    Wow, I wasn’t wrong, lol.

They changed the L3’s shortly after, as late as March 1990:

By May 1990, they ditched everything except Ed Hopkins in favor of “Channel 2 News.”

A rather interesting story from WRGB about a local school’s newscast. Not sure exactly when this aired, probably around late 90s?

I’d say early 1998. JoAnne Purtan left 6 to her current job at WXYZ later that year.

From Phoenix, a Sunday 10 p.m. edition of KPNX's Action News from 1983:

    The newscast itself (incomplete):

By the way, was KPNX the only station to use the Gannett sounder as the sole music in the open? And was this done only on the weekends?

No. They did it on weeknights too, as late as 1986 before the logo change:

That being said, they might’ve been the only Gannett outlet to use the ID as the open. Indeed, by this point (December 1983) many Gannett stations were phasing in the CGI Deathstar IDs (WTCN I believe was the first).

Gee Pannoni, THANK YOU for uploading right after I updated KDBC....

Also good to see some more of that short-lived KOCO era. Never got why they switched so much...
