Another Windy City Live departure... This time Emarald-Jane Hunter a jack of all trades of sorts who did booking, produced segments and did fill-in EP work among other things. She had been with WCL since 2011. She left to become the Director of Media and Content Development for Chicago boutique PR firm Henson Consulting. WXYZ is modifying the main part of it's set. The 11pm newscast tonight used the auxiliary set on the other side of the studio that the morning and 10pm newscasts use. They have been making minor tweaks to the set over the last few weeks including a new monitor array duratrans behind the anchor desk. The modifications are supposed to be done sometime soon.

Wanna say that 5 times fast? That really is pretty cool though.

Well here's version 1.0 of a new duratrans image for WXYZ to use on their fancy new screen as seen on their 5pm on Wednesday as an apparent experiment: The fact that the images behind the circle 7 keep changing and the circle 7 is too big make this something that needs work. It does bring them more in line with the V2 graphical look by having the angular Scripps gold and blue swooshes in each corner. The old duratrans image was used for the 6-7-11 on Wednesday which further indicates an experiment.

Whoops good point. I didn't get the quote exactly right from 5 because I deleted the alert on my phone. I had the impression when I first read it that they had an exclusive STORY but you're right it was the INTERVIEW that was the exclusive. My bad.

Well here's NBC 5's 10pm newscast push alert: "Teen beaten by honor students speaks in an NBC 5 News EXCLUSIVE (caps mine) at 10"... Cue 7's right after that: "Group of college-bound teens accused of beating man over $500 bike. Details on ABC7 at 10pm" I guess it wasn't that exclusive...

Oh gotcha... Whoops.

Yuck... Having an actual newscast at 1am is almost silly...

And mumbling... Stumbling... Picking the wrong words and generally doing the same crappy job whenever she gets in an off the cuff situation. They've made a bad choice of horse to hitch their wagon too...

It'll be interesting to see if they do something to make it look a little less silly in the interim... It makes Jerry look 12 feet tall..

They must be REALLY low to the ground at that desk. I don't think Jerry is much past 6 foot.

I wonder if it's a little awkward to try to do a full close on the temp set? You noted that it can be done but maybe not as well as somebody would like? Interesting to say the least.

I get that they are trying to make her the Chief met (good heavens that frightening) but she's not so good folks are going to tune in just to see her. I don't get 7's obsession with promoting her as they slowly bleed viewers. I think 7 is starting to feel some pain and is trying to respond... I don't think this is the best way to do that though.

Went to watch World News Tonight on WXYZ in Detroit and an "ABC-TV New York HD" test pattern ran from 630-7pm instead. Anybody else see anything like this tonight? There have been several people asking what was up on WXYZ's Facebook page but there's no response or explanation anywhere.

The temporary set looks like something from 2000... It makes the SSS look new... WGN has a way better set... Not sure where your mom was coming from.

First Alert don't cha know...

She seems to have a way of pissing people off who understand the business or watch it from the outside.

Maggie Carlo, a WGN/CLTV fill-in reporter and anchor since 2009 left the station at the beginning of August to pursue other stuff outside of TV.

Chicago Radio and Media apparently doesn't like the let's get Cheryl Scott into every special phenomenon... From their write-up on the Air and Water Show special.

Yuck... My bet is it'll go down in flames. Tyra Banks isn't the star she used to be I don't think.
