Discovered composers & publishers of music themes
Info Junkie replied to promoguy98's topic in News Music & Voiceovers
So recently we found KPNX's 1992-93 "Your choice for Real Life, Real News in the 90s" open, which resembled that of WCCO's open from that same time frame in some ways. I wonder if Wow & Flutter were also the composers of KPNX's 1992 theme besides their Everyday Music Package? -
Never thought that KPNX Open resembled WCCO's... I even wonder if Wow & Flutter were the composers for that 1992 Theme... Now I just want to see an open from their "Real News" era (1989-90). From what I've seen, I think it would look VERY similar to what sister station WXIA's open looked like (which actually debuted in 1986).

I just commented on one of ewjxn's KPNX 1992 videos and he says he's working on a June 1991 newscast to be uploaded.

KTVI weekend in 1980 using On Top Of It All-- and a young Bryan Busby doing the weather.

Even though ewjxn has been uploading mostly late '80s-early '90s Phoenix material, the next thing I would love to see is some KPNX news from 1979 when they changed their call letters. I've always had this theory that the Gannett "Death Star" ID started earlier than 1981: According to the top story, this aired on January 20, 1981, leading me to believe the Gannett station IDs started way earlier. I'd also like to see some KTVK from their "Count On Us" era (1978-1980).

WAVE 3 in 1989 -- a tail end of their first Tvbd set of opens appears at 5:57. I wonder if the full open can be found anywhere. (However it would probably resemble the same kind of opens that were used by WFTV, WTHR, WFSB, etc.)

The Phoenix stuff keeps on coming!
-
Some KPNX from 1992/93 -- sadly no open, but it's a treat worth looking at. Also KARK using News 88
-
Never seen this WOOD-TV open before...
-
For some reason there was a vintage KPHO open from early 1986 that got posted by the same user, but it got taken down. Also I hope that channel uploads some KPNX from 1992-93, that's another Phoenix rarity right there.

Is that the WMGM News Package by Gari Media Group? It sounds very much like "The One For All" but with that classic Gari-esque early '90s synthesizer.
-
A WHO-TV promo from 1985. I wonder where you can find the open on the NMSA where they're using the KSL 1981 Theme?

Wendall Anschutz's Final newscast

This channel has posted some Tulsa news footage, some of which are extremely rare. This video reveals more of KJRH's Scripps-mandated set. This one has a KTUL newscast with Judd Hambrick (!!) And this reveals KJRH's open using WWL News.
-
And a ++1 for another vintage Albany newscast! Seems like WNYT is the one that doesn't have barely anything from their archive though...
-
WNYT getting ready to launch a 4:00 newscast. It will be anchored by veteran Benita Zahn and Jerry Gretzinger, who used to work at WRGB CBS 6. It will go on the air September 11th.

Some Denver TV news reports on People Express Airlines announcing service to the area.
-
Speaking of that, I'm really shocked that there isn't anything really from the "Take a Look" era of WTSP (1979-83). The only known footage of 10 from that era is this 8-second clip from early 1983 about Jon Crane's arrival: If you listen closely you can hear Take a Look in the background.
-
This does help... in fact, KARK in Little Rock had that same set, albeit having a "4" carved on the main news desk.
-
WXIA News Capsule from April 16, 1987, earliest use of them having "The Great News Package."
-
I'd like to know who designed the Gannett stations' sets, despite adding the "red white and blue" color to them.
-
-
So did WPTV and KJRH. The latter using that set is pretty rare, but there is a 1986 news brief with Beth Rengel where a "blue background" is shown behind her, which is part of that set. I wish we could find more KJRH from that period, but that's just typical Oklahoma television for ya.
