  1. Just like KTVU... NOPE.
  2. Why does it also remind me of WPTA from back then? Similar graphics and name.
  3. Yeah. It reminds me of WTVJ when they used a "4"-shaped desk in the '70s.
  4. Fixed it to make the appropriate words, capitalized. Blame it on these 4 initials... DWTS. ABC is not willing to pre-empt this show and apparently, it has more meaning than Sports.
  5. Is WLS 7 really going for a WGN Sports-type of thing when it comes to sports events? Because they seem like to acquire sporting games like the Cubs and recently, the Wolves.
  6. And the MCTYW theme is still alive in Buffalo.
  7. Transdiffusion has very good archive material. Please check them out. Lots of ITV closedowns and BBC material on there. Highly recommended.
  8. Another Philly great, out the door. As much as KYW did well in Pope coverage, they still are dealing with exodus in talent.
  9. Would anybody rate WCAU 10's coverage of the pope, last among Philly news stations because of this issue or because of the way they handled the coverage?
  10. Sorry for the double post, but WGN Sports on WISH-TV has been expanded to include the Chicago Blackhawks with 19 games: http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/88952/wish-indianapolis-lands-chicago-blackhawks
  11. Not surprised that Channel 9 has beat Channel 2 in the first night and won't be surprised when Channel 9 will continue to beat Channel 2 at 10pm. For all I care, they probably already beat Channel 2 at 11am and 5pm.
  12. But has anybody dethroned Action News in all newscasts in a certain time frame? NO. Action News has won the Philly news ratings for 40 years. That's not changing anytime soon. Besides, I love their station, Jim Gardner, MCTYW and their news van again!
  13. Let's be honest... NOBODY and I mean... NOBODY is going to have a chance of dethroning Action News anytime soon. As long as... 1) Jim Gardner is still there. 2) Action News is still... Action News. 3) The MCTYW theme is still playing. Then there will be no dethroning from WPVI 6, anytime soon. I just don't see that happening.
  14. More like the mid-late '70s specifically.
  15. But now, thanks to Nexstar ownership, its Local 22/Local 44 News.
  16. Same can be said for LocateTV and Zap2it. I'll be reporting on this, shortly on my blog. UPDATE: Celebrity Taste Makers has been moved to Saturdays at 6:00 p.m.
  17. So which you'd prefer, San Diego 6 News at 4:00, The NOW San Diego, NBC 7 News at 4:00 or FOX 5 News at 4:00? It sounds like you like KNSD's 4pm news more. Eventually, KFMB may go back and KUSI will join everybody at some point.
  18. Demetrius should do midday. Paul already does 4 hours and probably doesn't want 2 more hours to that.
  19. But they should add more to be more competitive. After all, they are beating WIVT 34 by a longshot.
  20. Makes me wonder why WICZ only has two newscasts. I thought they would have more by now.
  21. ICYMI, WFXR 27 launched its new in-house local news operation today. The morning newscast has been renamed WFXR News - Good Day Virginia and is now on the air from 5:00-9:00 a.m. weekday mornings. WFXR News - First at 10:00 has always been an hour-long on weeknights, but will soon be an hour on weekends too, starting October 3rd. And it looks like WFXR 27 is using somewhat different graphics from other Nexstar stations and they've decided to use Extreme by Stephen Arnold Music. You can see a small portion of the 10:00pm news open under this story's video: http://www.virginiafirst.com/news/local-news/wfxrs-commitment-to-local-news
  22. Good luck with that. WCVB has been ABC since Day 1 and is one of America's strongest ABC affiliates. In fact, Hearst has several including KOAT and WISN, among others.
  23. BOTH. Traditional newscasts will continue. Concepts like "NewsFix" will continue to suck.
  24. Archive time! An interview with Linda from 2012. And a drawing from 2009, which was broadcast on WGN America:
  25. A very fitting move for WGN. Glad that they are letting Linda do it for one last time. Again, I liked Linda more than the other personalities that they had. (Used to watch through Superstation WGN, then WGN America.)
