  1. For starters, they may have to get an actual set. They are literally barebones. If you look at the weekend newscast on their sister, they don't even show the weather radar -- the presenter (because I'm not sure if anchor should be used) reads everything. See below: [yt]uMx0nStDY9c[/yt] The changes from Gannett will be huge, because so far -- their graphics look like they were done in Powerpoint. At least KIII and KCEN have better productions and presentations.
  2. Here's a full shot of KXVA's newscast, with the Gannett end-tag. [yt]3iO1sVWS96M[/yt] Anyone else notice the large Texas stickers on the back of Rick Tomlin's iPad with the Gannett logo on it? New Texas Branding perhaps?
  3. It's not that I'm expecting different behavior... It's that it'll seem "non-normal" to me personally to see a Fox broadcast not all bright and shiny looking.
  4. I think I'm the most interested in how Gannett brands KIDY & KXVA, considering it's their first Fox affiliates. Typically most Fox affiliates go for a bolder, more brighter, more animated look than what their current graphics are.
  5. WFAA, the ex-Belo flagship also has neither, but their website is in production (currently loaded with 2010 stories) -- ux.wfaa.com
  6. ...and while we're sharing "This is Home" promos... Here is KGW's promo using the more "summer, upbeat" version of the Promo music: [yt]TbX-kE_zTa8[/yt] KVUE also now has the "coming soon" banner as well as a video preview of the weather graphics on Facebook, so I'm throwing more salt into your prediction.
  7. It begins! I had I feeling they would push the This is Home theme a lot harder in Texas. I have yet to see one here in VA though.
  8. I noticed that a few days ago. What's ironic however is that KING5's website (which is still in production) still has "A Gannett Company" listed in their to-be-debuted website logo
  9. Based on the fact that G3 hasn't touched a single Texas market station yet -- you're probably right on the KTVB or KREM, both to catch up with their bigger KING clustered brethren. On the website front, WFAA is at least a while away (still in October 2009 for content). KING and NWCN are up to about April of this year with their content loading, so they'd probably launch in a week or two.
  10. I thought it looked fairly the same way. WVEC has the same thing at 12:50, ending the noon show as well. But they also use totally different graphics than the actual newscast. I'd look to one of the stations that currently has an "extended" morning broadcast to see how they're broadcasting the L3s. I know WCNC has "Charlotte Today" but I known there's other stations that has similar programs.
  11. Is that an ACTUAL legitimate news program? Looks more infomercial-ish to me.
  12. There was previous talk of having all the stations switched before the end of August, but alas, there have been no mumblings in recent days of stations who will switch.
  13. I'm willing to bet they're paying for a High Definition box from AT&T too....
  14. That's actually nothing new. Every ex-Belo station has gotten some kind of hate about the change to the semi-permanent L3's -- they just aren't used to it for local news, Frankly, I'm more shocked that people still keep their TV sets on "zoom" anyway -- they end up cutting off ALOT of their other TV show pictures. Also, what do you mean "stretch out"? Being that thought Gannett's L3 are in the safe box, the only problem with people's TV sets are their own TV settings. My favorite one: "cutting off all te bottom junk is preferable".... do they also realize they are cutting off the top and side of the screen as well? smh. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=762893610418798
  15. Now, while we're on the subject of logos... Dear God, those London stations actually might benefit from the Gannett look. And the Gannett CMS. And probably Gannett itself.
  16. I don't see why they would... They already have the network worked into their primary logo. If anything, I think they'd drop the WFAA and call it News 8 or Channel 8 News.
  17. WFAA is apparently being prepped for the Presto web layout -- their content staging subdomain is live: http://ux.wfaa.com It looks like they copied KVUE's site over to the WFAA domain, because all the content links back to KVUE.
  18. I didn't know that the football helmet story was group-wide -- WVEC did their story in April. But I can see how WCNC and the other single-outlet stations (WHAS, WVEC) would benefit from the greater good of Gannett. They lacked the big power of being clustered like Texas and the Northwest stations. You could tell, not with WVEC so much, but looking at WHAS and WCNC, they were so far out of Daddy Belo's pockets, it was painful to see. Maybe some improvements will come in the total product of these stations. We'll see.
  19. and it appears they might be ahead of some others, if they are getting custom This is Home themes...
  20. It is probably the best ex-Belo station to have their graphic "fit" their studio look, IMO They're gonna have to work on that name. "WCNC News" would work just fine, but I think since they've built that "NBC Charlotte" name/brand (if you search for WCNC on Facebook, it "redirects to NBC Charlotte), they don't want to get rid of the ties they have with it. But again, Deathstar PROBABLY wanted to lessen the O&O feel that the name held, so they forced those call letters in there in front.
  21. The base of it is TiH, but it *almost* sounds custom mixed with extra hits of the "This is Home" chords. EDIT: That close though...that was something not in the TiH I've heard on the NMSA website...
  22. So, they're gonna use the Gannett building blocks for their syndicated programs too? Didn't know Judge Judy was a part of the team there. On the bright side... it DOES show improvement over their previous graphics. And that'd be the first time I've seen the bug animation not show the website next.
  23. That isn't too terrible looking... The VoiceOver is "WCNC NBC Charlotte news"
  24. I'm watching their (WCNC's) stream online right now... I wonder if Charlotte Today's graphics will change tomorrow... They aren't the only station to put that there. One of the NW cluster stations does the same thing.
