  1. If its anything like the original rollout of these graphics it'll be gradual.
  2. In the next few months.
  3. It could be whoever grabbed that image was as oblivious as I was. It's probably just that innocuous not that it makes it any better.
  4. Oh well then yeah... About that OTS you got there.....
  5. Enlighten me... What's the issue?
  6. Even then just keep it simple stupid....
  7. "That Sheriff and his deputies so close to those wildfires and evacuating all those scared residents"... It just doesn't sound correct. It's not even that's it's a different style of writing (I'm not sure just because the words make some sense together it becomes a style) so much as its the antithesis of like 70+ years of broadcast writing... Maybe because crime is half of what it was 20 years ago the news organizations feel the need to grab attention with overhyped and over sensationalized copy and stories that matter way less than they make them seem?
  8. The thing is that bullets are nice to read but hearing someone talk in them is really weird. I don't know if NBC writes that way at all but their ratings lead suggests they have work to do. Writing normally is a start. It doesn't have to be super flashy to work and people don't speak that way. It's one more reason the show is entirely unwatchable.
  9. Scripps DC bureau is alive and kicking thank you...
  10. WXYZ originated the 7pm Newscast concept for Scripps after 9/11 when World News Tonight moved from 7pm to 630pm. They needed something to fill the half hour in a pinch and viola.. the 7pm news was born. What's more for being a retread newscast (repeating stories and packages from the 5pm and 6pm shows by and large with maybe a new story or two as a blurb in a VO or something) it was WXYZ's highest rated newscast in July and has been in the past from time to time as well and that's despite going up against Wheel on WDIV. So 7pm news can work pretty well.
  11. That's a really nice graphics package. Now if they would just get some adults to write the copy for the show... Seriously the writing on WNT is some of the most bizarre I've heard in TV News.
  12. As usual the WFLD revolving door continues to spin apace: John Kelley is leaving his anchor role on the stations Good Day Chicago morning show on December 1st. He joined 32 in 2013. George Smith is coming over from WOIO in Cleveland following new GDC EP Dan Salomone. Smith also spent some time reporting for ESPN Chicago. He starts October 12th. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/jon-kelley-leaving-wfld-george-smith-joining/155339
  13. Not using a steadycam is standard across the entire group.
  14. ABC7 To Go is now Live at 11am instead of Noon. That may account for the moving of the WCL updates (if they kept them moved to 1130 J?)
  15. Huh?
  16. Would bringing an unknown from Miami in really make that much difference?
  17. Political ad revenue.
  18. Things getting worse on the other side of the lake? The biggest thing I've noticed is all the Chicago stations have caught weather coverage overkill-itis... In my experience staff cuts and automation take their toll on quality. I looked in on Eyewitness News at 4 the other night and the robocamera took off and started spinning around until somebody switched to full screen weather graphics. Cheryl Scott didn't miss a beat though...
  19. I'm surprised KSHB has 5 even up here in Detroit none of our stations have ever gone above 4...
  20. For that matter how often have they had 5?
  21. I see that it keeps with their scheme a bit better. That said I think I like the blue for that cold open better still.
  22. It's better blue. What's with the ugly grey ends on that thing?
  23. No
  24. Yeah that's not what was probably supposed to happen at least I hope not... The way they did those graphics looks pretty good though...
  25. If it's going to be a hard news format it should end up being similar to WXYZ's...
