  1. Actually I don't see the Nexstar NBC package coming to KFOR. I imagine that either KFOR is going to get the variant of the KOIN pkg that WKRN will be getting October 1 or, they may wait until the localized version of the Graphics that will be used on NewsNation starts to get rolled out to to the stations (and that'll be awhile before that happens)
  2. True but considering the fact that WFLA and WKRN are switching to this package I think it would only be fair to see WCMH get this as well (I think most likely they'd get the WFLA version and not the version WKRN is launching)
  3. I also suspect that WCMH is probably going to switch to that package as well. I don't expect every single Nexstar station to switch to this package but there will be a handful of those that do end up switching to this package.
  4. This could either backfire on NBC Sports for doing away with sideline reporters or this will start a trend with all of the RSNs across the country doing away with sideline reporters for all of the sports the RSNs in general covers. But don't expect ESPN and other national networks to do away with sideline reporters though at least, not yet.
  5. I doubt it. Look at what happened to AT&T and they have much fewer number of RSNs than Sinclair yet they couldn't sell because Cord Cutting. Yes Sinclair wants to bundle the RSNs with the TV stations but Sinclair at some point is going to have to decide is it really worth keeping both local stations and RSNs together? If not what's going to attract the buyers more and who's going to pay top dollar for it? Right now I say local TV stations is the one that'd be more attractive to sell by itself than it would to sell the RSNs but the question becomes this. Is it worth it for Sinclair to sell the TV stations by itself or is it worth it to sell both Locala TV stations and RSNs together in one package? And if it's the latter would be more attractive or less attractive to the perspective buyer of the assets?
  6. And then there was this one we were discussing about in Discord. A retrospective of his entire career in broadcasting as Director. He did leave KTVY/KFOR for OETA I believe around late 1992/early 1993 where he produced and directed some of the specials (including the Centennial anniversary of Oklahoma becoming a state in 2007) as seen here
  7. From the TVNT Discord classic files we go all the way back to the very last stages of Channel 4 under the callsign KTVY during the Spring of 1990 this is actually in the form of the directors track. (h/t @Weeters)
  8. I'm a big NASCAR fan as well and even though I didn't really didn't start following NASCAR until roughly the last year or two of the Winston Cup era if I remember correctly even when NBC came back from that SR in 2001 I believe it still had the TNT logo on it and the pit reporters I believe had their TNT firesuit on even after NBC rejoined the race and I think the last 20 laps of the race or so was a simulcast between NBC and TNT. That day had to be one of the craziest days in the 5 year partnership between NBC and Turner covering NASCAR with NBC having to break away from the race to do the SR and everything else surrounding that.
  9. As long as Nexstar is being truthful and not pulling any of the stunts Sinclair tried to pull off, they might be ok. But anything is possible.
  10. Do we know what they'll name their newscasts yet or no? My thinking was with this being confirmed, RTV 6 News will probably either be modified as WRTV 6 News or rebranded to WRTV News.
  11. I could see such scenario but the thing is though Shepard is 56 and Lester is 61 so both of them are only 5 years apart I won't go much further into speculation beyond what I will say though but if say Lester continued to do NN until 70 (so for another 8 and a half to 9 years) Smith would be 64 to 65 by the time he would step into the NN chair (assuming Smith is the successor to Holt). I have to wonder what other options NBC has for Lester's replacement beyond Shep?
  12. The News with Brian Williams actually started out on MSNBC (which premeried the day the network made its debut) and then when Williams was announced as the successor to Tom Brokaw on NBC Nightly News when Brokaw retired and subsquently Williams stepped down from The News it was when the progam moved to CNBC from MSNBC in 2002 and it was retitled to "The News on CNBC"
  13. From the TVNT Discord files (h/t @TennTV1983) Shepard Smith will now join CNBC and launch an evening news show. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/shepard-smith-host-evening-newscast-cnbc-1302483 This is a huge hire for NBC in a lot of ways and given that CNBC doesn't have that much to offer in the evenings bringing in someone with experience like Smith is a huge move by NBC.
  14. Can't say I'm surprised on that one. And KOKH wonders why they're in last place in the ratings Anyway we have a shocker on the RSN front, former Universal Studios executive Steve Rosenberg has been tapped to lead Sinclair's Sports division (which includes the RSNs, Stadium and its High School division)
  15. I went ahead and started a new thread related to the U.S. Open (and other USGA-related events) returning to NBC
  16. Not only that but also the economic conditions created by COVID-19 will in all likelihood make any effort made by Lockwood to start a news department from scratch unlikely.
  17. I have to wonder if its feasible for a market the size of Knoxville to have 4 in house news departments? Depending the size of WTNZ/WKNX's facility it might be big enough to accomodate an in house news department for WTNZ
  18. Wasn't WESH still with the V1 version on the L3rds or was that something else? It looks like V1 just from the thumbnail of the video alone but I could be wrong
  19. Which KOCO was pretty much in the same boat as WCVB, having the Camera V2 graphics but some parts of it were still V1.
  20. I believe KOCO got them just before WCVB got theirs. Here's WCVB from roughly the same period (about a month after KOCO received theirs) it's possible though that CVB could've gotten the Camera 2.0 graphics in the Summer of 1998 before KOCO got theirs (in all likelihood because KOCO was just recovering from a tornado that damaged their studio about 3 months prior to receive the Camera Mandate 2.0 graphics
  21. I've seen teases of KOKH in the new graphics but so far it's been limited to promos. Nothing in the newscast as of yet. What I do know is that it's eventually going to come to both KOKH and KTUL the only question isn't a matter of if but when.
  22. Hate to bump up a stagnant thread but Sinclair is going to launch a Headline News Service that will run from 6 to 9am initially on stations affiliated with the CW and MyNetworkTV respectively as well as its own OTT service, STIRR. Scheduled to launch early next year https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/250273/sinclair-to-launch-headline-news-service/ Don't be surprised if this expands eventually to other affiliates (particulary the ones without news departments).
  23. Maybe KOAA is trying to pull a KGUN. Because KGUN never did pick up the previous gfx pkg other than the weather gfx.
  24. Somehow we missed this one. WGBA now has the graphics and I actually like the fact they incorporated the NBC chimes into the music pkg.
  25. Tegna and Standard General are scheduled to meet this week (h/t @ChocoMingo) https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/6/8/tegna-to-meet-with-standard-general-this-week Even though Kim did lose out on Tegna board seats back in April it should be interesting to see how this meeting goes and will have a follow up once any new developments comes out.
