  1. WEWS is getting crap for its approach to attempt to interview a rape victim in Newburgh Heights (a suburb in Cleveland, OH). The video on FTVLive shows the police chief approaching the crew, them telling them to leave. The same police department posted it on its Facebook page, but later deleted it, through angry residents slamming WEWS in reviews remain on the page. This comes as the city is suing the station over its investigation regarding the police and traffic tickets.
  2. WEWS Cleveland news director Jeff Harris is leaving to become the ND at WBBM in Chicago. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/6/25/new-nd-in-windy-city
  3. Does anyone know whether or not Corrina Pysa is still at WEWS? I have not seen her on the station since The Now went into a more national-oriented format, and she has simply disappeared.
  4. WEWS has hired two new sports anchors to fill some holes in the department - Derek Forrest and Jon Doss. Both have already started on air.
  5. WKYC is looking for a new news director. Their current one leaving after May sweeps to produce documentaries according to FTVLive.
  6. WEWS is now down to just one person in the sports department as Marisa Silvas announced on her Twitter she was leaving the station for a new opportunity yet to be announced. Lauren Brill is the only person at the station still on sports.
  7. "Steve" on WEWS is now going up against "Family Feud" - hosted by Steve Harvey - on WOIO. So it's Steve vs. Steve in Cleveland!! Weren't both shows not supposed to air opposite each other?
  8. If The Now continues to sink in Cleveland, would WOIO start beating out WEWS in the late afternoon and early evening slots, plus 11pm?
  9. Could Scripps stations eventually scale The Now to a half-hour if they want to? I do miss the local version on WEWS. (I think this could hurt them more than help them) That being said, The List, The Now, and Picker and Ben I feel have dragged down Scripps stations. They should not have been forced to take in programming that are ultimately not ratings-winners in the long run.
  10. Looks like WOIO is cutting back on one of its leading reporters. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/3/5/cutting-back-monday-in-cleveland
  11. I saw a promo on WEWS in Cleveland saying that "Pickler and Ben" moving to 10am starting on Monday, March 5th. "Steve" (Steve Harvey's latest talk show) is moving to the 3pm slot that "Pickler" had been occupying since September of last year.
  12. WOIO Cleveland 19 and WUAB CLE 43 has hired Ian Rubin as its new news director. He comes from WNEM-TV in Flint, Michigan. http://www.cleveland.com/tv-blog/index.ssf/2018/02/ian_rubin_named_news_director_at_woio_channel_19_and_wuab_channel_43.html#incart_river_index
  13. Bill Martin is scaling back his duties on WJW Fox 8 News. He's going to co-anchor the 5pm newscast only starting March 1st. Lou Maglio is replacing Martin at 10pm. http://fox8.com/2018/02/28/fox-8-and-bill-martin-announce-new-role-for-the-popular-news-anchor/

  18. Dani Carlson, investigative reporter at WOIO, is taking a job in Cleveland outside of local news at Community Solutions as the director of communications and digital strategy.
  19. I should have clarifyed that when I wrote Action News, I should have asked if WGCL's news would become similar to WOIO when Doerr was running its news department.
  20. Speaking of Doerr, could CBS46 become 46 Action News?
  21. Andy Alford served four years at WGCL as GM. There could be a longer-served GM before him.

  24.
