  1. Very interesting— by this time KPNX was phasing out the TVbD graphics for some newer ones, but the old graphics are still used for the L3’s. KPNX for some reason used cold opens for their weekend news, never understood why. This probably must’ve been temporary on purpose, because exactly a year later they debuted “News Station”. I still think Wow & Flutter were responsible for the 1992 theme...
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btWsF1YO2zQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR1poyjFR-s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vc10CCCPIE Some rare WRTV footage from 1981 — using what I believe is one of the unknown themes from their NMSA page.
  3. Wow, KCST must’ve had some trouble trying to figure out what they wanted to do with their newscasts at the time. Of course, this probably led to the change of call letters in 1988, which we don’t really have any footage from...
  4. I also want to see that 12News Sunday newscast you recorded as well... Heres some San Diego news from 1987 — including a KCST open I’ve never seen!
  5. Surprised this possibly didn’t get posted, but here’s a WHIO newscast from early 1990 (open begins 0:07). The WPXI voiceover they used isn’t doing the open (he did a few promos for Newscenter 7 — still trying to find out who he is but I’m sure he was a VO for all the Cox Stations).
  6. Some WBAY from 1995 - surprising that there really isn’t anything from the station from that year until 2007 on YouTube. Is that a young Eric Gordon voicing?!
  7. In honor of Michele Marsh, one of NYC’s greatest broadcast legends.
  8. “Be in the Know With KPHO!”
  9. WEWS could’ve done it too... We just need proof that their TvBD opens debuted in ‘86 (did they?)... WAGA wasn’t using Good News until 1987, though, as they were still using “Tuesday8”:
  10. So “Good News” debuted in early 1987 then? Also Deborah Gianoulis must’ve taken a break from ‘JXT to report for WPTV at the time... She must’ve been a one-year-stint, because she headed back to Channel 4 shortly after.
  11. Then Kane was replaced by Ernie Anastos, in what began his NYC career, and then Bill Beutel joined 11PM in 1989, and then by 1999 he was replaced by Bill Ritter.
  12. Amazing. Who was more badass back then, KNXV or KSAZ with that cool coyote-howling, eagle-screeching, golfball-hitting heck of an open?
  13. A KSBW news promo appears at the very beginning -- according to the description, some parts of this were taken during the 11 PM news, so I'm sure Pannoni will upload that to the channel soon.
  14. Here's a WKBW promo with Paul Turner, around the time Granite was beginning to ruin the station's legacy.
  15. The latest bigO playbax - KMTV from 1981!!
  16. Going back on that WTVH brief, a news open from that period appears in this video here around 0:36.
  17. Here's a 1983 WTVH newsbreak with an unknown theme. Their graphics look like the same ones from the 1970s, hence the old "5" logo (Meredith made the "5"s less round by the early 80s) and what looks like Dolphin Productions graphics.
  18. Next up from bigO playbax- a KETV Newswatch 7 promo (with News People)! Anchors include KTXL's Ted Mullins, WTLV's Marcia Ladendorff, Charlie Martin (Levy) of TWC doing weather, and Boise's Wayne Dzubak on sports.
  19. Yeah, sounds more like a parade march. I do hope that bigO playbax uploads more Omaha stuff, that's one of many markets with such rarities. Anyway here's what they were using at KMTV back in 1982. Gotta love how the news open syncs up with "Production Music: Energy".
  20. Whoa! KMTV used "3 For All"? KCCI news update, this is definitely earlier than 1990.
  21. I just asked ewjxn what KPNX newscasts will be uploaded yet, seeing what he says... Update: He is out of town, but he said he does have about maybe three coming up next week.
  22. I can't tell if there are two voiceovers -- they both sound like Beau Weaver.
  23. Some WFIE promos with News One at the beginning, this was the first generation with said package.
  24. WOW... Never saw that KPHO open before... Another Phoenix newscast open discovered! Now let's see what we're still hunting for: KPNX: - 1979-1980, according to the NMSA they were still using "Classical Gas" but the 1979 documentary uses "It's All Right Here" - 1989-1990, "Real News" and first wave of TvbD era KOOL/KTSP/KSAZ - Early 1980s, after they changed their call letters, known as "TV 10 News" - 1983, when they became "Newscenter 10" - 1995-1996, the transitional "10 News" era before the Fox takeover KTVK - 1978-1980, "Count On Us" and KIII-style logo era - 1982-1984, "The News Image" and current debut of the red circle 3 era - 1984-1986, so far only an election update from their "Turn To" era has been seen KPHO - Late 1970s to early 1980s, using "Part of Your Life" - 1994-1996, "Fresh News" era (including before CBS) KNXV - 1994, when they launched their newscast - 1995-1998, first wave under ABC In total we are currently hunting for 12 more Phoenix newscast gems.
  25. http://www.wnem.com/clip/12321546/dick-fabians-final-tv5-broadcast A WNEM 1997 broadcast of "Take 5" with a farewell to former anchor Dick Fabian.
