Here’s a promo that confirms the “KCAL News” brand will also be on KCBS.

Noticed this URL during the 11am today.

This is a brilliant set. I can see the cues taken from the CBS Times Square set and Studio 57 in NY. 

I wonder if the CBS Evening News/Weekend News will use this on days when they broadcast from LA.

I wonder who's gonna fill in for Jamie Yuccas on days she has to fly cross-country to NY to fill in on CBS Mornings.

Bills-Bengals won't be picked back up this week, but no changes to Week 18.

The ticker and bug is the same on TV and streaming.

From what we’ve seen, a couple of non-Group W stations like KCAL/KCBS and WBBM might be doing the call letter box as well. It’s kinda warranted for the former since KCBS newscasts will go by “KCAL News” going forward.

Didn't think they could do worse than the outgoing O&O package but this feels lifeless to me.

 

I expect a return to numbers within two years.

Most of the O&Os were struggling, even with the channel numbers. What do they have to lose with this?

Assume the rest will wait for the new year.

KPIX ended up being first out the gate.

It finally happened.

Investigative correspondent Drew Griffin has passed away from cancer. He was 60.

Orlando and San Diego also have three hour-long 10pm newscasts. As for the latter, KNSD produced KSWB’s 10pm before the Fox era began.

Just think, in LA, there would be four 10pm newscasts if NBC does indeed go through with this in the future. KTLA, KCAL, KTTV, and KNBC.

CBS News Detroit launches in January with afternoon and late newscasts. Their morning show will launch later in the first half of 2023.

Soccer journalist Grant Wahl has died while covering today’s Argentina-Netherlands quarterfinal match.

With the film and TV industry growing in Atlanta and the state of Georgia overall, I don’t understand why CNN would want to minimize their presence in Atlanta. 

The memo in the FTVLive Deanno story linked here said they’re conducting rehearsals on the new set for “the next several weeks”, so a January (or February) launch is more likely.
