  1. Where The News Opens Comes First... is back!
  2. Yes actually. Sticking to WRGB, this 1997 clip features a tease during their last image using “Making A Difference”. All I can say is, their 1998 graphics were DEFINITELY a huge leap in quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNyLUKwZN_0 I can also say the same for WPDE after it got acquired by Diversified Communications in 1985.
  3. From the same channel that brought you the rare 1991 WNYT clip on St. Patrick’s Day comes a “NewsCenter 6:30” segment from that same day two years later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrRJwJHqjeo Btw how long was Marty Aarons at WRGB? A Reddit post made a joke about how he “didn’t even last 42 weeks replacing a guy that lasted 42 years (Ernie Tetrault),” meaning he wasn’t there long. Also, a newspaper article @scrabbleship shared with me on this thread a few months ago said Ernie retired on May 27, so possibly Marty was brought in to replace him. Anyways, thanks to YouTube channel wpdehistory, I was able to make this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sT45XDVneQ
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oY6yHk42wN8 A WTEN report on the band C. Jane Run from around their first stint using Primetime News (this is definitely NOT 2001.) Also at this point I won’t be taking requests anymore - not that I did anyway. No offense but I find it to be too stressful and i already have a list of areas going anyways. @T.L. Hughes I’m sure they did that on your videos too when you were doing compilations... I am also actually at the very bottom of my current list already, so after finishing up Shreveport (yes I’m going there) and a few others, I’ll be back to rummaging through NewsActive3’s mounds of compilations.
  5. The Raleigh playlist continues... Is it just me or does Bill Leslie look A LOT like Austin anchor Ron Oliviera?
  6. Is he actually doing the other three stations? Because I was planning on doing San Antonio for my second go-round after I dig through NewsActive3’s channel. Were those opens the same as this but without Cool Hand Luke?
  7. Ken Owen is possibly one of my most favorite news anchors ever. That’s a good find right there. To North Carolina we go - the heart of it, actually.
  8. Posting this in as I believe the graphics KHBS/KHOG used in 1994 were similar to the ones WNYT’s 1988-1991 “News 13” Package was (I’ve seen pics online of their GFX and they looked similar).
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7SjpXcfLug Speaking of San Diego & Raleigh, I totally forgot KUSI in my San Diego playlist! Also I’ll be doing Raleigh next for news opens. It was a fine line between that and Charlotte but Raleigh won overall.
  10. JUST as I uploaded a WTMJ open compilation... this gets uploaded.
  11. A full hour and 40 minutes of KWQC and NBC News from 1993
  12. Here’s a real treat... What gets me is that there are TONS of WNYT opens from 2018 after the set change yet their 1990s stuff is so limited.
  13. Yes, thank you. In fact, cause she appears at 4:11, I’ll mention that Sue Nigra is currently working at a program in Johnstown, NY called Transitions, which is a “college experience” program for people with disabilities. I’ll be visiting that program this coming weekend for a possible opportunity after I graduate high school. And I’ve also gotten a playlist started in Milwaukee, too: Did the 1985 open that features John McCullough accidentally saying “Good night” get taken down? Shame if it did.
  14. Speaking of KSTP, I don’t know if anyone posted this, but former WTEN meteorologist Greg Pollak recently joined KSTP’s sister station WNYT. Guessing Craig Flint didn’t like Albany... Also WNYT has updated their first warning weather app to feature the new logo, and the very stiff portrait shots they took for the talent bumps have been added as well...
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu21Fjvoeng The latest haul from the Capital Region. Also that WREG clip may have been later than ‘85, but idk. Definitely earliest use of their Tvbd graphics.
  16. Some KOCO promos from a recently uploaded commercial break from 1993 - an insight into the first logo under the “5 News” brand.
  17. Listen, guys, I’m not gonna do every area. I have a list of areas already written down that I am doing, so please be patient. Also, I’ve posted it before, but it also takes weeks before I produce compilations, as I have to rummage through NewsActive3’s channel to find footage (as there are A LOT of his Various Newscast Opens compilations). It takes, possibly, up to 5 or 6 weeks. Also was Anchor Media a new company the Gulf Broadcasting guys formed when Taft bought them? My theory is they used WSYX as the nuclei for that company when Taft sold it off in 1987.
  18. My latest compilation from everyone’s favorite Oklahoma station.
  19. Sticking to OKC, this KOCO vid I found on Facebook has a test pattern at the beginning with what possibly was their first “5 Alive” logo under Gannett ownership: What I find strange is that Gannett kept the same font as the former Combined stations for KOCO while WXIA and WLKY dropped the fonts after the ownership change.
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZOa0FeP41U My next news open compilations are from Oklahoma City - sorry @T.L. Hughes beat you to it!
