  1. KJCT in 1983
  2. Wow lots of Texas TV legends here. Ron Oliveira, Gloria Campos, Jeff Eliasoph.... Also how is that the WAVY News Theme? It sounds Tuesday but I don’t think I’ve heard that cut before.
  3. Speaking of STL:
  4. WTTG news with... Paul Udell?!!
  5. !!! Some WTVK from its TVBD era!!!
  6. Looks like WDAF found my compilation!
  7. Getting some Vance-y vibes from KJRH’s late 90s graphics:
  8. WLS recounts its improvements to bring them to #1 in 1984.
  9. Feel like I’ve heard this theme before:
  10. It’s raining Tulsa: KTUL still using John B. Wells by 1989 KJRH kept using the same theme even during the morning hours (Russell Kinsaul worked there?!) One of the earliest “6 in the Mornings” on YT And Doc Morgan is a BIT TOO cheerful here.
  11. A rare look at WYOU in 2003 (no open):
  12. Ed Hopkins sounds completely off on these KJRH talent bumps (Beth Wringle?!)
  13. Wow, I wasn’t wrong, lol. They changed the L3’s shortly after, as late as March 1990: By May 1990, they ditched everything except Ed Hopkins in favor of “Channel 2 News.”
  14. I’d say early 1998. JoAnne Purtan left 6 to her current job at WXYZ later that year.
  15. Can you believe KTLA debuted these same graphics 10 years ago today:
  16. How about liking WBRE instead of KGAN? Seriously, this is once again — my longest video ever made, and also the longest update I’ve done to a news open video.
  17. If there’s anything FOX19 should ditch it is the VO. I HATE how he says “Always Local.”
  18. You like KGAN?
  19. A rare look at WMTW in 1998:
  20. No. They did it on weeknights too, as late as 1986 before the logo change: That being said, they might’ve been the only Gannett outlet to use the ID as the open. Indeed, by this point (December 1983) many Gannett stations were phasing in the CGI Deathstar IDs (WTCN I believe was the first).
  21. A WTEN news report from 1986 on Albany’s Tri-Centennial, complete with a music number:
  22. You can also see a tail end of the open in my compilation, voiced by Charlie Van Dyke (who’s still there in his second tenure):
  23. A WVUE news tease being drowned out by the ABC movie theme:
  24. 21 years ago today, KOCO had by that point switched to the Hearst package:
  25. Gee Pannoni, THANK YOU for uploading right after I updated KDBC.... Also good to see some more of that short-lived KOCO era. Never got why they switched so much...
