  1. It was actually mostly used by the ex-Raycom stations as their brand, later adopted by the Gray legacy stations.
  2. I question the WYMT petition. It's a mountainous area where UHF signals don't move too well - VHF signals, while technically not as strong in the immediate area, penetrate more of eastern Kentucky, and that is an area of high poverty (which explains why the Lexington stations practically ignore the area).
  3. At least 2 longtime anchors from Gray stations have been fired over their refusal to get vaccinated. Dave Platta (Sports Director, WTVM) - https://www.wtvm.com/2021/09/15/long-time-sports-director-dave-platta-leaves-wtvm/ Karl Bohnak (Chief Meteorologist, WLUC) - https://www.dailypress.net/news/local-news/2021/09/bohnak-fired-for-refusal-to-get-vaccinated/ I don't see them getting back into the business, especially not Bohnak - he burnt all his bridges with his statement going full QAnon.
  4. They get shredded in ratings anyway though by WKYT and WLEX.
  5. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2021/8/6/breaking-news-gray-no-jab-no-job Gray is mandating vaccinations for all new hires. They didn't mention it for existing employees yet. First TV group to do so.
  6. Unlikely to ever do weather again, since OAN and Newsmax don't do such.
  7. It won't be long, I am sure. CBS will want nothing to do with her. She'll be blacklisted too.
  8. The old template is now extinct. Greta's show has flipped too.
  9. She's probably been blacklisted now. About the only places she'll be able to work are Newsmax or OAN.
  10. Two of them, WWBT and WVIR, switched. The last holdout is WFLX (which Scripps actually does the heavy lifting in).
  11. You can add a few more with the new website design: WBTV, WECT and WIS. Only three stations remain and they should be switched in the next couple days I would think.
  12. Stations remaining with the old template: WBTV, WECT, WFLX, WIS, WVIR and WWBT. Full Court Press w/ Greta also has the old template.
  13. WAFF, WOIO and WWNY have switched. Remaining with the previous site: WBTV, WCSC, WECT, WFLX, WIS, WMBF, WVIR, WWBT, WWSB and Full Court Press w/Greta.
  14. You can add KPLC and WAFB.
  15. That should make it clear that the Quincy and Meredith stations will probably get the Gray legacy station template. A few more: KAUZ, KOLD, KEYC.
  16. It basically gives Tegna full control of the market.
  17. Jackson, TN? They don't have a station there. Bahakel (WBBJ) would be a tough purchase too as they conflict everywhere else. Also Clarksdale is in the Greenville, MS market? Unless they are buying WABG and company, that makes no sense too.
  18. Has WDHN added weekend news yet? I know for the longest time they had no such news, giving WTVY a monopoly there.
  19. Were any big names laid off? I know high-level news positions don't come along very often (i.e. News Director, Evening Anchor, Chief Meteorologist).
  20. The WTVY graphics look identical to the current Meredith package. Collusion perhaps?
  21. Totally unnecessary for a company still profitable and giving out stock dividends to shareholders. We didn't see companies like Nexstar, Gray, Scripps, Hearst and the like lay anyone off...
  22. It would be virtually impossible. The only way I can see Nexstar with WGCL is if an owner already in the market (i.e. Cox or Tegna) acquired Meredith. Unless they are looking at another station (i.e. the CBS-owned CW station)? Of the 12 markets that Meredith is in, Nexstar is in 9 of them. That's a deal that will NEVER work.
  23. I know Astrid Martinez threw all her anger out - at Meredith, not the GM or ND at the station. I wonder if she would return to WGCL under different ownership?
  24. That was when they were desperate to run away from Soo Kim in what was seen as a hostile takeover.
  25. Some of them make real good sense, while others like KECI, KTVL and KVAL really don't make much sense. They will lose some of their coverage area and will need fill-in translators. Mountainous areas are better in VHF.
