Let's not forget that in 1980, Silverman was responsible for pulling the plug on three daytime game shows; Hollywood Squares (Marshall), Chain Reaction (Cullen), and

High Rollers (Trebek) in favor for a 90-minute daytime show which only lasted four months.

NBC kept one game show in its daytime lineup, Wheel of Fortune (Chuck & Susan).

We have yet another Tegna station dumping a traditional newscast (sigh..)

KTVB has officially launched "The 208" in the 5pm timeslot and it's meant to take a conversational approach to the news of the day

    https://www.ktvb.com/article/news/local/208/ktvb-new-show-208-brian-holmes-idaho-news-smart-honest-perspective/277-3403d71b-5f5c-4c67-8b1f-021fd2f2d750

I'm not entirely sure what the 208 is referred to since I'm not from the area but all I will say is it's either going to work the way KUSA's "Next" has worked or it's going to be an epic disaster.

It appears that KTVB took the title The 208 after the title 207 at News Center Maine as 207 is Maine's area code while 208 serves Idaho.

While most of his NBC efforts were his kryptonite (and not out-sucked until Jeff Zucker was in charge), he was a legend who redefined CBS and brought ABC into prominence in the 70s.

He had a mess at NBC to clean up after some costly bombs before his tenure and losing the 1980 Summer Olympics to the US not participating.

NBC got The Facts of Life out of the deal!

My thinking is that NBC would only add that fifth hour of Today if Sony ends production of Days of Our Lives because there's no way NBC takes away the 11am or 12pm slots from the affiliates (and certainly not the 2pm or 3pm slots either)

Days of our Lives can also be banished to cable, USA, Bravo, or E!.

Wow, that's a complete shocker. Maybe they realized how boring their current graphics were for a Super Bowl.

Question is if the new graphics permeate into the other sports properties or if they pull an NBC/ESPN and give their NFL coverage a completely separate look from everything else.

Should these new graphics make their the other Fox Sports properties, would Fox then issue an ultimatum to Sinclair to re-brand the RSNs ASAP?

The only way they'll get the fifth hour if "Days of Our Lives" goes bye-bye.

My thoughts exactly, although, here in the Southern Plains, KFOR, KTEN, KJRH, and KXAS all have one hour midday newscasts, with that, it would be either the news goes or Days goes.

Yeah, but it's all still Tribune's in-house garbage being replaced.

Anyone with a former Tribune station has to do this, regardless of how old or new the facility is. The WREG engineers are probably too busy planning out installs of their own new toys to care.

I wonder how much of a mess Nexstar had to clean up at KFOR.

Calling it now, Tegna will buy Cox in a 3 way merger between those 2 and Standard Media at some point either this year, next year or later on in the 2020s.

In order for a Cox-Tegna marriage to work, divestitures would be needed in Atlanta, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Memphis, Seattle, and Spokane.

So follow-up regarding the KCPM deal, which has been going on for almost two years.

They posted an amendment tonight and they're now in a process of filing a "failed station waiver" to acquire the station.

This is because FCC ordered last month to go back enforcing the 2016 ownership rules after the Third Circuit struck down Pai's 2017 dereg order last fall.

Since this deal was announced, Raycom, WWNY, KECY, and WVIR have come and gone, among others. Should this deal not happen, my logic says that KCPM along with KXJB should go to Nexstar thus placing the KX stations back under one roof.

The latest on Apollo vs. Dish:

Note that this only affects the recently acquired Northwest Broadcasting stations. A temporary restraining order has been granted barring the removal of the legacy Cox stations.

I know that DISH has a new agreement with the legacy COX stations from March 2019, thus I'm leading to believe that the issue with the NWB stations either merging them into the COX agreement or making a new agreement with all the Apollo stations. I also wonder whether the prolonged NWB/AT&T dispute in 2019 resulted in a agreement that included all the Apollo stations.

It’s most likely just a political ad ploy... it’s unlikely they’ll start any kind of news department at all...

Florida (29 EVs), Georgia (16), Michigan (16) can be in play this cycle as these states can very well decide the election.

KXAS still uses their own chopper, Texas Sky Ranger. While KDFW, WFAA and KTVT have a shared news chopper.

Meanwhile, 200 miles to the north, KFOR (Nexstar), KOCO (Hearst), and KWTV (Griffin) have birds.

Nexstar officially opened its Jefferson City bureau today. Jeff Bernthal from KTVI is staffing it for this legislative session, but they still plan to hire a permanent MMJ.

Just a thought, The University of Missouri owns KOMU should Nexstar be more interested in Central Missouri.
