They sure did... and so did their sister station in Syracuse, WSTM: Both were owned by Federal Broadcasting at the time - Federal later divested WCFT when ABC/Allbritton came to set up the ABC 33/40 tri-mul-cast.

Local TV show greenevariety conducted an interview with WTEN chief meteorologist Steve Caporizzo back in the 2000’s (it can’t be later than 2006 cause Terry McSweeney appears briefly here.) Their set may have looked fine, but man, I totally forgot how hideous WTEN’s weather studio looked. I’m guessing Young had a few bucks to be saved for the KRON acquisition when they built WTEN’s set in late 2000. Also... hello Central Florida!

A WALA news report from early 1985 - by this point they already are using “Count On 9”.

That KARK Open was copied from former sister station WXIA in Atlanta. What’s odd is that they snagged that open right after Gannett sold them (I believe; a 1983 blooper reel shows the news set in this video being built). And I’m assuming ‘JCL didn’t air 11pm news at the time cause they were being beaten in the ratings by “THE News” at WTOC...

A KTVX report from around fall 1991 - I estimated it to be the fall due to the logo on the L3’s (which, at the earliest, was being used in August) and the presence of Phil Riesen (who left the station in October).

At 2:16:16 in the OJ montage is a noon open - with that different VO guy KSAZ had at the time. I thought it was worth a repost: The opens now have “Spirit of Arizona” replaced with “Coverage You Can Count On.” And wow, Chicago weatherman Steve Deshler worked at KSAZ?

They were still using “Catch 5” by February 1987. Its been believed (speaking of them) that WAGA had been the commissioner of Good News, and not WPLG, as it didn’t have it either by 1987 as well.

News San Diego Weekend Edition!!!!

Was Hull the guy who replaced Bob Hower?? I know Steve Knight didn’t come in till ‘88, and Hower retired two years prior.

And I’ve stayed true to my word.

KTVI. Between the time you uploaded the KTVI compilation in October 2014 to now, plenty of footage from that station has been uncovered. Also I am planning on updating some of my own compilations too - I really don’t like my KPHO compilation as I missed a ton of stuff from 2014 onward. Also dma37dude has been kind enough to share some footage off of his hard drive with me, which includes more WXXA during the “News Matrix” era and plenty of WIVB.

WPHL has gone KCPQ. And like the latter, the graphics are brilliantly done. Hey Tribune, even though you’re on your last legs, you should consider hoisting these graphics onto certain stations in Milwaukee and Greensboro, you know?
