  1. Not using a steadycam is standard across the entire group.
  2. ABC7 To Go is now Live at 11am instead of Noon. That may account for the moving of the WCL updates (if they kept them moved to 1130 J?)
  3. Huh?
  4. Would bringing an unknown from Miami in really make that much difference?
  5. Political ad revenue.
  6. Things getting worse on the other side of the lake? The biggest thing I've noticed is all the Chicago stations have caught weather coverage overkill-itis... In my experience staff cuts and automation take their toll on quality. I looked in on Eyewitness News at 4 the other night and the robocamera took off and started spinning around until somebody switched to full screen weather graphics. Cheryl Scott didn't miss a beat though...
  7. I'm surprised KSHB has 5 even up here in Detroit none of our stations have ever gone above 4...
  8. For that matter how often have they had 5?
  9. I see that it keeps with their scheme a bit better. That said I think I like the blue for that cold open better still.
  10. It's better blue. What's with the ugly grey ends on that thing?
  11. No
  12. Yeah that's not what was probably supposed to happen at least I hope not... The way they did those graphics looks pretty good though...
  13. If it's going to be a hard news format it should end up being similar to WXYZ's...
  14. It is except for the icons for sun and clouds etc. seem to vary with each station they own for some reason... You'd think they'd have only one sun/cloud/snowflake/thunderstorm icon... Also some stations have the highs and lows on top of each other for each day rather than the angles they used here.
  15. There are anchors who wear jeans if they don't have to come out from behind the desk.
  16. Some places do it that way... Open and then lead story title and 5-10 second clip with live VO and right into a zoom to a 2 shot. No dragged out preview of anything.
  17. The networks waste valuable time previewing what's to come rather than opening and giving the headline. Why let people know whether to turn it off right away or not? Just start it and keep them watching with solid stories that matter... That means no "50 million in the path of the storm of the day" or "today x celebrity got divorced". That A block needs to be your bread and butter.
  18. That's very nice. I'm glad they cleaned it up... I still don't really like cold opens but I can't think of a better way to do one.
  19. WXYZ Investigative Reporter Ross Jones is leaving Detroit for Scripps Washington D.C. newsroom. He had been at WXYZ since 2005. This is the second person in 3 weeks to be promoted by Scripps from WXYZ. Hopefully this doesn't hurt what has been an improving product.
  20. Scripps promoted from within to replace Andy Choi who I mentioned above... Breanne Palmerini has joined WXYZ from KJRH in Tulsa as a reporter. She started on-air on Wednesday.
  21. That guy is nuts...
  22. What?
  23. Lionel Moise is joining WBBM from WLTX in Columbia, SC where he was morning anchor. He'll be morning anchor alongside Erin Kennedy starting Sept. 21. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wbbm-names-lionel-moise-morning-anchor/154272
  24. Krashesky and Babich.. Interesting.
  25. Andy Choi, an MMJ at WXYZ since 2013 and weekend morning anchor since 2014 has been promoted to National Correspondent for The NOW based out of Denver. He is very very good and should be a big help to the national content they put out.
