CBS 2 is now streaming their 5pm newscast online; not sure if the stream works for the other newscasts, however. Hopefully this is a permanent change.

Joe Mauceri did sports tonight in for Scott Stanford, and will host the Sports Desk tonight at 10:45. Interesting choice, I guess he's third in line behind Scott and Andy.

Just read this about Contessa Brewer from TV Spy, it appears like she's still with WNBC based on this article, just adding MSNBC to her workload on weekend evenings.

Well I just turned to PIX and guess who's in for Tamsen: Kaity! Looks like they've been listening to me!
-
What I don't understand AT ALL is why they had John anchoring two (almost) hour long broadcasts solo last night, Tamsen was off. And Kaity was THERE! She did a story on the llamas at 10pm. I can understand maybe solo for one show ,but why do both when you have an experienced, well-known anchor right there next to you on set? It just makes no sense. Other than that, there broadcasts have improved greatly. In fact, here are the numbers for February sweeps that I found: http://www.tribunemedia.com/?p=20370I think that's a great idea. Jay Dow has really risen in the ranks during the news division. And he left quite an impression doing the weekend news on occasion. It would be great to see him anchoring the news more.
And...come on...who doesn't want to see Kaity Tong anchoring weekdays again. after so long??

Well..regarding the ND slot over at WPIX:
And it does seem that a 6pm newscast is in the works. Certainly interesting times ahead.

One thing about Suki and Kori is that Suki doesn't seem to have the ability to comfortably banter. Kori tries to make light of a situation and Suki seems to get all serious and act uncomfortable. I don't remember this happening with her and John, but with Kori she just doesn't seem to like to banter with him. Even with Andy, she formed such an opinion and got borderline nasty with Andy when she did her segment one day (take a look at the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo5RBIEmWXE). Rosanna can sometimes get off on Greg with his antics, but she can do so comfortably. Suki seems like she wants to go off on Kori, but does so in an uncomfortable way.Now maybe it was just a bad moment, but this doesn't make Suki and Kori's relationship look good.

It looks like Suki would have gone off on Kori had they been off the air.
On another note, I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about the new news director. I would hope that he/she would be announced soon, considering that the ND job has been taken off the job listings website for like 2 months.

Kaity tong and jay Dow aren't bad together, wouldn't mind seeing jay permanently with Kaity. I think Kaity will get a coanchor eventually.

As per this tweet, PIX11 is getting a new newsroom and it's almost ready to debut.

Noticed this from WPIX GM Rich Graziano
http://www.richardjgraziano.com/pix11-news-ratings-surge/
It seems the 5pm is doing great still, and the morning is also doing much better. But it looks like the 10pm may be in trouble. It still isn't even mentioned. I noticed that WNYW and WPIX have opposite "trends". WNYW is slipping at 5pm, while WPIX continues to do great, and WNYW surges at 10pm, as WPIX slips.
-
Well apparently WNYW is doing outstanding at 10pm recently.

Noticed chief meteorologist Erika Martin from WTNH was on during their live web coverage tonight. I know she left their back in December. Maybe she'll be the new meteorologist?Just looking online and WPIX has a job posting listed on 1/12/15 for a Meteorologist... hmmmmm....
-
I actually check PIX's job listing page regularly (I guess you could say I'm a bit obsessed), but it's actually been down for like a month. I think they are very close to choosing their news director, and are down to only a few candidates at this point. It seems like they don't want any more job applications, but are down to a select few people who they want to potentially be the ND.Hmmm but the ND position is down already hmmmm???
-
Based on the amount of job postings up, it seems like they're ready to boost up on management front.Just looking online and WPIX has a job posting listed on 1/12/15 for a Meteorologist... hmmmmm....
But this is great news, hopefully whoever is chosen will replace G (although I was hoping Craig Allen would fill that role, and he still might). OR maybe Mr. G is not being kicked to the curb, and he's retiring soon, and maybe he hasn't announced it yet? That could certainly be the case, as he retired from CBS FM a while ago. Also, I think Mr. G would make a great education reporter, if they didn't want to get rid of him...But this is still speculative. Mr. G may be there for another 5 years or so, who knows.

Well based on the amount of time Allison has spent anchoring since her debut, it seems like she is one of the primary fill-ins, and when she joined the station, she was specifically assigned to "business reporter/fill-in anchor" and I think when they said that, they meant that she was to be one of the main fill-ins. Now I don't think this is the end of Christina Park filling in at all, it's just that they seem to want to use Allison more often, instead of just using Christina, and I also think that Allison will be filling in more than Christina. But I agree, I do think Christina is a much better anchor than Allison. Also, don't forget about Ernie Anastos. When he's off, Christina Park is the main back-up for him, and will likely remain to be so.I know you are a bit of an expert of sorts... so here goes my question for you... Do you really think so?
I mean, I didn't realize this on Friday when I posted, Christina Park was off this weekend (so she was probably off Friday as well)... and it appears as though her set days off are always Monday and Tuesday (as she can't anchor M-F and her regular weekend. So is it that Alison is really taking over as the primary fill in, do you think?
I really hope not.... Christina is much better and she deserves it based on time put it (not to mention talent)

Like her or not, Allison Morris is quickly becoming the face of FOX 5. She's filling in again with Steve tonight.
-
Well it seems that WCBS has given in to the other stations. Their newscast seems to be going on for an hour tonight, and it was scheduled to be that way. And Steve Overmeyer said that he's doing the "Sports Update" tonight, which also airs on WLNY on weekends. Wonder if this will be permanent for Sunday nights only or the entire weekend? Interesting to say the least.
EDIT: TVguide has it listed for an hour for next Sunday night too. Not Saturday, but just Sunday. Just like WNBC.

Just noticed this new web feature from PIX11, it's called the "PIXCAST", with a look at the day's top stories and weather forecast. It lasts for about 1 minute. Dan Mannarino did the morning and midday pixcast, and Tamsen Fadal did the evening one. It's a nice addition, but come on, they must of derived this idea from WABC, as they just launched the Eyewitness News "Quickcast" the other day.
You can watch the "pixcasts" on their facebook page:
-
and here's another pic from Mary Calvi's twitter:Noticed that WCBS was on the WLNY desk this morning. They were back on the main set by the news at noon. Must of had some technical trouble or studio touch-ups?

And what station would that be?
I actually wasn't referring to 11, I was referring to 2, with WCBS' new "weather watchers" thing that they promote like crazy, that allows viewers to post their weather data from their location, as well as pictures. Now I'm not saying that you can do so from their weather app (I don't know to be honest), I was just saying that the whole "Eyewitness Weather Watchers" sounds awfully similar to "CBS 2 Weather Watchers", and that seems like that is where they got their idea from.11
-
Well doesn't this "new" feature look familiar (especially if you watch a channel just a little further down the dial). Just another classic example of stations constantly copying after eachother.

WNBC had a 5:00 newscast today instead of 6:00 due to the Golden Globes. From what I recall, they did this last year too.

Interesting anchor line-ups today: Antwan anchored with Juliet on GDWU and Ben Simmenau anchored with Christina Park today at 5pm. Ben's pretty solid as a hard news anchor, has he ever anchored in the evening before?
