1. Another TV personality is retiring, so speaking of Kevin and Denise White and all others who are retiring, Patrick Prokop is getting ready for his final newscast tomorrow after 38 years in weather broadcasting, 35 of them at the good ol' one and only, WTOC Channel 11. (Video courtesy from WTOC 11's Facebook page, 30 or so minutes ago from this post)
2. Sorry for double post but... Nicholas Russo (Chief Meteorologist at WOAY-TV 50 in Bluefield, WV - @nickVrusso) replied on my blog's Twitter (@ChangeNewsBlog) that today was KMID 2's last day in the old building and the new studio and building is expected to be launched by next week. Nicholas Russo used to work at KMID 2 in Midland and has a friend who still works there.
3. It's even sadder if you never knew him or his work and should have. RIP Vince. You not only made WITI better, but also WISN better, just for being there.
4. All right... here comes the following: WOWK News WTRF News WVNS News Local 12 News or WBOY News Plus... WVFirst.com/(station's callsign) or WVProud.com/(station's callsign) (station's callsign).WVFirst.com or (station's callsign).WVProud.com
5. Sad news out of the San Francisco Bay Area:
6. Plus, there was already established news departments in Spanish in the market by KINC 15 (Univision; Noticias 15 - Entravision) and KBLR 39 (Telemundo; Noticiero Telemundo 39 - Telemundo O&O)
7. Sorry for double posting but... Mark Koebrich (KUSA) Denise White (WTVT) Bob Black (WFMJ) Rich Newberg (WIVB) Jim Sinkovitz (WGAL) SusquValleyWGAL mentioned this on the chat box: After 40 years in television, most of that time in Susquehanna Valley broadcasting and at WGAL 8, Jim Sinkovitz is calling it quits and retiring at the end of December: http://www.pennlive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/11/wgal_reporteranchor_jim_sinkov.html
8. Ah okay. Thank you! I never knew that.
9. Idk if this has been talked about before in this thread, but here's the reason why WPMI 15 had to cancel their 4:30am newscast earlier this year and I didn't know about it:
10. However unlike Mark and Denise, it seems like Bob and Rich remain committed to their stations in the future for future projects and possibly special reports and in Rich's case, documentaries.
11. The Retirement Holiday Rush. Welcome to the after sweeps party! But in all seriousness, well done to him. I hope he gets to enjoy his retirement very well.
12. At least at WTVT. Now it seems like every long-timer at WTVT wants to retire the day before Thanksgiving.
13. I remember her through research that she and ironically enough, Frank Robertson (retired), anchored WSVN's NewsCenter 7 - LIVE at 5:00 together and the two end up working together again when Denise moved to WTVT and reunited with Frank again on WTVT's 5pm news when it was a 3-person crew with Frank's husband, Kathy Fountain (another retiree). This is who WTVT has lost in the past year: Anne Dwyer (this past Summer, June 18th, 2014) John Wilson (the day before Thanksgiving last year) Denise White (the day before Thanksgiving this year) Man, WTVT 13 is losing some very good people. And I love WTVT 13. Very sad that she's leaving. I'll miss her there. But now, who will replace her?

15. Yeah. It will be 30 minutes by next week, but for right now, its 7 minutes with the rest of the hour filled by Crime Watch Daily. It seems like the new operation is coming out from WXIX 19, but I'm totally not sure. At least the weather part will be. Eventually, a full 30-minute newscast is coming by next week with a repeat broadcast being added at 11:00 p.m. at the same time. Details NOW on my blog.
16. The 4am weekday morning news trend is growing by the month...
17. I have an idea for a new syndicated show... the UK game show import Fifteen to One from John M. Lewis and introduced by William G. Stewart on Channel 4! A half-hour syndicated show seen on weekdays.
18. I'm surprised they haven't done so either, since their sister ABC stations WFTV and WSB air hour-long 4pm newscasts. Plus, they can either move Dr. Phil to WAXN or in WRAL/WRAZ's case, put the 4pm newscast on WAXN. But I see WSOC/WAXN, just like WFTV/WRDQ, so that may not happen. I can only see WSOC kick out Dr. Phil to WAXN in favor of a new 4pm newscast, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon either.
19. From what I heard in the WKTV interview at 5:30pm from yesterday that's now online, "CBS Utica 2" (a stupid name IMO) will simulcast all WKTV newscasts until there are CBS-specific newscasts for the digital subchannel. It may continue to simulcast WKTV's main news after that, but I'm not really sure about that. And now, Utica will have all 6 affiliations: WKTV 2: - NBC on 2.1 - CBS on 2.2 - CW on 2.3 WUTR 20: - ABC on 20.1 - MyTV on 20.2 (also WPNY 11) WFXV 33: - FOX on 33.1
20. CORRECTION: WKTV 2.3 will be SD OTA and HD on TWC. My bad.
21. WKTV 2.1 is already in HD and I believe that WKTV 2.2 will be the same. They are currently upgrading for WKTV 2.3 to be broadcast in HD as well, so I think WKTV 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 will be in HD, with 2.4 remaining in SD. WDAY is similar, except that its 2 in HD and 2 in SD, even though all 4 of WDAY's subchannels are in 16:9.
22. Don't be surprised that the terrible ratings of The Meredith Vieira Show will make stations start airing more local newscasts. WPBF 25 (WCVB 5's sister station in Palm Beach) has already done so by adding a 9:00 a.m. hour-long weekday newscast weeks ago while pushing Meredith to 1:05 a.m. and now, it looks like WCVB 5 is doing the same.
23. According to NMSA, the WNDU 1991 News Theme by Collier Concepts. Its weird because it says that WSOC used it from 1985-1996. It also mentions WROC using it from 1990-1991, before WNDU starting using it.
24. Oh yeah, I forgot. Whoops. Sorry about that.
25. Its kinda funny because WGEN 8 (MundoMax in my home market) is 75% owned by Maple, LLC and 25% owned by Caracol, yet XETV 6 (CW in San Diego) is 100% owned by Mexican conglomerate Televisa.
