  1. Just a random thought -- I was looking through the Gannett properties and I think it'll be interesting to see how much the two ex-London Fox affiliates (KIDY/KXVA) will shape up and be changed by the Deathstar. From what I've found, they haven't held a Fox station outright, if ever.
  2. I will speculate and say that since none of the Texas clustered ex-Belo stations have them, and all of the London stations have them they wouldn't do them out of order. But they've surprised me thus far with the rollout, so, no telling.
  3. You can see some more "snippets" of the WVEC integration of the Gannett graphics (mainly the weather graphics) from this story about what they'd do in the event of a hurricane here in Hampton Roads: http://www.wvec.com/video?id=267737871&sec=577832&ref=articlevidmod
  4. The L3 logo... I'm not sure that they've finished coloring it. The words "News" and "Now" are supposed to be gold colored like the 13 is. And I'm surprised they didn't sting the music as well. I noticed that too. Overall, it doesn't look as out of place as I thought it would. I thought the darker colors would clash with the relative brightness of the studio.
  5. So far this year, they've launched their graphics on Wednesday's midday newscasts. The KING stations launched on June 18, WWL launched June 25, and WHAS on July 2. That was the last station to launch the graphics, as they haven't done any since the July 4th holiday. The website roll-out seems to be going slower, however, with the big gap between KVUE's launch way back on May 28th and then KTVB just this past Wednesday. Maybe Gannett has a thing for Wednesdays?
  6. They were originally scheduled to debut the graphics on Wednesday, from the chatter in here, which makes me think it's more likely than not.
  7. I'm thinking that they'll push through next Wednesday, and wouldn't be surprised if they graphic switched next Wednesday as well.
  8. LOL, that reply was all me. He's the Noon anchor, so he would be the one to debut the graphics. Again, my spidey-senses are strong on this one.
  9. I strongly think WVEC will be switching to This is Home next week. My speculatron is high on this one, based on this tweet: https://twitter.com/13LaSalleBlanks/status/490078655507214336 They have no other major changes that I could forsee other than this. Again, pure speculation,
  10. I don't think the major markets in Texas (the former Belos) are at much risk of getting cut as much as the London stations do coming in. Gannett will own 40% of the Texas cable market post-London, and they already own Texas Cable Network (which will now get more station coverage with the London additions). One of their main reasons for acquiring the London stations however was because they are in "growing markets" (Gannett's words, not mine), so even then, I don't think we'll see much more than attrition in time.
  11. I think it was mentioned a few weeks back that their web stream is having some weird issues putting out the music. On the direct-to-video clips they have on the website, and on the cable feed, they sound normal. Maybe they're using DSL or dial-up to stream to the web. Either way... I agree that their whole operation looks 1980, but I reckon that is what Kentuckiana likes -- stability.
  12. One thing I do hope Gannett does -- is I hope they change the branding of the station back to 13News from 13News Now. I absolutely H A T E the way it sounds on air.
  13. Here at WVEC, the meteorologist told me they hope to have it on-air before the end of July, with the website online by the end of August, depending on roll-out at the previous stations (I asked him when KING 5 got theirs)... so it's been a few weeks.
  14. WCNC is scheduled to pick up the graphics. Haven't seen a promo, but someone posted a few weeks back that they'd be the one to get them.
  15. I just watched their 11pm "A" Block... They are clearly using the Sports coloring for ALL things Lebron today. I am noticing the superimposed LBJ photo on the L3 info bar. Edit: They also just spun up a version of the "This is Home" promo entitled "#WelcomeHome", clearly, for Lebron.
  16. Random Thought: I wonder how WVEC will do their "Storm Mode" coverage on the website when they switch over to Presto. If you go to the site today, you'll see how they currently do it.
  17. Duly noted. Somehow, since I don't get holidays off, I forget they even exist. -shrugs- I don't think they'll keep their "Spirit of" themes in any part. While it would make sense for them to keep it (with the ex-London stations, they now cover 83% of the Texas market), I feel like they will push "This is Home" more to consolidate the brand. Here's my weird take on it: Soon, you'll be able to go anywhere in Texas and immediately feel like you're at home, because Station A's graphics (and soon, their website) will probably look like one of your home stations. Thus... This Is Home. -insert Gannett ID here-
  18. So, no news on who's next for graphic launch tomorrow? Also, how long before you think they roll these out to London stations?
  19. WVEC has been using those maps now for about three or four weeks, ever since the KING launch. What's weird is they are alternating between both the old style maps, and the new ones. In all honesty, I'm waiting more for the website refreshes from the platform all these ex-Belo stations are currently using, sans KVUE since they are already using Presto. The current websites are too cluttered with....everything. Guess we'll wait with baited breath on who'll debut graphics by waiting for the promo either tomorrow, or who'll show up noon on Wednesday.
  20. I also think (speculate) that my local station, WVEC is next in line to pick up the Gannett graphics on the 9th. They have been using alot of the G3 pieces over the last week or so. Once I saw the start of the transition, a source at the station said they are in-line to get the graphics sometime before the end of July, with their website due before the end of August.
  21. Not sure if anyone posted this already, but here is KING 5 using the "This Is Home" image promo. Credit to Shawn Mahoney (youtube):
