WKYC had Duji from the "Rover's Morning Glory" morning show on WMMS-FM fill-in at the anchor desk this morning, and she even gave a weather report as well.
Tomorrow is going to be Robin Swoboda filling in again.

The WLWT weeknight anchors are now engaged to each other. They have been dating for a while. Congratulations to them.

Interesting they point out antenna and other options are available. Something that may shooting themselves in the foot.
A lot of people in Cleveland are upset about WJW not being on Spectrum. A bowling alley on the east side has resorted to putting Spectrum News 1 Ohio on one of the big screens. Of the preferred local alternatives, many viewers seem to trust WEWS the most. Anyway, WJW is still off even though it's now Saturday, and sports programming is on Fox now. Some believe that it will all be resolved in two weeks. Still, it's bad for Spectrum. That's going to cause more people to leave cable for alternatives (streaming, over-the-air).

All of the Tribune stations are off Spectrum systems in 24 markets.

Mark Nolan just tweeted that tonight's 6pm newscast will be his last on WOIO. I believe his co-anchor Romona Robinson has already left the station.
Carl Monday has also posted a farewell video on social media as well. He was at Cleveland 19 since 2007.

WJW has posted a site for viewers who have Spectrum cable that they might lose the station on New Year's Day.

- Tara Molina has announced she's leaving WEWS for a station in Chicago.

Very sad news indeed. Next to Dick Goddard, Don Webster was a fixture of WEWS, from hosting Upbeat, and even serving as the stations' general manager in the 1980s (when he ceded weather duties to Tom Tasslemyer). He returned to weather in 1989 and was the chief meteorologist for the next decade until his retirement.
It's good to hear that Mark didn't disappear either...could he be going back to mornings?
Trent is going to be on mornings. Mark is likely staying put on evenings.
Very sad to read about Don Webster. He is one of the legends in Cleveland television.

Trent Magill is leaving WATE in Knoxville and returning to WEWS in Cleveland.

He's rumored to be replacing Mark Johnson..any idea what happened to him?
It seemed that Mark moved up to the spot after his predecessor Brad Sussman disappeared in the 2000s....only a few years after replacing longtime chief Don Webster.
Mark has since taken to social media to welcome back Trent, and added that they will both be part of the weather team at WEWS starting in January. Apparently, FTVLIVE got it wrong about Mark leaving.
If Mark had left, wouldn't a stronger meteorologist come in to replace him?
-
UPDATE: Mark Johnson took to social media of Trent Magill coming back to WEWS to be part of a weather team including him starting in January. People though still think online Mark's leaving. This is like a repeat of Jeff Tanchak situation at WOIO and Raycom back in 2015.

Mark Johnson is rumored to be out at WEWS. Meanwhile, former meteorologist Trent Magill is returning to the station.

Can you guys picture Tegna and Tribune together? Here's what I saw from Variety:
QuoteMeanwhile, Tribune Media’s second try at an auction of its 42 TV stations and WGN America — following the implosion earlier this year of its $3.9 billion merger with Sinclair — has so far attracted the eye of private equity players, including Apollo and others in the Fox RSN race, as well as broadcasters such as Texas-based Nexstar Media and Tegna (formerly Gannett Broadcasting). Tribune is not the only station group on the block — Atlanta-based Cox Media Group is also said to be shopping its 14 stations — but it is the biggest prize up for grabs.

Okay, so is it a fixed host schedule for each feed? How do they get singers, actors, reality hosts, and comedians to come on their show unless it’s a link to Denver. I don’t see TEGNA paying the cost of flying someone in for an interview. However I could see comedians and maybe some lesser known bands coming in when they’re in town looking for exposure.
Those actually are the hosts. The types I've mentioned.

Out of curiosity is DBL a show where the panelists are there for every feed or are they alternated? And are the same topics discussed/covered in each feed or is it unique.
They alternate with each hour. That's why there's eight hosts for the show. The same main topics are covered, though some change in each feed, and they do cover breaking news, though it's hard to have singers, actors, reality hosts, and comedians cover harder topics, then give opinions.
WFAA is struggling badly in the ratings according to Uncle Barky.

Here's hoping WKYC's morning news, or even any of TEGNA's morning newscasts, doesn't turn into this! (That debate on TEGNA's show is a big reason I no longer tune in)

The latest in what's been happening to the morning show on WKYC. Less news, more features.

Here's what FTVLive thinks of WEWS not covering the breaking news story this week:

Carl Monday announced on his Facebook page he's leaving WOIO/WUAB after almost 12 years.

Yes, it does. Especially in the case of an active shooter, it's better to be right rather than first.
Well, let's agree to disagree.

First, KJRH and now WEWS. I really hope Scripps can realize that this isn't the way to do things. Otherwise, I feel sorry for Cordillera, KXXV, WTXL and potentially Tribune or Cox as well.
WEWS mentioned during The Now Cleveland that they were going to stream a press conference for the arrests related to a different crime on its app instead of airing it on its newscast.
-
Doesn't matter. WEWS still should have broken into coverage when the initial reports first came on.

There has been an active shooter at a hospital in Medina, Ohio, and this is what was going on the four news stations in Cleveland around 2:30pm and 3pm.
WKYC - local news coverage
WJW - local news coverage
WOIO - local news coverage
WEWS - General Hospital and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire!!!!!
News 5 didn't bother to go into breaking news coverage, except for a ticker at the bottom on-air, and of course its website and social media. To me, that's like saying not to bother watching the station anymore. That is a prime example of dropping the ball big time.

They were very careful never to say that Brad Johansen would directly replace Crabtree. He was obviously hired to fill a vacancy that would be left by Crabtree leaving, but I was under the impression that Gerald Owens might move up to 6p and Johansen would be the 4p/5:30p/late night anchor. When Jeff Hogan was hired it was said from the start that he would replace Bill Leslie, but the same has not been said of Brad that I recall.
Don't forget that Jeff Hogan left WBNS in Columbus for WRAL after he got tired of waiting for Jerry Ravish to retire.
