  1. From Argentina: Canal 7's news opener used throughout 2001, featuring Craig Palmer's Heart of a Champion.
  2. ATN7's full 6pm newscast from Wednesday, July 9, 2003, anchored by Ann Sanders.
  3. I've never seen that WOI gold logo before.
  4. Excerpt of Telefe's opener of its revamped 7:00PM newscast from Monday, August 12, 2002. On that day the channel introduced new graphics, new music (one of the most recognizable themes in Argentinian TV) and new main anchors: Rodolfo Barili and Cristina Pérez (they're still anchoring together 15 years later, with great success). They also were one of the youngest teams to ever front a newscast at the age of 29.
  5. Canal 13's morning newscast opener from 2005: Since it began, the program never changed its start time: it still begins at 7am.
  6. It was a great report. It's strange it was shot on film: by 1983 videotape was being used massively by TV stations.
  7. Did that challenge last long?
  8. Three promos from TVW7 in Perth used between 2003 and 2005, featuring the catchy slogan "Nobody knows news like Seven" and a great upbeat theme. Longtime anchors Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr appear briefly at the end of each promo.
  9. Yes, they were the only station allowed to use the network's news graphics and name.
  10. Some HSV7 "dramatic" news promos from 1994, featuring Jennifer Keyte: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JaY84XqUaE
  11. A rarity: Canal 5 Rosario's "magic cube" midday news opener from May 1994. The opener was commisioned by Telefe in Buenos Aires. (Canal 5 was one of Telefe's affiliates and became and O&O station in 2001)
  12. THIS IS YOUR 24 HOUR NEWS SOURCE! In 1994, Canal 13 in Buenos Aires introduced 1-minute hourly news updates during daytime and early evening programming (12pm-8pm) These updates lasted until 1995. Back then, the station didn't broadcast 24 hours a day: it signed on at noon and signed off shortly after midnight.
  13. TCN9's partial newscast from Thursday, May 26, 2005, anchored by Mark Ferguson (now with Seven). Includes a political report by Tim Lester (he's also with Seven now!). It looks that, when Nine's ratings plummeted, many of its newspeople emigrated to Seven.
  14. I liked Al Hinojos' quote at the end "have a nice mañana". I imagine that many Latino people lived in El Paso back then.
  15. From Uruguay: Monte Carlo TV (channel 4 in Montevideo) closing of the midday news + station ID from Monday, July 31, 2000. This station used to finish its newscasts with the openers (something very strange) and a few sponsors. A minor note: some of the scenes seen there look like being shot in both video and film.
  16. From Portugal: RTP1's Sunday evening news opener from August 26, 1990, anchored by Paula Magalhães. That catchy tune starts at 0:26.
  17. The set and the presenting style reminded me of the Nine Network's Sunday program, seen here in 1998:
  18. From Argentina: the last segment of Canal 13's late news from the early hours of Tuesday, April 24, 2001 (includes a 8-second time and temperature check at the beginning), anchored by the recently departed Santo Biasatti.
  19. Yes, she is. She moved to Providence in March of 1989.
  20. I always liked that "disco" version of the Heute Journal theme.
  21. From the same channel, but in 2003, a morning news opener and closing segment with a bit of its theme.
  22. José Rodrigues dos Santos closes RTP1's evening news on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 (Father's Day in Portugal), as we see him from a giant screen installed atop the roof of RTP's old building in Lisbon. It reminded me of NBC Nightly News and Times Square.
  23. From Portugal: TVI's evening news excerpt from September 1996, airing in 16:9 widescreen!
  24. From Argentina: Todo Noticias (TN, a cable news channel) news summary and two IDs from Sunday, January 11, 1998.
  25. From Chile: Canal 13's close of the evening news in 1979 with a cheerful music theme: The theme was based on this image campaign:
