NWCN is advertising that the website will change this Wednesday. I am assuming KING will also change then too.

I don't normally watch CBS2, but was flipping channels and came across both Kristine and Maurice anchoring the 6 PM. Is it normal that if Dana Tyler is off that they both will fill in? Instead of just one or the other? Was just curious since Dana doesn't have a co-anchor.

 

This is it. The station really needs a relaunch. Take 2 months, and try to rebuild a respectable news organization for god sakes. Marysol and Dan are respected journalists, and we only got to know them for how long? Mark Effron is THE WORST ND EVER, and Carey is.....Oh I don't even know, I'm so frustrated with PIX right now. I have no ND experience, but I can put out a better product than them in seconds. Seriously, I don't know how news in the #1 market can get this bad. Ok let me try to get my bearings together after this...

 

The talent changes weekly and everyone keeps leaving except the god also known by the name of "Suki".....UGGHH :angry: :rofl!: :bang:

 

I'm not surprised with Dan; this is the second time he's gotten shafted by PIX in the anchoring department. Surprised with Marysol though, I thought she did a fine job of anchoring. Both Dan & Marysol worked great together; and hope they appear on another station together. Perhaps PIX should take some pointers from WNBC, WNYW, WABC, WCBS because their morning news teams seems to working out well and show no signs of dismantling.

Why don't they dump Suki & Kori instead and have Marysol and Dan anchor the new so called 5 - 9am show? I'd rather watch them instead of Suki & Kori.

 

That's the only other thing I could think of, but Suki says "Dan, I will cry everyday" and Marysol says "I'm a text away" to Suki. That's a bit much if Suki is just saying its great working with you.

 

The only way we will know is if one or both of them are gone tomorrow. Then I think it is fair to say, that was their goodbye.

 

That's terrible if it's true.

Here's another thought I had could it be Suki was saying it was great working with you to Dan & Marysol as they are still relatively new to anchoring the morning show?

 

That REALLY does sound like someone is leaving. It actually sounds like both Marysol and Dan are leaving.

Very odd. And if true, this is a huge crime because in my opinion, Dan and Marysol was the best team on the PIX 11 Morning News.

 

I hope Dan and Marysol aren't leaving I actually enjoy watching them and think they do a better job then Suki and Kori. Btw what is it with WPIX that they seem to have a high turnover rate in the mornings?

Just clarifying...This is just Suki talking and saying "thank you" to Dan and Marysol right? I hope they aren't leaving! After all, reports said that Dan is leaving, could this mean that the team is being dissolved all together? I don't really interpret this like they're leaving, I just wanted to clarify and make sure. From watching the video it seems like Dan and Marysol were tossing to Suki & Kori for the 6 am show; meanwhile Marysol was saying goodbye nice knowing you probably because he won the design contest thing and probably thinks he wants to leave to be a designer or whatever idk that's how i'm understanding it.

 

Why would Scott go back to WNBC? PIX needs him much more desperately than WNBC does. Besides, WNBC has John Chandler and Harry Cicma to work with. PIX has no one besides Scott, unless Andy Adler moves to nights which I don't see happening.

 

I don't even think Harry Cicma even does sports anymore I think he just does general reporting.

 

Congrats to John; I'm very happy for him.

I really enjoyed him during his stint on World News Now, and will love to watch him on PIX during the 5 and 10 when he rejoins the station. I have enjoyed Scott as anchor (yes) and will wish him well as just sports anchor. By the way, has this happen before? A main/sports anchor transitioning to just sports?

Because I've seen the opposite happen.

Yes it's happened before. I can't remember what station it was but a former sports anchor turned news anchor is/has returned back to his old station as sports anchor.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Scott filling in as main news anchor from time to time. He currently anchors now, and at WNBC there were days where we would handle sports duties for Bruce Beck on the 6 & 11 pm shows, but then anchor the 7 pm newscast. It's also not uncommon for sports anchors/reporters to transition into a news role. Some examples inclue:

 

Rob Powers - WABC (main sports anchor); also fills in from time to time on the anchor desk.

Eric Johnson - KOMO was primary sports director for a number of years before transitioning to 5 pm co-anchor, now is primary 5, 6 & 11 pm news anchor.

Larry Beil - KGO co-anchors the 4 pm newscast, then handles sports for the 6 & 11 pm shows.

Fred Roggin - KNBC primary sports anchor; on somewhat rare occasions has filled in as news anchor.

I have no clue didn't watch. Also Irika Sargent who joined WFOR as co-anchor of the 5 & 11pm newscasts made her on air debut yesterday so not anymore odd then say Daniella Guzman who left WMAQ last Wednesday and yes I do find it odd when an anchor starts/leaves mid-week. Why not just start on a Monday for those that are new, and leave on a Friday for those who are leaving.

 

Former WTIC meteorologist Rachel Frank will do weather from 4-6am and then handle traffic duties on weekdays for the PIX Morning News. This is according to Tuned In's Jerry Barmash. I don't know her, but it seems like a good hire.

According to this link it says she will report on environmental issues for the stations. Doesn't mention anything about handling traffic duties.

Kerry Barrett who was most recently evening anchor at FOX owned WXTF is moving to Good Day Philadelphia when she returns from maternity leave later this summer:
