  1. There has been an active shooter at a hospital in Medina, Ohio, and this is what was going on the four news stations in Cleveland around 2:30pm and 3pm.

    WKYC - local news coverage

    WJW - local news coverage

    WOIO - local news coverage

WEWS - General Hospital and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire!!!!!

News 5 didn't bother to go into breaking news coverage, except for a ticker at the bottom on-air, and of course its website and social media. To me, that's like saying not to bother watching the station anymore. That is a prime example of dropping the ball big time.

  2. I don't think that's what he means. I think he means that he wants to turn WKYC into a mini-NBC. Meaning good journalism, good production, and good shows.

Right now, the only thing NBC has of those three is good production. The fluff and gimmicks, especially in the AM, are getting out of hand, and Super Dave is Super Bland in the new role.

  3. Jessica Kartalija is moving to KYW 3 from WJZ to become the evening anchor in Philly.

Dave Chudowsky is now morning anchor at WKYC he comes from sports department.

In Las Vegas Bryan Scofield is gone from the station. Scripps making cuts apparently.

Al Pawlowski is replacing Dave Chudowsky as weekend evening sports anchor now that Dave on weekday mornings.

  4. WKYC is =68.ARBetJkemUGcg3uyEr_DFBgYdqyYSriE9JSbmU-VKv7-dos6c90FLx0qPoHV5B3E7t6rHij4O_yJT-pUMq91_lFcPk4Mb94VGpgJ1lKSuEyc2kGHALYHUyNSfeOMMfVDVNltS9VO7w2zJPSI7ItWLK1A395HwnCKRA6OtQYxIb7wjMX52C_z7MtpnwuHvF3keVszapCD&__tn__=-R']teasing on its Facebook page a "familiar face" coming to its morning newscast on Monday. It's likely in-house, and many are speculating in the comments it could be weekend sports anchor Dave Chudowsky.

  5. Agreed. That’s when they decided to go for the Ohio City/hipster/club crowd with promos like this:

And going way back...I still think they made a HUGE mistake ditching Kimberly Gill. Cleveland (and Pittsburgh’s) loss is definitely Detroit’s gain. WEWS should’ve sent to Danita back to mornings in 2009 and put Kimberly in the main slot.

I saw on another forum back in '09 that there were rumors that WEWS was thinking of pairing Kimberly Gill with Duane Pohlman for evenings. How would that have worked for a team, and wasn't he up for Ted Henry's spot after his retirement?

  6. John Anderson appears to have left WKYC according to his post in his Facebook page following its format change in its morning newscast. This will be the second time he has left the station.

  7. Will WEWS ever learn?! They should’ve never ditched Tera Blake for the short-lived duo of Somara Theodore (pre-ticket-scandal) and Jason Nicholas (pre-WOIO). But I guess things worked out for Tera Blake since she’s now at a dominant WKRC instead of a weak WEWS...

And WEWS should have never ditched Macie Jepson for Jackie Fernandez (pre-ticket scandal).

  8. WEWS now has TWO openings in the weather department - one part-time and temporary, the other for "Good Morning Cleveland." (Yup, another one from that show is gone!) JD Rudd appears to be gone from the station as his bio is no longer on the station's website.

  9. Given how much WUAB has been treated as a doormat under Raycom, this is a very pleasant surprise. I didn't expect any acknowledgement of their 50th anniversary.

Of course Ramona Robinson returned to 19/43 in 2012, Jack Marshall retired not long ago after a stint at WEWS, Sally Bernier does holiday relief duties at WJW alongside her husband Andre, Jeff Phelps is at WKRK 92.3 The Fan and Fox Sports Ohio, Ron Jantz left the business to work and teach at Lorain County Community College, Dan Deely is at WNWV The Wave, and RIP Gib Shanley.

Here's a promo for tonight's 50th anniversary celebration for WUAB:

  10. Tegna's syndicated Daily Blast Live is off to a bit of a rough start. Two of the show's host got into a disagreement that went viral for the wrong reasons. So much so that producers have been trying to stop footage from going viral. Too late.
