Scrolling through the guide on PlutoTV, I noticed the logo for WeatherNation actually read "WeatherNation Los Angeles" (my location), and upon selecting the channel I saw that it featured a localized L-bar with static, local time that cycled through cities in the region with current conditions and a 5-day forecast, along with a "local weather on the 7's" in the video feed (which isn't *quite* on the 7's given the stream lag). I compared it with the WeatherNation app on my Roku, and their app (while offering a local forecast on their landing screen) still only offered the national WN feed.

While I don't love the fact that WN is a corporate sibling to "Real America's Voice", I don't exactly love FOX Weather's sister channel either (and don't get me started on the Byron Allen scripted courtroom shows...), moreover I do appreciate all the options we now have for weather information, particularly in this case, localized weather info. I know localized versions of WN are available sporadically OTA,  but I'm happy to see this wider distribution via means such as Pluto.

I imagine most of the major cities will have localized WN available on Pluto, but I'm curious as to what some of you might see when checking it out for yourselves.

Not to sound Naive here---Real America's Voice, what is that??  I've never heard of it or seen it.   Is it similar to One America News?

Great Day Colorado has been on KWGN for almost a year now while KDVR has had 4pm news for a while now too. Those are nothing new.

Did Great Day Colorado replace Colorado's Best??      What is new is that the 4 Pm  is now an hour news cast, used to be 30mins.

That’s temporary until the midterm elections are over. At least it’s supposed to be. If they did decide to keep it, I could see them moving Tamron to 10am and dropping Kelly Clarkson…but I’m not sure who would pick up Kelly Clarkson…WXIA probably would if JHud got cancelled. It not maybe WAGA but might have to be relegated to WUPA or WPCH.

I don’t remember Goldbergs being on KTVD last season

The Goldbergs had been airing at Midnight M-Th on KTVD since January.

Out of the Denver stations  KDVR & KWGN have the most changes year over year followed by KUSA & KCNC.  This is one of the bigger changes to lineups that I can remember in recent memory for the Denver tv stations.  As per usual KTVD, KWGN & KCDO are the dumping grounds for most of the syndicated programing in Denver market.  I think that KCNC adding back news @9AM is a big deal as well as NBC NEWS Daily over on KUSA it gives both stations some opportunities to add news programing to the lineup.  Ring Nation is not cleared here in Denver.   I kinda wish KUSA would drop Colorado & Company it's pay to play program and shift the TODAY 4th hour into it's proper time slot and add more newscasts, but wishful thinking on my part.   And having Dateline on during the middle of the day seems odd to me, I know most NBC Stations are doing it but wow, strange.

  4. At 1:22 & 1:52 PM  KUSA cut in with an update.  These news updates were 5mins each, typically a "TODAY SHOW" news update is around 2:30 mins.    I wasn't expecting a local news update to be honest.

I'm curious are other stations doing local news cut ins?

  5. NewsNation is pathetic when it comes to breaking news, hell Thursday, "NewsNet" & One America News were both covering the news out of the UK regarding the Queen.   At this point it's fair to say News Nation is simply a pass through news network focused on only domestic news and a poor one at that.

NO ONE I know watches News Nation, no one I know has ever heard of News Nation.

This is a bit old, but Westword wrote again about KDVR/KWGN departures. They basically transcribed some brief podcasts a reporter did last November describing her brief five years in TV news. She added a July 2022 update about waiting tables in Winter Park (she now works in marketing for the resort). "Devastating takedown" is not how I would describe it. Some people can handle the life and some people can't.

KDVR & KWGN have been loosing a lot of folks the past few months.  And from what I can tell they currently have 7 on-air positions open right now all for the FOX Side of the operation-KDVR/KFCT.  They also have 9 technical slots open (Photographer, Master Control, ect for KWGN & KDVR/KFCT).   I have been following all of the departures on my blog over the past several months.

  7. News Nation, behind on the news!!!

    Saw this gem today 🤣:

The Atlantic Hurricane season started June 1st.    There weather department may want to go check in with the folks over at Weather Nation, so they know what's happening in the tropics.

  8. Interesting move!   Here in Denver KUSA will time shift the new news program to 2PM Day's Of Our Live's current time shifted slot.   I'm sure it's so they don't have to mess with Daily Blast Live.

I see two possibilities for KCNC Denver: CBS News Denver Now OR CBS News Colorado Now. But either way, sounds like a mouthful to say.

It will be CBS News Colorado, they are already headed in that direction with the streaming service.   I'm thinking sometime in the fall they will rebrand the newscasts to CBS News Colorado.

  10. It would be interesting to know how many folks along Colorado's front range will ever tune into Oxygen because it's on a sub channel of KDEN-TV Telemundo Denver and not on KUSA-TV  I would love to see ratings for it.

Since I'm sure the coverage was live in all time zones, what did network affiliates in the western time zones (Pacific, Mountain, Alaska, Hawaii) do for primetime?

KUSA, KCNC, & KMGH carried the network special reports live.   Then dumped out into regular network programing in progress afterwards at around 8:15PM MDT.

Why Only 3 years. Really Nexstar? BTW, Happy Birthday @DENDude.

Thank you for the birthday wishes!  As far as I'm aware it's a full re-do.

The question I have is is this a "refresh" (small modifications) or is this a full replacement.

If its the latter, I find it unusual for a station to replace a set this quickly.

As far as I'm aware It's a full re-do, set to be finished sometime mid to late June.   I believe nexstar wants to maybe have there style for the studio instead of Tribune's style.   That is my guess.

  13. KDVR/KFCT FOX31 is now on the KWGN set starting today with the FOX31 NEWS @4PM. It's unknown currently how long they will be using the KWGN set. The studio & set were last updated in Spring of 2019 by Design Group International. For now it appears this is only an update for the FOX side.  No word on if KWGN will be updated after FOX is finished.

  14. Well, it will be interesting to see how they utilize the truck during May when severe Weather starts happening more.    But at what point do these vehicles become too much of a distraction from actually Forecasting and watching severe weather??
