themselves rather than Sinclair in those cases, especially with big political dollars coming in 2020. If Gray acquired another station in Lexington or Morgan Murphy acquired another station in Madison, I could certainly see them moving the news over. Plus I doubt it would be Sinclair pulling the plug there, since Gray (or Morgan Murphy or Nexstar) does the heavy lifting and having an additional station allows them to move it to their own signal. Agreed re: farming out to sister stations. WRLH could easily run its news out of WJLA. -

Not really. They can be friends with smaller companies, but certainly not with their top rivals. -

That seems likely IMO. Would WRLH start its own news department (out of WJLA?) or just go without? -

I wonder how much longer that agreement will last. Gray and Sinclair aren't exactly friends. -

They'll still get annihilated by WCJB in the ratings... -
Are there any LP's laying around in Alpena that WBKB could look into to accommodate it?

Weigel and Gray seem to have good relations too between each other, so this kind of makes sense. Weigel was one of the first buyers for Gray's new show from Greta as well in non-Gray markets.

They should also look at taking the weekend shows on the road too, something like sports shows do (think College GameDay) but with a different idea and all year. Also an 8 am ET start time would be better, to allow more time for local affiliates to do news and a more reasonable time frame if they take it to the west coast. One possible option: 6:00 am (or earlier in the biggest markets) - 8:00 am: Local news (or national feed in smaller markets unable to produce a newscast) 8:00 am - 11:00 am: GMA (3rd hour optional; live ET) - subject to sports pre-emptions especially PT
