  1. It is except for the icons for sun and clouds etc. seem to vary with each station they own for some reason... You'd think they'd have only one sun/cloud/snowflake/thunderstorm icon... Also some stations have the highs and lows on top of each other for each day rather than the angles they used here.
  2. There are anchors who wear jeans if they don't have to come out from behind the desk.
  3. Some places do it that way... Open and then lead story title and 5-10 second clip with live VO and right into a zoom to a 2 shot. No dragged out preview of anything.
  4. The networks waste valuable time previewing what's to come rather than opening and giving the headline. Why let people know whether to turn it off right away or not? Just start it and keep them watching with solid stories that matter... That means no "50 million in the path of the storm of the day" or "today x celebrity got divorced". That A block needs to be your bread and butter.
  5. That's very nice. I'm glad they cleaned it up... I still don't really like cold opens but I can't think of a better way to do one.
  6. WXYZ Investigative Reporter Ross Jones is leaving Detroit for Scripps Washington D.C. newsroom. He had been at WXYZ since 2005. This is the second person in 3 weeks to be promoted by Scripps from WXYZ. Hopefully this doesn't hurt what has been an improving product.
  7. Scripps promoted from within to replace Andy Choi who I mentioned above... Breanne Palmerini has joined WXYZ from KJRH in Tulsa as a reporter. She started on-air on Wednesday.
  8. That guy is nuts...
  9. What?
  10. Lionel Moise is joining WBBM from WLTX in Columbia, SC where he was morning anchor. He'll be morning anchor alongside Erin Kennedy starting Sept. 21. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wbbm-names-lionel-moise-morning-anchor/154272
  11. Krashesky and Babich.. Interesting.
  12. Andy Choi, an MMJ at WXYZ since 2013 and weekend morning anchor since 2014 has been promoted to National Correspondent for The NOW based out of Denver. He is very very good and should be a big help to the national content they put out.
  13. See there really isn't a super compelling reason for either Jerry or Cheryl to not do the full 17.5 hours all alone...
  14. There really isn't one but it's sort of the way they seem to like to do it. It's not the overburdening almost everywhere else for them to do as many as 4 and a half hours of newscasts... Nobody really cares if they split the evenings up or not... In fact it might dilute the weather brand a bit...
  15. Energetic? There's not a hell of a lot of energy to 7's weather team... They are decent but none of them are super bubbly or anything... It's about as direct and straight a style as I can think of...
  16. Apparently 32's morning show is soon to be expanded and Richard Roeper is one person auctioning for a role in it... http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wfld-may-add-prominent-movie-critic-to-morning-show/154030
  17. Don't you think it kinda fits CBS though... Nothing terribly modern about what they put out anyways... That's not a bad thing either.
  18. Thanks for putting it up... That's really neat man...
  19. I'm looking forward to seeing it then... That's really cool...
  20. You can't let the fane go to your head now .. Did you happen to have the recorder rolling?
  21. That's great "is that a parade?"
  22. A lot of what 7 has done in newscasts and WCL has the look of flailing about... I'm not sure what's going on over there but they seem to be playing with fire a lot lately...
  23. If I might ask... Are Chyron and Viz able to display the same graphics exactly the same or would this be an excuse to tweak the graphics to accommodate a different system?
  24. If it doesn't have the VizRT system I wonder if they'll just install what the Scripps stations used pre-merger? It looks like the Journal stations are getting a pretty unmodified Scripps package... Have they implemented it anywhere yet on the Journal stations?
  25. I imagine they'll be cut over soon if they haven't already... They were gonna hire a couple graphical designers a couple months ago to work with the VizRT system Journal used...
