  1. According to Zap2it, Waynesville's Comcast system carries NBC from Jacksonville and CBS/Fox/ABC from Savannah. Plus, the system apparently goes only up to Channel 61, so it's a system Comcast never upgraded.
  2. If it was any other shop, they would’ve re-read the rules to her and suspended her AT WORST. I’m actually glad she took the high road, but STILL...
  3. Back to WOIO’s woes. From relegating Jeff Tanchak to mornings, to firing or forcing out almost every anchor and reporter worth a damn, WOIO is definitely a shell of its former self, all because Raycom wanted to “borg” WOIO into one of its stations, which itself isn’t bad. The problem is that the product was so dumbed down that WOIO now feels bush-league compared to the others. The set is nice and the graphics are nice, but WOIO doesn’t have the “faces” to be competitive, with Chris Tanaka needing a Red Bull and Tiffani Tucker STILL trying to be “Great Value Romona Robinson”.
  4. Ewww! On a more serious note, it’s replacing 4 episodes of Family Feud, so WUAB isn’t losing much. And that’s another thing! What is it with ex-Raycom stations and crappy syndication lineups?!?
  5. Only a matter of time until all of the ex-LIN shells go to Nexstar. Don’t be surprised if Vaughan is next.
  6. That leaves Dr. Phil as the only syndicated show in KDKA’s lineup.
  7. I’d say the WAVE package comes close. However, that seems to be more of a “Limerick 2.0” package planned for ex-Raycom stations so even that might be mutilated mid-cycle under Gray.
  8. Hell, WKYC did a similar thing with Betsy Kling being 5pm anchor WHILE doing weather at 6, 7, and 11.
  9. I’m pretty sure this will be scrutinized, especially if Nexstar intends to do a SSA AND a JSA. If Nexstar simply does a SSA and allows Mission to handle sales, it may go thru easier.
  10. It’ll likely get approved! However, Telemundo will be dropped on the Big Island.
  11. That was the problem in a nutshell. ABC didn't really know what to do with the show and whether it wanted to be a part of the "GMA" brand. It'll be interesting as to ABC's plans in the fall for the 1pm timeslot, but I honestly hope they keep the current "GMA3" format.
  12. I know that WOIO (yes I know its not an O&O) has been doing streaming a "story time" and a "weather school" weekdays in the 10am hour. Also in partnership with Cleveland Metropolitan School District, WUAB airs content for the kids weekdays at 9-10am on TV.
  13. And Nexstar won’t let go of WJW unless Fox made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.
  14. Or stations have been replacing local infotainment shows with newscasts. I know WOIO has dropped Cribbs in the CLE and Sunny Side Up for a traditional 9am newscast. The only brightside to this virus is that it has made WKYC's newscasts more watchable with them focusing on the news.
  15. That's the Coming up L3 and the FSGs. Everything else is unchanged!
  16. KEYC is using Metropolis...in 2020! METROPOLIS...IN THE YEAR 2020!
  17. Meanwhile in Cleveland: https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2019/12/26/done-in-cleveland
  18. Same reason WKYC dumped the Helvetica "3" for the Elevator 3, BECAUSE TEGNA!
  19. No surprise there! All those markets are traditionally basement-dweller markets for CBS.
  20. It might've been due to WATL being owned by Fox at the time. It wouldn't make sense for Fox to run a Fox-turned-CBS affiliate, especially if WATL needed to start up a news department. Luckily, WGNX (WGCL) had a news department, and DID reconsider joining CBS, otherwise we would've had another WWJ on our hands. Speaking of the 1994 affiliatiion switches, was WAKC EVER in the running to become a marketwide ABC or CBS affiliate for Cleveland? I'm talking about an alternate timeline where WOIO and WUAB both said NO to CBS.
  21. Believe it or not, WBRE/WYOU is the only legacy Nexstar news operation takes the simulcast approach. And before you say KSNT/KTKA, that was done in the New Vision days and carried over into LIN, Media General, and now Nexstar. Most news ops like WKBN/WYTV, KODE/KSNF, KRBC/KTAB, etc actually air two SEPERATE newscasts but use the same reporters. Therefore, KWGN and KDVR could maintain seperate branding for a long, long time.
  22. Well it wasn't so much that Tribune wanted the swap, it was CBS that wanted the swap. LIN was simply unwilling to pony up what CBS wanted WISH to pay, but Tribune was for WTTV, plain and simple. That's why MG made a deal so swap out NBC for CBS on WNCN, because Capitol balked at paying what CBS wanted for its programming on WRAL. As far as news on WTTV? It helped that sister station WXIN has a news department, so Tribune can put newscasts for CBS4 together in a broom closet without spending boatloads of money.
  23. And guess who's leading the massacre at WXIN/WTTV? DOMINIC MANCUSO! The same GM that brought the beauty that was "Cleveland 19" to WOIO. All I have to say is: Good luck!
  24. Because calling it "The Five" was already taken.
  25. The only reason that "3News" is doing well at 11pm is because of NBC's primetime lead-ins. "Lunch Break" makes sense because WKYC hasn't had a noon newscast in that slot in a while so it'll take time to establish. Mornings? Yeah I was expecting that since WJW is the 800-lb gorilla and WOIO is just there. 6pm? That's shocking, especially considering Ellen is a lead-in. The question is what happens when the 5pm newscast comes online come January and the February books start.
