  1. Definitely looks like some changes will be coming to a station that doesn't change much. This will be interesting in the coming months- also there are rumors of new graphics and music, we'll see if that changes as well.

I find it interesting that it says that Allicot will anchor the noon news but it doesn't say if she''ll anchor it with someone or if she'll solo it. Maybe they just want her to solo the show for the time being to get very acclimated with viewers? Just a thought.

  2. Hmmm. well this all came about suddenly. I really enjoyed Stacey Bell when she was at News 12 LI and again at News 4. I wish her the best of luck. And yeah, this is why I don't watch WNBC much, they have no stability (even though it was Stacey's choice to leave) . And their anchor teams are all over the place.

  3. Well here's the job description on their website. There's only one job opening for reporter/anchor, so it seems that she'll anchor with someone internally (likely David Navarro).

    Reporter / Anchor

WABC-TV, NY seeks an experienced reporter / anchor for New York's top news organization. Five years broadcast news experience required, some major market experience preferred. Candidates must be great journalists, communicators, writers, and story-tellers, both from the set and the field. Candidates must be adept at social media, and know how to drive interaction with the audience.

  4. Was listening to 1010 Wins tonight and heard Mr. G come on and do one of his "G thing" segments- I guess PIX11 sells G's packages out for other stations to syndicate them? Just thought it was weird hearing Mr. G on a radio station that he's not on.

  5. I noticed it seems they've taken Andy Adler off the morning show to focus more on evening and weekend sports (and I think she still pre-tapes for the morning show sometimes). For the last two mornings, Marissa Torres has done Andy's old "Hot List" segment.

  6.

I liked it.. Could see it succeeding if they play it right.. I think it'll be even better with Scott in the studio..

Yeah Scott did a pre-recorded segment today (he prerecords his 5pm segments at least once a week I notice). I think he now works on the RAW pre-show on WWE in addition to his sports duties at PIX. Overall I think it's a nice change of pace from the 5pm. It's better than Ernie's "positive" newscast on FOX 5 IMHO.
  7. Not for anything but Jill Nicolini's been back for a couple of weeks now and she's been doing evening entertainment segments. Alex still does traffic in the morning. Maybe the morning shift isn't compatitble for Jill anymore, but wouldn't surprise me if Jill lost her traffic job. I mean, Katie McGee lost it to Alex Denis since Katie went on vacation for over 2 weeks, and was demoted to evening entertainment reporter. Alex Denis lost her job to Jill when she was pregnant and was demoted to "morning social media reporter", and now it looks like Alex got her old traffic job back since Jill went on maternity leave. I figured if Jill was going to go back to traffic she would've went back by now (not that I have a problem with Alex, it's just that CBS 2 doesn't stay consistent).

Also, they do traffic and weather together on the 2's now.

  8. Speaking about CBS 2, their 11pm newscast ended at 11:49 tonight... and their next show- which was a March madness special- started earlier than scheduled at 11:53 or something like that. I thought that was a little strange.

  9. Well, well, well.. I just saw this:

    https://careers2-tribune.icims.com/jobs/42451/producer---6pm/job?hub=8&mobile=false&width=1323&height=500&bga=true&needsRedirect=false&jan1offset=-300&jun1offset=-240

If you can't click on the link it's a position for a producer for a 6pm newscast. So it does seem that they are actually launching a 6pm newscast. I'll post the job description here:

    Overview:

PIX11 News is seeking a smart and digitally savvy Producer who wants to make her/his mark on New York City by crafting a new and unique kind of newscast.

    Responsibilities:

Strong ethics and stellar news judgment are must-haves and don’t be afraid to push the envelope. We need someone who can set the conversation agenda. Someone who understands what will be trending tomorrow, and makes it a point to showcase those stories tonight.

We will cover a wide variety of content – from breaking news to viral videos, social issues to social media trends, technology, entertainment, and everything else that makes people talk.

    Qualifications:

    • Great writer.
    • An expert at storytelling with video.
    • A social media savant (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat) -Someone who can create content, pegged largely to news across social platforms.
    • Calm in a crisis – no panicking in the control room.
    • Willing to blow up the show 2 minutes before air to cover breaking news.
    • Must be able to climb into the trenches and get your hands dirty.
    • 5 years of producing experience college degree or equivalent experience.
    • Experience in a top 25 market.
    • Final Cut Pro proficiency.

  10.

Aren't Dick and Alice usually out on the street reporting for the 5 & 6? At least that's what I've noticed and I would assume after reporting for the 5 & 6 they come back to the studios to prepare for the 9 pm.

Yeah exactly, they're both used as field reporters. But I agree, if they have enough reporter staff available, they should have Alice & Dick fill in a couple of nights.

On another note, Alex Denis was still doing traffic this morning.

  11. I like Ernie Anastos. And I think the viewers like him too, but I agree with nynewslover, I think he's better with real news rather than the fluff show he's on now. But I don't think giving him the boot would be the smart choice. But if they did, I think PIX could pick him up and team him up with Kaity Tong. But that's just pure speculation at this point.

But on the 11pm newscast front, that's just too much news in my view. If there's breaking news, they can preempt the Big Bang Theory. If they want to add newscasts, they should try weekend mornings or 1pm or 12pm or heck, why not 2pm. Plus, if it's a slow news night, what would they do at 11pm? There are 3 major newscasts on at 11pm, no real reason for WNYW to join the crowd, if they already have a 10pm newscast.

  12.

Just saw a video on YouTube. Apparently Jill Nicolini is back. Anyone know if she'll do traffic again in the mornings? Or will they keep Alex Denis on?

Well Jill came back on Thursday, and has worked through Friday of last week (she did two entertainment stories at the tail end of the 5pm newscast). Alex did traffic on both Thursday & Friday. Who's on tomorrow, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Would certainly be funny if they kept Alex on traffic and made Jill the evening entertainment reporter or something. CBS 2 has a history of reassigning jobs to people when they come back from maternity leave.
