    In Memoriam

That's a great list, lots of iconic talent there. WXYZ's coverage tonight was absolutely perfect, no mistakes, no goofs, no problems, no awkward moments... Just the way Bill Bonds would have demanded it be done. When they want to they can put out some incredible TV. I really wish they would be that incredibly polished more often.

    In Memoriam

WXYZ Is devoting their entire 10pm and most of their 11pm to him, lots of former air personalities either appearing in-studio or on the phone and in interviews conducted tonight. Also a 1999 interview the station did with him has been played. Also a Detroit TV Historian. 5pm Anchor JoAnne Purtan's wedding video that Bonds did an amusing well-wishes comment for, And a shortened weathercast -- similar to decades ago In length in his honor. Bonds gets the last word with the last commentary he ever gave, in 2008 for the stations 60th anniversary. The 11pm newscast will be expanded to 1 hour tonight. Edit: All of the legacy ABC talent has now made some sort of appearance on WXYZ.
  3. WJBK in Detroit has upped Charlie Langton, their Legal Analyst and host of the Thursday/Sunday public affairs program "Let It Rip" to Weekend Morning News Anchor. He has been at WJBK since 2007. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/81497/wjbk-ups-charlie-langton-to-weekend-anchor
  4. Chauncy Glover is leaving his Reporter and Back-up Weekend/Holiday Anchor position at WDIV to be an Anchor/Reporter at KTRK in Houston. I'm thinking he'll start after the New Year down in Houston. He had been at WDIV since 2011.
  5. Looks right to us ET people
  6. Even more of a nice thing to do. Hopefully everything is relatively ok.
  7. That's pretty good. If he didn't give any specific explanation, I suppose he wants to keep it private but didn't want folks to worry about him. Pretty good of him to even post that really.
  8. Also leaving WILX is Anthony Sabella who is taking a Reporter job in Flint at WJRT. http://www.wilx.com/news/haveyouseenthis/headlines/Anthony-Sabella-Says-Goodbye-to-WILX-284251271.html
  9. Good question. They have a 4pm show called "Local 4 News: First At 4" that has been on since 2007. It's a half hour show followed by Inside Edition and then comes the 5-630 news block. Where they are going with these two new hires I don't know although they do have a few folks that are in the twilights of their careers, including Carmen Harlan the lead female anchor at 5, 6 and 11 and Ruth Spencer at 4 (also the consumer reporter).
  10. Can you say "We're playing for younger viewers"?
  11. I remember that too but weren't we a little more uncertain beyond the fact they might sign her depending on what WMAQ does. This is much more concrete than what we talked about before.
  12. Well that's gonna go well, I hope 7 knows what it's doing. They are bound to trip up sooner or later.
  13. WILX in Lansing is losing lead anchor Jason Colthorp to WDIV Detroit where he will be an Anchor/Reporter. He has been with WILX since 2000. His last day at WILX is December 28 and he'll start at WDIV after the new year. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/local/2014/12/01/jason-colthorp-leaving/19749083/
  14. Actually I was trying to say that it went from the "may pick it up" to "picking it up".
  15. For now it looks like "Hot Bench" created by Judge Judy is going to be the new 2pm show next fall on WBBM. That could always change in the next 10 months.
  16. WBBM is going to have a vacancy in their daytime lineup at 2pm starting next summer. Queen Latifah is not being renewed. Not really sure what they'll put there or anything yet.
  17. I suppose the question I would have is: does it get repetitive to do?
  18. Although they did not post the videos online, the versions of Nima's reports that aired here were identical except for "7 Action News" at the end. Pretty nice sinergy here.
  19. I honestly hope WGN wouldn't be dumb enough to get rid of them. I am under the impression the morning talent loves being there so I can't see the extreme scenario happening anytime soon.
  20. WEWS and WXYZ have been using their reporters on their newscasts too so that's probably why.
  21. You whiffed on my meaning 'J, I mean who wants to work thanksgiving? Somewhere else is anywhere but working on thanksgiving... Most likely sleeping In and hanging out with family and friends, going to parties etc. I know I would rather be home than working a lousy parade. Maybe they liked it but I am not implying they'd rather be somewhere else. Just because you do what you are assigned does not me you ran up to the front of the line enthusiastically to do it.
  22. I kind of doubt they get a real choice either, and if given the choice they probably would rather be doing something somewhere else.
  23. Things like that are not openly stated if you still have a job. It's comedy.
  24. WMYD is going to air 10 Oakland University basketball games this season. The games are ESPN3 broadcasts that are aired on WMYD under an agreement with Oakland University. http://www.wxyz.com/sports/wmyd-tv20-detroit-to-broadcast-ten-oakland-university-basketball-games
  25. Dana Rebik joined WGN last week from KCPQ in Seattle as a freelance / per diem general assignment reporter.
