And I don't think Sinclair can buy anyway because of the troubles Sinclair had with the FCC regarding the Tribune deal. Speaking of wish, I wish Tribune was still around.

Canada After 20 years of delivering the morning news on CBC Newsworld/CBC News Network, Heather Hiscox has decided to retire. There'll be a cross-country road trip for CBC Morning Live during the summer before she finishes her run on November 6th, exactly 20 years after she began her run. https://www.cbc.ca/news/heather-hiscox-leaving-cbc-news-1.7551841

No they wouldn't be satellites, they would help WISN bolster Wisconsin coverage. Plus, Hearst would be smart to bring them all back to their own independence (that's IF Hearst were to acquire them, not saying it WILL acquire them).

For the next two days before his retirement from WTHR, Chuck Lofton will be delivering the weather... from the Chuck Lofton Studio as WTHR has commenced as of today. Chuck retires on Friday after a 40-year run that also has included gifted signed jerseys from the Colts (signed by the late Jim Irsay), Pacers (signed by Tyrese Haliburton), and Fever (signed by Caitlin Clark) plus an invitation to join the Pacers' upcoming (maybe) Championship Parade. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DKfkITbvoj4/?igsh=MWN0a3RreGxxbm9hNw==

Update WDAY-TV has found their replacement for John Wheeler as Chief Meteorologist... ... its Jesse Ritka. For those of you who've been on the forum for so long, she used to work at WTMJ-TV Milwaukee for a decade before joining WDAY-TV shortly before COVID took over. Now, she gets the Chief gig full-time and leading a weather team of six which is rare for a market that size. https://www.facebook.com/wdaytv/posts/congratulations-to-jesse-ritka-wdays-new-chief-meteorologist-jesse-has-been-with/1095953142566157/ Here, she's being interviewed by former KVLY-TV anchor Robin Huebner (who you don't see or hear here) who TIL works for The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, the TV station's sister daily newspaper:

I can tell you this, it won't be clean for Gray if they even wanted to buy more stations. The only markets Gray doesn't have a presence in with Allen stations are Chico-Redding, Terre Haute, Lafayette (both in Indiana and Louisiana, Gray's last market where it doesn't own a station in that state), Tupelo/Columbus, Eugene, and Medford.

One of the new shows on the new WXPX Channel 66, which will be Independent as The Spot - Tampa Bay 66... WFTS' streaming weather show, Denis Phillips Live. It begins the day the Independence era begins. https://www.facebook.com/denisphillipsweatherman/posts/2-buttons-1-bans-people-while-the-other-immediately-goes-to-commercial-break-so-/1269147774574148/

Phillippines DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo are back on the air in the Philippines. After a five-year absence because ex-President Rodrigo Duterte wanted to get his way and pull ABS-CBN's licenses from broadcasting, ABS-CBN has been finding ways and loopholes to bring their content back on the air. Thanks to the Media Serbisyo Production Corporation (MSPC), a joint venture of the Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC) and ABS-CBN Corporation, both Radyo Patrol and TeleRadyo are back.

The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread
TheRolyPoly replied to NEOMatrix's topic in Graphics
I have a rolling list of stations that have yet to switch to GrayONE. 52 news departments have yet to switch. KOSA/KCWO has somewhat soft-launched with their logo but still using old graphics. -
This is an exclusive from Front Office Sports regarding how Inside the NBA on ESPN and ABC will operate next season. I will do a list, so apologies, but its to drive the bullet points home from this article... TL;DR: The show will lead ESPN's pregame and halftime programs. There will be an extensive postgame show, which ESPN wants to run as long as it has been on TNT. They'll be on Opening Week, Christmas Day, all ABC games after Jan. 1st, and the final week of the season. The show will air live during their biggest NBA events, including the playoffs (like before), conference finals (like before), and, for the first time, the NBA Finals. https://frontofficesports.com/inside-inside-the-nba-transition-to-espn/

Yes, this is a real YouTube video, but I didn't have this on my bingo card. Days ago, CBS News released a YouTube video of... Walter Cronkite and the CBS Evening News from June 1971, set to ASMR on a rainy night in New York City. The video is nearly 3 hours and 20 minutes long.

Here's the YouTube version.

I can only see Hearst buying WKOW and the Wisconsin stations to bolster WISN plus WAAY to bolster WVTM. The rest would be difficult for Hearst to imagine buying. I don't see them going back to Hawaii (for KITV).

Fair point.

Losing a network affiliate and becoming an independent isn't as hard of a downfall as it used to be... I mean look at the news-intensive independents that have popped up recently. Now we'll have WPLG Miami and WANF Atlanta as the latest such examples.
-
IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME. The sooner it is off Allen's hands, the better. This means all of Allen's dumb moves will be reversed immediately. Stations like WJRT, KVOA, and WTHI must be rejoicing at this news.
-
Wow. Wooow. Woooooooow. Gray is going to take serious advantage now of WANF and its new status as a news-intensive Independent. I wonder how they'll use WPCH now since they'll use WANF to air more news.
-
Not flagship WLTV/WAMI though since they're housed with the network.

IMHO: WNBC and WABC's new newsrooms HAVE STEPPED UP THEIR GAME. It makes WCBS, WNYW, WPIX, and WXTV's newsrooms appear inferior by comparison (I'm not sure I've seen the newsrooms of either NY1 or News 12). To me, WNBC and WABC's newsrooms look like the future of television news and where its heading today... adapting to everything, including streaming.
-
The Pacers won tonight and won the series in six. This means that the last-ever Inside the NBA episode (on TNT proper before its move to ESPN/ABC next season) is airing now.
-
With that, the last of the NBC/Telemundo building divides (in terms of main operations) has finally closed. NYC was the last market where the NBC (30 Rock) and Telemundo (Fort Lee, N.J.) stations were in separate places.

Big changes at WIFR Rockford: Chief Meteorologist Mark Henderson is out after 22 years. https://www.rockrivercurrent.com/2025/05/mark-henderson-chief-meteorologist-at-wifr-out-after-22-years-in-rockford-tv/ Also, Andy Gannon is retiring August 1st after a 42-year run. Mike Garrigan is moving from evenings to mornings to replace him. https://www.adweek.com/tvspy/andy-gannon-to-retire-from-wifr-in-rockford-after-more-than-42-years/

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
TheRolyPoly replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
For TEGNA's CBS affiliates that want to do more news at noon but can't because of CBS programming... Put it on streaming! That's what WTSP has recently started to do with a live half-hour newscast at 12:30pm on 10 Tampa Bay+.- 3697 replies

This morning, the Fart Tank came back. If you haven't seen the original, it's still (IMO) the best Morning News bit they've ever done. https://youtu.be/NAesSGtlCqY?si=FnmKO77veXO3QUKv

EDIT: Also adding Jean Jadhon's final newscast at WDBJ 7 after 33 years. Its "retirement" season, y'all.
