1. Don't think this has been posted yet - this is an evening newscast from January 4, 1983 on WFSB and WTNH. A WFSB open appears halfway through, using the pre-1984 Gannett graphics (you know, the red & blue lines crawling across a black screen with random shots around them).
2. My hometown of Albany, New York is like Oklahoma City when it comes to finding old news footage. In other words, there are some clips from TV Stations but very little. Here's what I can't find yet: WNYT: Anything pre-1985 (including their WAST days), 1988-1991 (when they used "We Know What Matters," the NMSA has an audio sample), and 1991-1994 (during the early days of "Newschannel 13"). WTEN: Pre-1984 (when they used "Hello News"), 1986-1988 (during the early days of the "Right at Home" era), and some late 1990s clips are missing (when they began using "Primetime News"). WRGB: Anything before 1981 (when they were an NBC Affiliate), 1989-1993 (the first era of "Making a Difference") and the later days of "NewsCenter 6" (mid 90s-98) WXXA: When they launched their News operation in 1996 to 2000
3. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1095712607177261 A WYFF News 4 update from 1991 with Annette Estes, during their era using "The Great News Package". The graphics used are similar to WCPX in Orlando:
4. KSAT in 1994 -- who in the heck would make a news open this creepy? Apparently whoever was channel 12's general manager at the time.
5. KHOU in 1991, during their first year of the "11 News" branding. RIP Doug Paul.
6. Was KXAS the first station to use those graphics? Or WSOC?
7. A WXIA open from 1983 during the "Hello News" days. Very mind-blowing open that was later copied by former sister station KARK in Little Rock. However, sadly, this open would only last a year before Television by Design came calling.
8. A news open from WBAL during their short-lived era of using "Third Coast". This was taken shortly after the switch to NBC. The news graphics are similar to WUAB and WOIO's from the time. Obviously this would all be gone very soon when Hearst rolled out new mandated graphics.
9. Speaking of that, how about when 10's rival WFLA went tabloid?
10. WYFF from sometime in the 1990s. Pretty cool graphics made by the one & only John Christopher Burns. (The title incorrectly states this is from rival station WSPA)
11. Speaking of Arizona, this is a KPNX tribute to reporter Rick DeBruhl. An ID in the video at 1:45 shows that channel 12 also used the "Alive" branding Combined Communications used back in the '70s. A morning news open from '83 is also shown.
12. Weekend newscast from KCST (now KNSD) in San Diego during the days of "NewsCenter 39". Here we have a young Carlos Amezcua (later of KTLA & KTTV in L.A.) doing the news. There is also a Storer logo bumper at the end with the "39 Alive" logo, which probably hasn't even been seen on YouTube yet!
13. Got some good old footage of WSOC, which goes back even to the early '80s (a rare find for channel 9). This was a report on Bill Walker's co-anchors over the time talking about his retirement (you even see old footage of Doreen Gentzler before her NBC days!) The first clip (around 1978) shows an open similar to that of WAGA and the Outlet stations. Also, "The News Image" is heard during a news tease (possibly 1984?)
14. This is a news report on Jane Jayroe of KOCO-TV from 2014. At 1:00 in the vid you can see a brief part of a news open, with Dave Grusin's "The Electric Horseman" playing.
