KGUN’s WNDU 1986 open in full
-
Is that Charlie Van Dyke? Sounds like him. And you won’t BELIEVE what KTVX was using in the late 1970s-early 1980s (you can see it at 4:01 in the video on this link): http://www.good4utah.com/news/local-news/how-news-graphics-have-changed-over-70-years/732000007 This’ll stump Raymie that’s for sure.

Here’s a 2001 WBAY news report, posting this as it’s strange how rare anything this station has between 1995 to 2007. Judging by the L3’s, they must’ve been using the KMGH Giant Octopus package earlier than we thought.

Speaking of Atlanta, here’s some 11 Alive promos voiced by a very “Young” John Young. (Heh heh...)

Nice to see that WJW 1992-94 Open in clear quality. Also I wonder if they have anything from Toledo, specifically WTVG?

Has this WITI news snippet from 1979 ever seen this blog? The end graphic matches a WITI open shown here (at 5:02) in a Dolphin Productions demo:

‘GNX and WBNS were two of Eric Gordon’s first clients for doing the voiceover, back when he wasn’t overused as he is now. Never got why Doug wasn’t used for news/promos - or was he? Here’s WAGA talking about said affiliation shuffle:

Ok... first of all WDHN’s open is completely bland and low budget compared to what Morris Multimedia’s other news-producing sister station KARK in Little Rock was using (“Signature” with flashy graphic), and that WJHG open has taken lots of cues from WMAR’s before they switched to ABC. Also WSFA’s open has taken cues from their sister station in Columbia, SC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj3RTgg_T_s I believe that voiceover is Keri Tombazian, as WSFA’s NMSA page credits her as unidentified.

Here’s a KSNW news segment with a logo I haven’t seen before...

That WHBQ open I’ve never seen before. I wonder if that is a new news theme they’re using or if it’s production music? Also, I’d like to know if you have any Omaha or Salt Lake City anywhere. That would be cool if you do (especially KTVX).

The NMSA has this wrong - the WJET 1986 theme is actually the WNAC 1980 theme (the tail of the intro is only shown here though - go to the NMSA to hear it in full)

Is there a missing KIRO era lurking around? I ask because some totally different L3’s appear towards the end. Must’ve been temporarily made when Cox took over, as by 1998 they debuted the E.Q. Vance graphics.

This is amazing!!!! I’ve never seen that WNYT Open in full before... Plus it’s worth noting that this was the first open using their current logo — graphics are very resembling to that of sister station KMOV. Anyway WJAR used the WTVX 1983 theme earlier than we thought:

John Christopher Burns at his finest. I hope the open using “Primetime News” can be found at some point... I assume he might have it somewhere on his tapes... Here are some more WESH snippets from 1980:

Discovered composers & publishers of music themes
Info Junkie replied to promoguy98's topic in News Music & Voiceovers
Anyone willing to guess what WITI’s 1984 theme music is? I’m guessing Terry Sweet, since he did have plenty of image campaigns from that station. -
That open resembles WNEM’s from the time. I wonder if WNEM’s open looked exactly like that only blue colored, and with “Allegro” and Paul Turner.

Looks like Pannoni beat ewjxn to uploading KTSM’s newscast:

I showed that commercial to my mom and she says she recognizes that male voiceover. I wonder... I doubt it, but maybe one of the Albany stations used him? I know WRGB had Charlie Van Dyke, WNYT always used Ed Hopkins, and WTEN had Dude Walker, and then that other unidentified WTVO voiceover guy... I wonder how you can identify voiceovers... Anyway I know I posted this before, but has anyone found out that WTVC used “Tuesday3”?
-
It’s possible that maybe KVUE commissioned this theme and not WNDU or WKRC... just a thought. Here’s an open from four years prior... pretty bland and basic.

It’s Production Music: Action News by FirstCom. It was also heard on WNWO after the switch to NBC in 1995 as well as WOI in Des Moines. As for that “Sundown” clip, Gary Essex must’ve jumped to KUSA (then KBTV) very quickly, as two months earlier he was working at KTVY:
