I think that's a custom for WPTV's package at the time...
-
No that's the V1 close... All the did when V2 game along is add the lighthouse light sweeping across. Before that the closes were customized to each station and the lighthouse was just there with Scripps. Before 2008 the cable networks logos were used along with © Scripps xxxx...

I forget what the first one even looked like....
-
Their old one used a light house too just to be clear...

I know when WXYZ does lower thirds with copyrights it'll say Scripps like you described on the top half and it'll have the Give Light slogan on the bottom half... The Scripps Media one debuted 1/1/15 so I'm guessing they redid it for the Journal stations. Are they technically Scripps Media Inc. or what? I've seen that and Scripps and E.W. Scripps used interchangeably... Interestingly the ones for "The List" have always said just the year and Scripps so they didn't change the syndicated ones last year...

Here's the new Scripps slate with it's sound effect intact: Note that the name is simply Scripps after the year. It was done this way in 2014 and before as well. For 2015 they used "Scripps Media Inc."... It's too bad the bugs are placed in such a way that it slightly covers the lettering. This did debut on New Years Day by the way.

It's about time they replaced it... WXYZ doesn't use music (or the Scripps lighthouse ident outside of 6am and 6pm) over theirs so the little music chime is still the same for the new one when I saw it on today's 6am...

It's actually 10.. I was trying to go from memory.. Still picking your area is really easy on it Is it Missouri or is Kansas involved too? Kind of an ignorant question but I know it gets a little interesting in that area with what's covered... Here's that map by the way:

Do you really think 5's news operation is better funded than 7's? That seems a little iffy... The Tonight show certainly helps but the 9pm shows only help if your 10 is strong enough to hold viewers from tuning out... For example: ABC is the consistently highest rated network by far here in Detroit... But come 11pm there's a huge switch over to the NBC station because the operation has been stronger for a long time. This has even held true after their 11pm has rotted rather badly in the last year...

You brought her up yesterday dude... Right in your post about Cheryl and Troy... I can't change the channel since I'm not there but I'd hate to see WLS go the way of a station like WXYZ with a complete and utter implosion followed by bad moves and talent retirements and bad hires... This whole thing starting to feel oddly familiar to me...
-
She just seems like somebody who could get on someone's nerves... Especially if he cares about their quality at all...
-
And I have... I went as far as to say they are in big trouble if they keep going down this road... I've watched it happen elsewhere and usually starts just like this and results in a spectacular implosion... She does not currently have the talent level to be in Chicago... That's not a matter of seasoning. It's a matter of her current abilities. She has 5 (!) years of broadcasting experience. The thinking is that her huge social media following will translate into viewers... So far that's a big fat no... They would have been far safer with Caplan. So then they are gonna take an inexperienced bland talent that might make it to Tampa or Detroit without that following and throw her on the biggest show they have. It's beyond asinine...

Do you mean she was standing right on top of him and almost got in the way or she was bugging him? It's kind of like putting a kid on with veteran people... I'm sure said veterans don't appreciate that... Maybe she's annoying on the set... As for him scaling back he already has because of her... Anything more would seem forced... Especially given his supposed full retirement in 2016.

Wow. 7 couldn't even win against an upstart... Panic sets in on State st....
-
That doesn't matter... Chi-Town is an out of town phrase... A common one...
-
I wouldn't bet the farm on things being perfect off air if he gets demoted...

Glad to know this thing lived up to its billing as a Longshot challenger and likely failure..

One of the benefits of Michigan is that they laid it out in a grid... All the counties are big... Our DMA has 7 counties and 4 million people...
-
Well I guess Troy isn't *that* ready... It does beg the question why 7 thinks shoving Cheryl Scott down people's throats is a popular decision at every special they do... It's not like she needs that much introduction...
-
Absolutely... Her um er "talent" is at best generic and vanilla.. I don't see anything that's going to draw me into her presentation as a weathercaster...
-
I say throw Troy in the fire tired and last minute...
-
Apparently they have more confidence in him then they did before. It's also the holidays and weird things happen to get people days off. Still pretty surprising there...

We haven't had much severe weather here to use it for but it arrived sometime within the last month... When we had our mid November snowstorm it was still the old ticker... Maybe Scripps goes alphabetically? When the V2 graphics debuted in March or April of 2012 we had to sit with V1 until September 12th... That made us maybe the last or darn close to get switched over.

Still it's becoming a trend for them to have to fight off 5... Losing by a point in the demo is very bad for them seasonal programming or not... They used to get a big enough tune in rate to negate reruns. The fact that they didn't get that this time is a concern. I would also guess that when Taft, Magers and Yu go (probably in that order) they'll see significant erosion unless they can draw off talent from other stations in town... Their 30 year lead is in jeopardy it appears. Frankly other than a new set their news department is lackluster right now compared to where it was a couple years ago... This is not a good sign when you have had a big lead for years... "It marked the eighth consecutive month NBC 5 beat or tied ABC 7 for first place in the adult demo."
