  1. I wonder when the creditors will sell the company piecemeal? Scripps should also make a choice whether to keep going with their network stations or their ION stations.
  2. I doubt that this administration would force Skydance to divest cable channels. They'd probably be in favor of Skydance keeping everything.
  3. I'm a bit bummed out. Regardless of the amount of no's that Warner Bros. gave to Paramount, Paramount won because they threw more money. So much for a fair bidding process
  4. I can't take that open seriously, I don't know how to say it but it's... offensively bland.
  5. I'm tempted to sign up for an X account and pay for a mandatory subscription just to be able to tell Barr how stupid he sounds despite the owner's obvious political views. If anybody else has an X account, join in.
  6. I just read Brendan Carr's response and he is completely tone-deaf and also really unintelligent. Comcast and Disney don't own every affiliate and only own 12-13 stations when accounted for. To bring up Disney/Comcast to get support for an illegal merger is assinine.
  7. Accurate for all Scripps stations present day. Even stations pre-WMAR have become distant last in their respective markets.
  8. I know the WABC logo is coming to the West Coast but why must they do such a minor change just to have every station they own conform to each other?
  9. How does creating a monopoly break a monopoly?
  10. Not like broadcast TV is going back to its heyday. Expect syndicated TV to have lower budgets from here on out.
  11. I can't see the images.
  12. It's not like there's any easier solution. WBBM-FM is in the same situation as the former 97.1 in Los Angeles with iHeart's CHR beating out Audacy's. The only difference is that Chicago at least has room for Audacy to simulcast it's AM sports station. In LA, KIIS is the dominant and only pop station since KNX took over 97.1. Broadcasting is in a precarious place, what once worked now doesn't work as much anymore. It also doesn't help that analog AM is noisy and indecipherable thanks to all that digital interference. Regardless of ratings, sometimes you have to make a risky business move to protect your investments.
  13. This topic is for the ongoing scandals of the Fort Myers Broadcasting Company/Sun Broadcasting stations and the attempted purchase of WFTX that is ongoing.
  14. WINK: Where your family comes last and we come first, disobey and get fired.
  15. I know this isn't the speculatron but could this possibly lead to a Nexstar acquisition of WPLG?
  16. The more I look at it, the more I like it. Especially the "Evening News" in CBS' original and iconic font. It communicates, tradition, resilience, heretage and experience. Basically, this might communicate the program to prospective viewers in a way that might make a splash.
  17. The people running WQHT (Standard General) are just as incompetent as management at their former sister station KPWR
  18. Of course, CBS is taking a playbook out of ABC and promoting a morning co-host to the evening news platform. Worked for Diane Sawyer, let's hope it works for Tony. And of course Tony would be from NBC News and reporting for MSNBC and been with CBS News since 2016 before becoming morning co-anchor for CBS This Morning now CBS Mornings. I need time in order to discern Tony. I have never watched him nor researched him but I am aware of the stories.
  19. I just read the conversation and holy damn, you're getting too much into her personal life by talking about where she could be from and what her intentions are. This is a TV news forum, not a drama & gossip about news people forum. Can we stop talking so much about the private lives of those in the broadcasting industry and get back to talking about broadcasting?

Yeah but it looks cool, artistic and historically relevant to the station that went through being a past NBC affiliate, being a Fox Affiliate who set the news blueprint for Fox stations to implement and now, being an ABC affiliate of which is keeping WSVN afloat. It is a testament to Sunbeam leadership as well, especially Ed Ansin.

I'm indifferent towards them aping WHDH for ideas. In my opinion, this is going to be the best set South Florida has ever seen.
  22. In an environment like this, it is possible. I could imagine there'd be absolute chaos when it comes to the markets that CBS is in, specifically Los Angeles where there would be two ancillary stations (KCAL and KCOP) under FOX operation competing with each other, FOX has been making KCOP more news intensive so I don't know what's going to happen when FOX takes over KCBS and KCAL through an LMA if they do so...
  23. That's not the point though. Despite Trump's approach to businesses (meaning deregulation), he is going to actively attempt to sabotage the Netflix/WB merger. Like come on, make up your mind Trump.
