1. That's a different "56" in the lower thirds of this newscast. I also wish we had an open from WLVI during its first year of "The Ten O'Clock News" and its final year of Gannett ownership (1993).
2. I also found this WPTA 1981 raw video with a "21Alive Newsroom" logo animating at the beginning. Did it animate like this in the actual news open?
3. Some Des Moines TV News from 1995. A WOI open appears in this, and the open is pretty much a typical one from a last-place station.
4. KWGN from 1983, with a very young Beau Weaver doing the announcing.
5. A WAGA "Live On 5" newsbreak from the mid 1980s, using an unknown theme, possibly production music.
6. A KJRH newscast from 1993, rare footage
7. Go to 0:31 in this video and you'll see something interesting about the 1980 Atlanta affiliation switch. Ok, it actually was proposed to be Oct. 13, but the switch happened Sept. 1, of course.
8. Speaking of WJBK, their sister station WITI used some theme back in 1990 before the FAT Package. Anyone willing to guess what it is?
9. This WDVM report from 1984 has a guy named Paul Anthony doing the weather. Is this the same Paul Anthony who did the announcing for stations like KXAS, WLNE and WISH-TV? His voice does sound similar (albeit a bit deeper than the announcing).
10. A KJRH news brief from 1986, using the mandated news sets that E.W. Scripps used for its stations (you can tell because of the blue background during the brief). Wish we had a full newscast of this...
11. A KBCI Morning Open from 1996, using the CBS This Morning graphics.
12. 1990 news on a "highway cruising ban" on Highway 100 in Milwaukee. A WITI open pops up at 1:36 with Doug Paul voicing - what is this news theme??
13. A WTVD 11 Eyewitness News report from March 1979, with the main headline being a fire in their actual news set.
14. Speaking of John Christopher Burns, my favorite work from him was for WTMJ in 1992. Gotta love the color & logo design, nice music from KING-TV, Beau Weaver's voiceover, and much more.
15. Don't think this has been posted yet - this is an evening newscast from January 4, 1983 on WFSB and WTNH. A WFSB open appears halfway through, using the pre-1984 Gannett graphics (you know, the red & blue lines crawling across a black screen with random shots around them).
16. My hometown of Albany, New York is like Oklahoma City when it comes to finding old news footage. In other words, there are some clips from TV Stations but very little. Here's what I can't find yet: WNYT: Anything pre-1985 (including their WAST days), 1988-1991 (when they used "We Know What Matters," the NMSA has an audio sample), and 1991-1994 (during the early days of "Newschannel 13"). WTEN: Pre-1984 (when they used "Hello News"), 1986-1988 (during the early days of the "Right at Home" era), and some late 1990s clips are missing (when they began using "Primetime News"). WRGB: Anything before 1981 (when they were an NBC Affiliate), 1989-1993 (the first era of "Making a Difference") and the later days of "NewsCenter 6" (mid 90s-98) WXXA: When they launched their News operation in 1996 to 2000
17. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1095712607177261 A WYFF News 4 update from 1991 with Annette Estes, during their era using "The Great News Package". The graphics used are similar to WCPX in Orlando:
18. KSAT in 1994 -- who in the heck would make a news open this creepy? Apparently whoever was channel 12's general manager at the time.
19. KHOU in 1991, during their first year of the "11 News" branding. RIP Doug Paul.
20. Was KXAS the first station to use those graphics? Or WSOC?
21. A WXIA open from 1983 during the "Hello News" days. Very mind-blowing open that was later copied by former sister station KARK in Little Rock. However, sadly, this open would only last a year before Television by Design came calling.
22. A news open from WBAL during their short-lived era of using "Third Coast". This was taken shortly after the switch to NBC. The news graphics are similar to WUAB and WOIO's from the time. Obviously this would all be gone very soon when Hearst rolled out new mandated graphics.
23. Speaking of that, how about when 10's rival WFLA went tabloid?
24. WYFF from sometime in the 1990s. Pretty cool graphics made by the one & only John Christopher Burns. (The title incorrectly states this is from rival station WSPA)
