DCRTV reports that WUSA morning meteorologist Allyson Rae is leaving the station to rejoin WBBH in Fort Myers FL.
-
Miri Marshall who recently left WBAL as their weekend morning Meteorologist has moved down the road to WUSA. She will be the weekday morning Meteorologist starting next month.
She's starting this weekend because of Irma and from what I gather, WUSA will go with two meteorologists in the morning as the other DC stations do. (WRC has Chuck Bell & Sheena Parveen, WTTG has Mike Thomas & Tucker Barnes, WJLA has Eileen Whalen and Veronica Johnson).
-
could this mean the end of the view and/or general hospital?
He's retiring in a couple weeks, I think he announced it in May sweeps. Lately he's only been working the noon, 4, and 5pm shows.

I wonder what that means for Allyson Rae?

Changes from one Sinclair station to another. Bill Kelly the Chief Meteorologist at WSYX/ABC 6 On Your Side in Columbus, OH moves to become Chief Meteorologist at WJLA/ABC 7 in D.C.
Many folks have left WSYX, and the beat continues.....
Really would have rather seen Steve Rudin or Veronica Johnson get the big promotion to take over for Doug Hill.

No freaking way!
There's not really a sewing channel...
Is there?
There might be on Roku or something LMAO. Then again, they do have a dog channel on DIRECTV, which didn't do shit for my dogs.
-
What a load of crap, on Comcast's response. They don't want to upset the viewers of Sewing Channel 6 in HD...
To be fair, the Sewing Channel does have some captivating story telling. Mrs. Edna's show has reduced me to tears at how much she has uncovered in the raw & gritty world of competitive sewing.

I drove up from Arlington to Hagerstown to record the last newscast on WHAG. It appeared that the 10pm was live, but the 11pm NoVa News seemed to be taped (10pm anchors and stories mentioned 10pm, whereas 11pm didn't mention a time) and had a slightly different feel. No promotion of the change except one reference of "for the last time" during the open, a reference to the new website near the end, and the same promo already posted run a few times. Everything else (promos during the newscast) still was referencing "WHAG News" and "Your4State.com". I can see them dropping the Pennsyvania coverage, since Comcast dropped/is dropping the station in PA (receivable OTA, but not in market)... (But Comcast doesn't' carry the station in DC Northern Virginia Suburbs...)
IMHO! The graphics need a little work - the WHAG/your4state.com rotating bug looks weird over no background, as do the Facebook/Twitter/other social media links,
I can see them going for full market coverage - the weather included down to Woodbridge, and stories included Fairfax and Springfield as well as the Winchester area.
Jim
The NoVA News airs at live at 7, I think the 11pm is a rerun.

We've had WDVM/WHAG on Fios for a few days now, but only in SD on channel 31, and I gotta say I do enjoy hearing about different stories you won't hear on the big 4 in DC, plus I have family in West Virginia so WV Tonight Live is a good resource to hearing about news in their area.

Former WRIC reporter Candice Cole has resurfaced at WDCW. I guess they're holding their own in the ratings against FOX 5, hopefully they'll soon move full production to DC and expand to an hour.

Pam Saulsby (former WRAL & WNCN anchor) and Bill Leslie (WRAL) are the only names that come to mind for me.

how many are on the team now since sheena joined
Chuck Bell, Sheena Parveen, Doug Kammerer, Amelia Draper, Lauryn Ricketts, and a new lady named Somara Theodore. So right now, if you include Tom, they have 7 meteorologists, compared to WJLA's team of 8, WTTG's team of 6, and WUSA's team of 4

Longtime WRC meteorologist Tom Kierein is retiring on June 22nd. Tom was the last remaining meteorologist at the station from the Bob Ryan-era.

WJLA/NC8 chief meteorologist Doug Hill announces his retirement effective in September.

Jummy was more of a "Breaking News/Live Desk" anchor instead of sitting at the desk with main anchors Lenny & Autria taking turns reading headlines in a "three-anchor format". However yes Eat, Jummy would fill-in anchor when one of the main anchors is away.
Jummy also anchors the noon news.
-
Leon Harris to join WRC effective tomorrow.
At NBC4, Harris will be anchoring the weekend editions of News4 at 6 and News4 at 11 along with Erika Gonzalez. During the week, he will contribute to coverage of breaking news and special events and report on segments that focus on inspiring people in our community.
-
WJLA morning/noon anchor Jummy Olabanji is joining WNBC as a weekend evening anchor, her last day in DC will be 4/21 (via DCRTV and FTVLive)
-
WJLA morning anchor Autria Godfrey was arrested last month and charged w/ trespassing & public intoxication.
-
Honestly, I'd like to see Nancy Loo take Lourdes' place.
-
According to DCRTV, WJLA will be dropping MeTV effective 3/1. No word on if another DC station will pick it up or if local cable providers will pick up the Baltimore or Richmond feed.

I'm not allowed to play with my food.
It freaks-out the tourist at La Jolla Cove.
Tourists are food, not friends.

As a kid growing up in Northern VA, today's a bittersweet day. I was never 100% loyal to any news channel, but when it snowed, I always loved watching Doug Hill, especially because I thought the "ABC7 Snow Machine" was the coolest thing ever.
Best wishes in your retirement, Doug! Feel free to come back and bring Bob Ryan with you when it snows again!
