  1. KFOR has Kevin and Kent, KOCO has Abigail, KWTV has Katelyn and Kelly, KOKH has nobody.

    I wonder how long Kevin & Kent last at KFOR after Sinclair takes over.

  2. Doesn't quite roll off the tongue like "Bob Moore Chopper 4"

    The question should be whether Air Comfort Solutions Chopper 4 survives the station's ownership change whether it be Sinclair or someone else.

  3. Bastardized is the tip of the iceberg.

    Still in the hole, but I've heard that they're catching up to 4/14 in the 5p hour.

    I would believe that the order in El Paso would be KVIA (NPG) followed by everyone else, Sinclair and Nexstar.

  4. So DMA rank determines whether anything is happening? One could argue that smaller markets with less revenue are more unstable... there is far more happening than you think. Don’t place much stock in DMA ranks... it’s not ranked by anything but population...

    At least we forget the short lived career of KVIA Meteorologist, now gay gogo dancer, Stephen "Gay Gringo" Decatur.

  5. BaltoMedia.net reports that for the first time in decades, the Orioles will not be aired on OTA TV, leaving all games exclusive to MASN (excluding those picked up by ESPN, MLB Network, and FOX. The Nats are also out of an OTA home.

    So for cord-cutters in Charm City and the DMV, unless WTTG and/or WBFF pick up some games, you're out of luck, and MASN has no option for in market streaming.

    As I said in the MLB Thread, the National need to somehow find a way to get off of MASN and onto NBC Sports Washington, where they would have a chance to get games OTA via WRC and in market streaming. The Nationals have been treated badly by the Orioles since they moved from Montreal in 2005. As for MASN, is it me, or are they the Nexstar of RSNs?

  6. Meredith is apparently selling Time, Fortune, SI, and laying off 1,200 employees in the process. I am posting this as they've been rumored to be in the running to purchase station in the Sinclair-Tribune divestiture, should the transaction obtain final approval from Washington.
  7. New M&A.

    Ion is buying Ironwood's WPME in Maine for $900K.

    As per Our Maine, the current WPME intellectual unit, except Ion, will move to WPXT's spectrum on March 22. As per RabbitEars, the lineup will look like this:

    51.1 WPXT CW

    51.2 Me TV

    51.3 WPME - from 35.1

  8. It appears that Jackson, WY, which is in Idaho Falls-Poctallo DMA, is taking action against Charter Spectrum regarding their prolonged dispute with Northwest Broadcasting, who owns their NBC station KPVI. This dispute cost many in Jackson to miss the Super Bowl and Olympics.

    Similar action is being taken in Yuma, AZ regarding Charter Spectrum's blackout of KYMA & KSWT there.

  9. For the first time since the 1992 summer games, NBC Nightly News LOST to ABC in both weeks of the ratings race. What’s more, is that NBC’s numbers are down compared to last year, even with the lift it’s supposed to get from the Olympics.

    That all said, NBC continues to win in the all important 25-54 demo.

    Airing out of pattern, the events in Florida, the gun debate that followed, and Lester getting sick did not help.

  10. Olympics shouls go back to abc like before also nbc has olympics till 2032

    In addition to ABC, ESPN would handle most of the coverage. Do you want to see Mike and Jamielle hosing Primetime coverage? #BECAREFULWHATYOUWISHFOR

  11. They do, I wonder if the news events that happened caused him to come home early. Lester is the type of guy that will be the first to be there and the last to leave.

    I wonder if Lester is planning for a newscast from Florida.

  12. According to this map I found, it doesn't quite get to the TX line; McCurtain Co., OK and the SW counties of AR that border TX are part of Shreveport-Texarkana.

    I have attached this map of Arkansas showing each county in relation to their DMA. There are 7 DMAs within The Natural State and are as follows:

    Purple: Memphis - DMA 50

    Magenta: Little Rock - DMA 58

    Brown: Springfield, MO - DMA 75

    Green: Texarkana - DMA 83

    Blue: Fort Smith - DMA 98

    Pink: El Dorado - DMA 137

    Red: Jonesboro - DMA 182

    As for the Fort Smith DMA, in addition to the Arkansas Counties, it does spill over into Le Flore & Sequoyah Counties in Oklahoma. As a matter of fact, KHBS' stick is located near Poteau, Oklahoma.

  13. There was an operating relationship between KTWO and KGWC and KLWY/KFNB. All these stations are being acquired.

    The same sort of DMA mess that characterizes this region is spreading. I have no idea what the end product is. What is clear is that there will be only one company producing TV newscasts in Wyoming. Gray and Legacy will be the only companies owning commercial TV stations licensed to Wyoming.

    There is one other station, KQCK RF 11 currently owned by the Christian Television Network. The drawback is that this station's stick is in Fort Collins and targets Denver. I wonder if anyone would have the guts to purchase this station and move it into Wyoming.

  14. In Nebraska, everything west of the Sioux City and Omaha markets should be part of a single Lincoln-North Platte-Kearney market. The North Platte DMA would be eliminated.

    The only companies that would be capable of making this work are Gray and Sinclair as they appear to have the most invested in the region. Here's what I see this working:

    • NBC: KNOP & KNEP would become satellites of KSNB with Western Nebraska centric commercials and newscasts.
    • CBS: The KOTA simulcast is replaced by a satellite of KOLN on the Sidney sick.
    • ABC: The KSTF sick is potentially acquired by Sinclair and used as a satellite for KHGI.
    • FOX: As with the other KHGI stations, KFXL would join the Scottsbluff stick, taking the FOX affiliation from KIIT.

    I can see under this scenario, this can end Western Nebraska's dependence on Denver with Scotts Bluff & Cherry joining the newly enlarged DMA.

  15. Wait, why are Johnson and Campbell counties Denver when the counties below them are Casper??

    IDK, you need to take that one up with Nielsen. I used a Nielsen map I found on a Google search. Nebraska is not much better as seen here. 875686371_NebraskaTVMarkets.png.414aa64c8ce6b9563e878218ee57292c.png

    The Red is Scotts Bluff County, the Denver Counties are in Orange, Cherry County is in the Sioux Falls, SD DMA while the Sioux City, IA Counties are in Purple.

  16. Since we're talking about television on Wyoming, I made this color coded map showing which TV market each county is currently assigned.

    Key:

    Red = Cheyenne DMA 197

    Green = Casper DMA 198

    Orange = Denver DMA 17

    Blue = Rapid City DMA 170

    Purple = Billings DMA 167

    Gold = Idaho Falls DMA 162

    Pink = Salt Lake City DMA 30

    723127823_WyomingTVMarkets.png.964e8d6797e45a5ff95d055b0ff2a1a0.png

    The reason I made this is to see whether the Cheyenne and Casper should merge to create one Wyoming centric market. I just wonder if it's feasible for the Denver market counties to be annexed to create such a market.

    Don't get me started on Sheridan County being an exclave of the Rapid City DMA, or that the Cheyenne is an emclave of the Denver DMA.
