  1. As for the second, it is just the WLWC license. The station has been dark and CW programming moved to a subchannel on Nexstar's WPRI 12 (CBS) and WNAC 64 (Fox).
  2. Considering the late hour after a full length This is Us, it would have been a dumb stunt anyway. Besides, Stefan Holt was in Minneapolis. It would have been impossible for the weekday team to be there. I know personally, I did not last til the news, don't know anyone who did.
  3. Many station groups do this: Sincrap, Nexstar, Tegna (going back at least 39 years through predecessors), etc.
  4. I watched it for 1 minute. It has rodeos. I'm sure it will be one of the most viewed stations on Optimum.
  5. Although not involving a broadcast station, Altice USA (Optimum) in NJ, NYC Outer Boroughs, LI and CT dropped Starz and Starz Encore on Jan. 1. Optimum claims that Starz wanted a significant fee hike while customers can purchase their OTT service directly from Starz for less. Optimum also claims that Starz had low viewership (which based on some of their other stations is hard to believe). Starz claims that Altice has no desire to negotiate in good faith. Altice has added the Cowboy Channel, Hallmark Drama, MGM and Sony as "replacements" which is total crap. Altice does not plan to adjust fees accordingly either claiming Starz was part of your bundle and we have the right to change service anytime. Many subscribers are upset and getting nasty towards Altice, and rightfully so. This is turning nasty and worth watching.
  6. I believe that has been the case in most of her past postions. I was shocked she got the job in Atlanta, considering how terrible she was in St. Louis.
  7. Wow, Fox spares no expense at this station. So dated.
  8. WNBC and WNJU has established a bureau in San Juan to continue stories of the storm ravaged territory and the slow recovery effort. A dedicated bi-lingual reporter has been hired who will report for both stations, and will also provide reports for other NBC/Telemundo O&Os across the country. Per TV NewsCheck. There was a report during the 5 pm hour on WNBC this evening.
  9. I live in NJ. Work in NJ. It is a wasted station and has poor production values. I checked it out and it looked very amateurish during the day.
  10. Charter and Viacom agreed to extend the deadline short term as negotiations are proceeding. Some have made a valid point - most Viacom channels won't be missed if taken off and others have no specific purpose anymore. Viacom has a lot of work to do to make itself relevent again.
  11. If Staten Island is not an Altice (Cablevision/Optimum) territory, there is no News12 Staten Island. The News12 stations were placed where the old Cablevision had their systems: Long Island, a good portion of NJ, Bronx, Rockland/Westchester and Connecticut. Altice has extensive coverage in NJ, and made deals for Comcast areas in Essex and Middlesex County and TimeWarner/Spectrum in eastern Bergen to carry News12NJ. No deals with Verizon or satellite. Optimum only just added NY1 to their lineup in NJ, and it is no where the quality of News12 plus only reports NYC news, which is not as important as having a NJ based broadcast.
  12. Actually, the News 12 networks are hyper local. I can speak only for News 12 New Jersey and most of the news in NJ centric. Very little from LI, Bronx, Rockland/Westchester, or CT. They are regional, but not tri state, hyper regional in reality.
  13. It does not mean they were struggling. Altice's history, like most acquiring companies, is to cut costs. Beef up the bottom line. With their IPO successful, and rumors of their shopping for another big buy (including Charter), I would not say that company is struggling in any shape or form.
  14. It is more like belt tightening by Altice. Remember, they combined all the micro regional operations to the LI or Edison NJ studios.
  15. New12 New Jersey operates statewide, broadcast not just on Optimum, but also is carried by Comcast and the area that is CharterSpectrum. They still operate their own studio and newsroom in Edison.
  16. And NJ but who cares, we have News12NJ. I watched for a few minutes midday today, and sorry folks, it seemed quite amateurish.
  17. Altice (Optimum) and Disney have a tentative deal just before the deadline yesterday. No blackouts for WABC-TV, Disney, ESPNs, Freeform, etc.
  18. Altice USA (formerly Cablevision) may lose WABC and other Disney stations including Disney, Freeform, ESPN etc. on Oct. 1. The Optimum coverage area is most of metro NY (DMA 1) except Manhattan and some areas of NJ.
  19. His start was delayed a week. He was reporting live from Miami for News4NY since he was still there. He did do other reports during the week prior to his anchoring over the weekend..
  20. NBC has been using Dave Price (during the week he was on MSNBC as well, often shuttling between the two studios). MSNBC has had Rafael Miranda. Basically, with the magnitude of this storm, and covering from different parts of Florida and NY, it has been all hands on deck. Remember, at the end of the day, WABC staff are ABC/Disney employees, WNBC are NBC employees etc.
  21. Is this becoming a gossip column?
  22. Despite Fox doing everything it can to kill WWOR and KCOP, they are both VHF long time stations and can't see them caryring the Fox 5 or Fox 11 branding. They may just drop the My part those markets. Fox has already made the decision to no longer broadcast news on WWOR (sorry, Chasing Sh!t doesn't count). So the strategy used elsewhere is already irrelevant.
  23. Yes. It didn't last on all stations though.
  24. I'm concerned that Fox/Fox5 has made WWOR so irrlevent that it may never be able to recover unless it is sold. They have even moved that horrendous Chasing News out of the 10 pm hour and replaced it with some bad game show. Not a good sign. I would even guess that since CBS bought LI"s TV 55, it has more relevancy today than the old channel 9.
  25. It currently airs at 8:30. Basically it is swtiching the 8 am hour with 9 am but reversing the time of LXTV starts.
