Did somebody want All The News... and almost two minutes of it? Aside from an announcer spiel towards the end you gotta love the instrumental:

The 1982 set was NBC trying to copy Gannett... funny because they would buy WKYC 13 years later..

While he still isn't identified on any of his opens on the NMSA (WPXI and WSOC to name a few), TVNT favorite Bob Perry did have a news article written about him in 1981. He voiced several "Movie of the Week" promos for NBC and CBS. This should definitively confirm his identity after he was first identified a couple of years back on this forum.
I think he was a Cox VO client. WSB has him on their 1980 open, WHIO used him for promos back in the 1980s, of course there’s WPXI and WSOC, IDs for KCPQ and KTXL, and he also VO’ed WTOG.

WTVD 11 News Nightwatch late edition, for Wed. May 13, 1992 (has Miriam Thomas and the late Larry Stogner on news, Mike Caplan w/Accu-Weather, and Drew Smith on sports; opening here is something that The ID Junkie could possibly use for a WTVD opens revision)
I updated WTVD back in January.

Is KSNW 1985 (though I think it was earlier cause KETV used it in 1983) also JAM? Has some similar sounds to WRAL.

I didn't know that, were other storer affiliates also involved in this "domino effect"?
No. Just those two. This was also because ABC was going to the ratings top and NBC (then on KGTV) was falling to the bottom.

From 1-21-1983, here is a broadcast of ABC's World News Tonight. At 29:13, you get to see a WNGE ID with a news open featuring the late Ed Hopkins voicing the open.
Possibly the oldest footage of an Ed Hopkins-voiced open yet.

From 12-25-1978, here is an entire broadcast of the CBS Evening News. Be sure you watch at 28:47, because you get to see a WTVF news open using an unknown theme.

No. This isn't a knockoff. It's a standard. This is like saying WNEM's graphics are a CBS O&O knockoff because it's the same package. Fox stations around the county use this logo we call it the 'Fox Box'. If you're going to blame KXPI for using it, then blame the dozens of other Fox affiliates who've used it as well. I will point out that the biggest inconsistency here is '5' font.
WNEM did have a knockoff for a hot moment, lasted about 2 months:

So it appears the WFLA 1981 look lasted one year and four days. Yes I’m sharing this here cause I don’t know who composed the theme.
