  1. I think most broadcast stations in the US have a dump button. Somebody just was asleep at the switch. Of course taking viewer calls like that at all is a risk in itself. I would have preferred just weather to the rolling pool of idiots the stations were bringing on last night... especially 7. Nonody really had much of anything important to add or knew how to answer a question...
  2. They have the highly rated Inside Edition in there at 430. That's not gonna get moved as long as it does well. Stephen Clark is more or less a Bonds-style anchor. Guy has his 11am show that he does too. I just don't see the need to reshuffle their lineup as long as it works. I like Stephen Clark myself... he's an old school anchor.
  3. Guy Gordon left 7 on bad terms in '03... He's happy at WDIV I think. If anything he'll anchor the 5 but I think he'll just report for awhile. Stephen fits the anchor mold at 7... Guy Gordon never did.
  4. I wonder why they are cutting some to the bone and sparing others?
  5. Curtis Jackson has joined WXYZ as a Reporter/Anchor. He came from WKRC in Cinncinati where he anchored their 530pm and 10pm shows until last year.
  6. Right I'm just saying that was my only hint at what that color meant scrolling by on the ticker.
  7. That's what I mean... In the radar loop there was a red steak of some sort of warnings behind the thunderstorm as it moved southeast. I couldn't figure out what those were supposed to be. I knew they weren't tornado warnings at least... If I remember right they had "Flash Flood Warning" in red on the ticker?
  8. It's kind of a sad commentary on all the larger market Scripps stations though... Phoenix Tampa Denver Cleveland Baltimore Indy San Diego
  9. Is that what that huge red streak behind the storm was?
  10. They need to see every pitch since the season is all they have Seriously... Some Cubs fans are awfully whiny...
  11. On a TV News site this is about as pressing as it gets. They really have done better tonight though I find their color codes for watches and warnings incredibly confusing. It doesn't conform to normal colors. A yellow Tornado watch? That's odd...
  12. It would have to be awfully dominant to leapfrog all those bigger stations in revenue. WXYZ has always been Scripps cash cow so to speak. That their new Nashville station may be the #2 is surprising... Or maybe not... It is Scripps after all.
  13. It's pretty sad is what it is. They either need a bigger studio, better ergonomics or just put it up full screen... There's no shame in showing something on the screen rather than a camera pointing at a screen (that seems rather primitive really). I'm also getting sick of xx million in the path of the storm tonight. We're getting that stupid gimmick every single night now. I remember a few years ago they reported on really extrodinary weather only. Now their weather reporting looks like the local news in Youngstown, Ohio on steroids.
  14. "The radar at this hour". The loop they used is over 4 hours old almost 5 really. If it's a live show how hard is it to have a live radar shot on that huge screen?
  15. Wahoo for slightly different shades of color... And 2 bands instead of 3.
  16. Well.... The June book so far is channel 5's: http://www.bizjournals.com/chicago/news/2015/06/18/wmaq-channel-5-is-on-top-along-with-chicago.html
  17. Ugh... kudos to WMAQ for being prepared for the possibility of Severe Weather. The other ones I don't get.
  18. What I read didn't specify.
  19. Wonderful....
  20. Not like the rain snuck up on them. I'm just surprised they did so poorly I guess... I thought these stations were good at multitasking.
  21. Huh... there must be some reason for it... If he's in the open we can rest assured it's his spot.
  22. When you see the word implosion defined in the dictionary... there is a picture of the coverage of the Tornado warning starting at about 455pm on 7. Whoever was producing isn't very good at breaking news. Lots of audio errors.. slow to switch shots... Cheryl Scott bumbling through it and asking Jerry Taft for help.... it wasn't pretty and it wasn't very good. We even got to see the camera spin around from the anchor desk to a vacant green screen while Cheryl Scott was by the monitor not ready to go on camera yet.
  23. I'm stating that he re-signed and that that's what he does. There was nothing ambiguous in my statement if you read it.
  24. Chris Sowers has re-signed with WPVI. He's the weekend morning meteorologist.
  25. Was he actually there on the morning show. Just trying to get some clarification.
