    I meant to report that the other day, that the legacy Gannett stations had migrated to what was the legacy Belo mobile app platform. I've been using the one for WVEC/13NewsNow and I much more desire the Previous Gannett platforms, if for no other reason that it matched the websites with color schemes, etc.

    Marcia says they will stay in the DC Metro. From TVNewsCheck: In other TEGNA related news, they are also reporting a $417.4mil 2Q earnings figure, which was up 3% from last years $348m. This didn't include the publishing numbers, which will come out next week. It should be noted that Q2 figures are still from when they were one company, and that TEGNA is the legal successor of Gannett, and not the publishing company. That is important because TEGNA retained the debt structure from the combined company, so their earnings will be paying down the debt of the two companies pre-split. And everyone expects these revenue numbers to jump -- it is election time after all, and that is one thing they highlighted in their release -- the lack of $14mil in political spending.     TEGNA announced that they have sold their McLean, VA HQ to the Tamares Group for $270m. As part of the sale, they will remain in the building for the next 18 months while they search for a new home for their business.     He's managed before. He has a knack of being able to switch to general spiritual well-being talk without their being religious tone to it. Creative on the part of Tegna, but I agree, in the markets they chose, save WFAA & maybe 11Alive) I don't think it'll fare too well.

    I'd think it'd be rather easy considering the pro-forma nature of these transactions. Hell, they paid someone to come up with the Tegna name, they can pay an in-house counsel to reorganize and restructure their company.

    I'm no expert in corporate parent-child structures... but that structure seems extremely convoluted, both before and after. I'm sure there are tax implications, etc. on why they are keeping the structure that way, but it just seems extra-busy to me.

    Why? Newspaper revenue is on the decline and the main reason Gannett is splitting broadcast and newspapers is because the print side is a cash black hole. That's why Time-Warner spun off Time, News Corp spun off 21st Century, and Tribune split into Print and broadcast. I don't think there are too many media conglomerates looking to expand.

    Thats not at all likely for two reasons: One, there are plenty of local newsroom/local newspaper partnerships across the country that span corporate borders. At the local level, their main goal is to save money -- the local station can pick up a newspaper story without having to send a reporter out to actually investigate (ie doesn't have to spend more money), while the local paper can potentially increase their readership with more people picking up the paper to read in depth on the story. (At least that's how WVEC & Virginian Pilot have done their partnership over the years) Two, is the more prominent reason: I don't think Jeff Bezos would sell WaPo.

    The more I watch KIII, the more there decision to not alter their logo to fit into the G3 logo box and instead just paste the time/temp below the logo (and most likely outside the safe area) just bugs me. I'm not sure if it's totally their fault or if it's the limitations of their system, but it just looks...odd. SN: Here's a video of their open.     So basically... Gannett paid a marketing firm a lot of money to scramble the letters in their name, and create a definition for it.

    Except...they aren't the same. WFAA, KHOU and KBMT use a (newer) cut from the theme, one that wasn't heard prior to the Belo stations being integrated. The cut FCN and KPNX use are TOTALLY different in themation, musical elements and tone, and we're part of the original TIH package. I think you're confused on the theme music of the stations.

    That was their half assed rollout. SA is right, they've since changed to the KING cuts. EDIT: I shouldn't call it half-assed. That is only my opinion.

    It is, and I think that's why WFAA and KHOU both use it. I was hoping it would spread through the all of new London stations, but apparently KBMT was the only station to pick it up The video also cleared up my question of how they were doing the dual-affiliation thing. It's clear that they have multiple logos, using the ABC branded 12News logo on the 6, and 10pm newscasts,and the NBC branded 12News logo at noon & 6:30. If I were guessing, I'd also say they have a unbranded one for Daybreak.

    You did actually manage to surprise with the music cut as well... I think that actually fits somewhere in with the overall FOX theme. The backdrop on the chroma looks good also. Other than Barrett's rough tosses at the end of his segments, I actually think it turned out pretty good.

Hopefully AI-SA-TX gives us a link/video of the open. (wink wink). Still waiting to get a grab of KIII's open as well. After the KXVA & KIDY switch, all of the ex-London stations will be on the new graphics.

    Technically, the company is currently named Gannett Spinco, Inc (a Gannett subsidiary) so you almost have your wish.

    Both the browns and Gannett/Tegna probably paid some firm half a million bucks to come up with it.

    So, I see that instead of modifying the logo to fit in the logo box constraints, they just moved the time/temp off to where the ticker would be.

    I believe he said once before that they are stuck with Worldnow until January 2016, at the earliest.

    That is scheduled to be the same day as KIDY/KXVA, unless they slide to the right as well.
