  1. NBC News has announced that Lester Holt will be stepping down as anchor of the broadcast after a decade in the anchor chair. He will remain with NBC News, moving to Dateline full-time this summer. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/lester-holt-anchor-nbc-nightly-news-rcna193445?cid=mob_npd_nn_ios_mar
  2. I don't think that's a green screen set. It looks like the actual set. The back floor of the set is a screen.
  3. Not to mention that Weekdays and Weekends have two different production teams.
  4. CBS News 24/7 has been carrying coverage of WUSA, ABC News Live has been doing their own coverage, and NBC News Now has been carrying WRC's coverage when they're not showing Special Report coverage. CBC News is following this as well with The National in breaking news mode, due in part to the passenger plane being a Canadian-made Bombardier CRJ-701 manufactured in 2004.
  5. Another thing to note: the headlines music bed was used during the story teases when going out to the first commercial break. So even if its not being used in its traditional location in the broadcast, it's still being used for something.
  6. I was very pleased with what we watched, and I'll definitely be watching the repeat on CBS News 24/7 later tonight. It's definitely got 60 Minutes meets PBS News Hour meets local news. It was a nice relief to just have the intro going into the A-Block and not have a headlines sequence to open the broadcast. So happy that the 1987 theme is back (in its 2011 remastered version), but I can also agree that it would've been nice to hear the 1991 theme for the first time in 19 years.
  7. Just from this photo alone, I'm getting Studio 1515 (the studio in Times Square) and KCAL/KCNC/WBBM set vibes. The new anchor desk looks exactly like the KCAL/KCNC/WBBM anchor desks (just without the wood border around the front screen), the walls of screens are similar to the walls of screens in Studio 1515, and the color of the wood floor and some structural elements are similar to the KCAL/KCNC/WBBM sets.
  8. Hopefully its just for the logo, given that Face The Nation, 48 Hours, and 60 Minutes haven't changed anything major on their logos (or just subtle tweaks) since the 2020 rebrand occurred. But, looking at the serif font used, it's the same one used on the CBS News website and app.
  9. KDKA finally got news mic flags, although unlike all of the others that use the call sign square, the entire mic flag is black.
  10. A minor change to the weather graphics for KDKA happened last night, the title bar with the gold line underneath has now been replaced with a full width white title bar. I'm not seeing it show up on the other O&Os.
  11. From what Hoda said in her letter to the Today Show team, it's just that she wants to have more time with her daughters and mom, and that it is time to try something new. Again, she's just leaving Today. She's not leaving NBC.
  12. That is a pretty nice new set. Even though it’s new, it builds upon the style and structure of the previous set.
  13. I agree. It’s a nice evolution of the diagrid graphics (even if the diagrid isn’t fully visible in the new ones), and they do fall in line with the teaser graphics that have been rolled out over the past few months.
  14. Just reading up on it, and it feels like CBS is trying to do what the CBC did with The National back in the fall of 2017 after Peter Mansbridge retired that summer (minus the 4 person rotation of anchors).
  15. And they incorporated the stars from the city's flag into the graphics.
