How does AT&T get to keep HBO? Last I checked, its still a part of Time Warner, albeit with plenty of autonomy from Turner.
-
Here's the thing: CBS bundles Showtime into its carriage agreements, whereas HBO has a seperate carriage agreement for its channels from the rest of WarnerMedia. On another note, this comes at the worst time for AT&T, which means that now the DoJ now has fuel to fight the merger.

Even New Vision/LIN/MG/Nexstar's treatment of WKBN/WYTV look much better.

#BringBackHBOBoxing But seriously, how many rural people actually watch HBO? It's the same argument that Dish made years ago when they dropped AMC, citing that its viewers (mostly rural) don't really fit AMC's target demo. That, or Charlie Ergen needs to go.

Unless the NBC lawyers can invoke a "morality clause".

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
NEOMatrix replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
I guess Tegna figured that WKYC can maintain 2nd place. Question is, can WOIO or WEWS finally capitalize on Tegna-itis finally infecting the Digital Broadcast Center on Lakeside Avenue?- 3678 replies

They've been trying to phase out Romona in favor of Tucker and Tanaka for the past year ever since Romona gave up the 11pm newscast. Since Romona is no longer getting focus at WOIO/WUAB, it makes sense that she leaves on her terms.
-
IIRC, didn't WUPW have a 6:30pm newscast in the LIN-era? If so, why did Raycom cancel it?
-
As of today, they just did.
-
Or at least put GDS on CBS13 at 4:30-7am and CW31 7-10am. Remember, it still does second place compared to KCRA.

Alrighty Julius. I'm going to be blunt and explain to you why WTXF and KYW will keep running newscasts despite "ratings woes". MONEY! As long as WTXF and KYW can sell ad rates at a decent amount and turn a profit, then ratings won't matter as much as you and I would think. That's why WTXF and KYW expanded its news output because they can keep all the revenue in-house rather than sharing it with a syndicator.

For years, WEWS has been lagging behind WKYC and WJW and, at times, even WOIO. That's why WEWS rebranded the way that it did. Granted, the logo isn't great but only because it's super-generic. However, NewsChannel 5 as a brand wasn't cutting it just like Eyewitness News in 1990. That's why WEWS had to distance itself away and "start over".

Winston Broadcasting Network Cleveland/Akron
NEOMatrix replied to CLETVFan's topic in Corporate Chat
Hide your children! But seriously, you would think that Scripps, Tegna, or Tribune would hop at sending a Brinks truck to Cuyahoga Falls. -
My guess is that ABC wants it's show to clear on time in the #5 market but doesn't give two sh*ts if WBRZ airs it out of pattern as long as it airs. Edit: According to TitanTV, KSAT will DELAY GMA Day, just like The Chew, at 2PM!

Unless it's WUAB getting the 7:30 show (in which case, say goodbye to the 10pm show, AGAIN!), then Jeopardy! Is going to either 3:30pm, 4:30pm, overnights, or WUAB.

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

Without going into a list, WKYC has largely stayed away from any social-media drivel. Instead, they're traditional mainly because it's keeping WJW from being absolute #1 in Cleveland. Hell, it was Gannett that made WKYC relevant after NBC ran it as a basement-dweller from the 70s until 2000.- 3678 replies

That's why WOIO/WUAB are adding newscasts at 9am and 7:30pm. It's a smart way to get some of that Ohio campaign money.
-
At least KUTV, KOTV, and WWL have duopoly partners to continue a post-7am newscast. What about WFMY? AFAIK, they still run The Good Morning Show until 8am and WFMY has no duopoly partner to move the 7am hour.

WGNO would have to do WPTY-to-WATN overhaul and would still somehow end up a laggard.
-
Chalk it up to WFMJ being a massive revenue stream in Youngstown. IDK if it's still true but WFMJ would outrank WKBN and WYTV COMBINED at 6pm thanks to having Oprah as a lead out. Better syndication and local ownership has helped WFMJ maintain dominance over WKBN and "27's bitch".
-
He'll has finally frozen over! Now which syndie show is WFMJ sending to either its CW subchannel or Nexstar?
-
The 8 voices rule was abolished this year, meaning as long as Nexstar can prove that KRBK or KOZL is a 5th place station it's legal.
-
Nexstar can keep all three signals in Springfield since they were already playing the shell game in Springfield. Mission owns KOLR while Nexstar owns KOZL, so believe it or not, the transaction to buy KRBK is legal since they're technically twinsticking with KOZL and I assume one of them isn't in the top 4.

It will pretty much be no different from how WVIZ and WNEO/WEAO operate.
