  1. At long last the KOIN Prime News open is shown on YouTube again!
  2. Hmmm... once again another thing we gotta add to the NMSA....
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWqrEE7GOK0 KOTA’s news theme pre-TVbD is a pretty questionable. @Ramona thinks this is a KPM one.
  4. Might’ve been possible. This was released around the same time as KCNC’s call letter change (which stands for Colorado’s News Channel) and WSB commissioned the Gari package itself in ‘83...
  5. That “13” really creeps me out. The same channel has a WREG commercial break from 1985 with a groovy-looking “NEWS 3” bumper at 13:28.
  6. Ahhhhh... Classic WSVN prior to its dramatic change later in ‘88 to tabloid news (and giving Scott Chapin his big break as the voice of tabloid TV). I bet the change was to hype up the switch to Fox. Whatever it was, it worked because ‘SVN not only climbed to the top in ratings but it also paved the way for what newscasts would look like for a Fox station for years to come.
  7. Yep. If anyone hasn’t caught it yet, former WTEN weatherman Nick Johnston has taken a job at WGY as a news anchor. Thankfully he’s sticking to the Capital Region.
  8. Also John Bachman, former KGAN/KARE/WHO anchor, and his son who works at WSB-TV.
  9. Ahhh... Marv Albert before his infamous trial 20 years later.
  10. You thought that WNYT clip on the River Rats was nostalgic? This clip from 20 years ago is beyond amazing (plus a young Rodger Wyland!!!!)
  11. Hey wanna see a worse version of that WDEF open I posted?
  12. If you live in Washington D.C. you’ll immediately recognize him. He did weather at WUSA back in the 80s as well as being the main spokesperson and host for WETA programs. Here’s a WNYT report on the “Albany River Rats” in 2007. Fun fact: I visited one of their games in 2009, a year before the team left Albany.
  13. Hmmm... Paul Anthony, very odd and stock-looking graphics and cheap electronic-y music? Riveting.
  14. I’m guessing WBOC used the KMTV/KRIS Giant Octopus package and later kept butchering it...
  15. This might’ve been brought up before, but does anyone know what WNEM’s 1986 theme is?
  16. Adding this to the thread - why do they use curtains?!!?
  17. Go to 3:06 for a news promo with a similar package being used.
  18. I think the KSL ‘88/‘89 theme debuted actually at WAFF in 1987, as this 1987 promo shows the graphics that were used with said theme: Also I’m starting to think that people are deliberately trimming out KUTV’s news opens, but I know that’s not true. And I had no idea that Keith Radford worked in Utah!
  19. NEVER knock off Linear Drift. NEEEEEVER.
  20. I personally thought WNEM would use KOAA-TV’s Scripps knockoff since the former knocked off Scripps itself.
  21. KMGH has had tons of missing eras for years, I’m glad they’ve (mostly) turned up. I believe that Newsmat set debuted alongside Bertha Lynn joining Jim Redmond at the anchor desk, as according to ads in 1984 the former was still anchoring with Ann Wade. Now let’s see the WHBF open that was once only heard on the NMSA: That camera zoom on the anchor is pretty jarring...
