  1. Spot on, unfortunately, Rusty is going to probably ignore your post and instead target mreKCTV5's post above mine because he would rather continue with the things that should never be a part of the forum and unfortunately the mods aren't going to do a thing about it either.
  2. You don't have to change your mind, but we don't have to listen to you either.
  3. You need to look at yourself in the mirror and realize the things that you're saying isn't in line with what the vast majority of the people on this forum is thinking. And I will tell you this, by calling on staff to have an ignore button is very childish of you because you clearly cannot handle a healthy public discourse or anybody who has a much different opinion than you, that type of attitude was what nearly drove me out of the BP Discord server, you need to learn how to agree to disagree on things, you have your own opinons and I have my own opinions, EVERYBODY on this forum has their own opinions but to go out there and just say "Oh I need to ignore this person because his opinion is not in line with mine" that's childish. I recommend either taking time away from this and getting yourself mentally right or focus on the other aspects of TV News that you're passionate about and just stay in that lane because mentally I don't think you're a good fit for at least this portion of the forum (or even on the Discord server for that matter), you can react with all the angry's and the haha's you want to but that's just the truth. And oh by the way there's no such thing as being cheerleaders for this company or that company or a hater of this company or that company it's just that we're calling it the way we all in here collectively see it, whether it's a good opinion, bad opinion, etc, it doesn't matter so for you to label people as "Hearst lovers", "Tegna haters", "Scripps haters" I think is also childish and you need to take that out of your vocabulary too. That's all I got to say if people want to gang up and attack me be my guest but I'm not going to change my approach just because people try to convince that their opinion is better than mine or anyone else's I will gladly respect everyone else's opinions as long as you respect mine and we can all have a good healthy discourse about subjects related to broadcasting because at the end of the day we're all broadcast nerds and we're all here to have fun and have a good lively conversation about things, if that can't happen why would I or anyone else be here partaking on this forum or even on the Discord for that matter.
  4. No I'm not dum dum
  5. Yeah they would have because they'd have to go up against the McBride's and you'd be saying the same thing you're saying about Hearst being "bullied" out of Fort Myers so you're wrong on that assumption
  6. I have and there is no scale disadvantage for Hearst and no the McBride's cannot bully Hearst out of the market, if anything it's more likely we both bully each other out of the forum before the McBride's bully Hearst out of Fort Myers. Hearst wasn't dumb when they purchased WBBH and the LMA for WZVN they knew what they we're doing I've already said that they knew what they we're doing I don't know how many times, in fact we'd be having the same debate over this had Nexstar and Gray bought WBBH/WZVN. The Waterman's knew that Edith had a goal of getting out of the broadcasting business before her 100th birthday, she did exactly that, there really was no stupidity on either side.
  7. There is no scale disadvantage for Hearst, they are fine where they're at, they don't buy stations unless it's for the right station and for the right price. It's not ludicrious that Hearst spent $200M plus to get WBBH/WZVN
  8. I think it's a crazy take, there's no way the McBride's is going to bully Hearst out of the Fort Myers market despite the internal issues that typically comes up in the Fort Myers market. If they have to settle for playing 2nd fiddle to the McBride's so be it, they're used to being in that role in other markets they're in anyway.
  9. ESPN is actually not going to drop MLB altogether per Andrew Marchand Per the framework agreement they get MLB.TV into ESPN's new DTC package plus the 5 MLB teams' local media rights that MLB currently has control over (Rockies, D-Backs, Padres, Twins and Guardians)
  10. My thinking is that they pair down on the number of stations they own and operate before they get taken over, I have doubts they get Cox because for one thing Apollo's asking price is way too much, the $4 billion dollar sticker price they're asking for the whole company (including radio) it's very close to exactly how much Sinclair is in DEBT. I think within the next year or two, the Smith family is going to have to realize that the transactions they made to Rincon isn't the last time they're going to make any sales, I think they got a lot more coming, I don't think they get rid of their core stations in Baltimore, Columbus, D.C., markets like that, which are core to Sinclair, but I do anticipate a pair down of the amount of stations they own followed by the takeover.
  11. I think the announcement today proved that Sinclair was only bluffing just to make Nexstar enter into that agreement If it weren't for that, Nexstar would've waited until after the FCC's meeting in September to decide if they wanted to buy Tegna or not, I think Nexstar knew exactly what Sinclair was trying to do which was to swipe in there and take Tegna from underneath their rug and Nexstar wasn't going to let that happen.
  12. After some people have been pondering for almost a year this question: When will KOTV 6 in Tulsa finally get a new set after their sister station KWTV just down the Pike got theirs last September? We finally have our answer https://www.newson6.com/story/685db2b747edbfd2ad80ecd3/news-on-6-tulsa-new-set-debut
  13. KFOR with Mike Morgan doing the weather in 1994
  14. KTVY (now-KFOR) from sometime in early 1982 https://youtube.com/watch?v=Wye7QRf4hn0&si=3lWn9SiB1dcbyn2Z
  15. And Judge Lopez has ordered Diamond to pay the affected teams in full within 5 days So buckle your seatbelts folks, things is about to get very interesting in a hurry.
  16. The News 9 Now subchannel is having major technical difficulties, can't even replay the main stations Noon show as well. This is all part of this move, they have to get the kinks worked out.
  17. The current KWTV facilities will not be torn down. In fact Griffin Media is donating EVERYTHING in the current building to Langston University with Langston set to move it's Journalism Program to the Kelley Ave Studios in January
  18. KTEN from 1994 and it features a minute long news intro
  19. Which in past experiences with P/E firms being in the business they don't give raises so I really don't expect Standard to do that with the Tegna stations unless Kim decides to step in and give the employees pay raises (which I have my doubts he would do that)
  20. While I do agree that Apollo wouldn't be any better however, we still don't know whether or not Tegna's employees will be the "real victims" because other than Apollo not having voting rights there is still way too many unknowns with this deal. And we won't know that until the ink is finally dry.
  21. Bloomberg is reporting that TEGNA is in advanced talks to sell it's broadcast group to Standard/Apollo for $24 per share Details (which are limited considering the paywall): Apollo is backing this bid and will recieve perferred shares in Tegna's stock but will not get voting rights The deal coulld be announced the next few weeks
  22. Kelly Ogle is transitioning to a new role at News 9. His last newscast will be tomorrow night and then after that he'll be doing occaisional "Special Reports"
  23. I would say anything above 15 to 20% would be enough to trigger common ownership considering that WOAI (along with KGET in Bakersfield) were sold to High Plains.
  24. There's a lot of unknowns to this thing. In fact we don't even know what the ownership structure of this entity is going to be like. And even though the report did say that Apollo would keep the Cox stations separate I'm just not sure that the FCC would be convinced that they would even allow Apollo to keep the Cox stations in markets they would overlap in (Jacksonville is going to get the most attention out of the markets the two companies would overlap in). There's also another factor to it, the ownership structure (percentagewise) we don't even know how much Standard is going to own the combined company and how much Apollo would own in it as well. Still plenty of questions that with due time, will get answered.
  25. My guess it's probably ABC but I'm not 100% sure who filed the strikes against him
