PS: My money is still on Rafael for mornings at TINY.

Unless they changed or re-shot it, this should be it.
No change to talent opening selection. I could only think they are bring it back for Diana since retirement is on the horizons for her.
14 hours ago, wabceyewitness said:Looks like WABC brought back the 5pm talent open. For years now, it has just been the short intro to quickly transition between the 4pm and 5pm newscasts. I wonder if they are doing this as a nod to Diana Williams. She returned from vacation today for her final 10 weeks before she retires.
I agree with this!
14 hours ago, 24994J said:Did they ever actually use the 5 o'clock talent open for these graphics before now? I know it was posted to the station's Vimeo account ahead of the package debuting, but I thought they only had the short open, at official launch.
I believe these graphics are used from time to time ( I could be wrong). However, as everyone here has indicated that there's a quick transition from 4P to 5P as the anchors swap. This is around the 4:50-4:55PM period.

Alison Morris out from WNYW- Fox 5..
Per article from Variety Magazine: https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/nbc-news-alison-morris-anchor-1203257274/

Preferably , I like those CBSN New York graphics better. It has a nice feel to the AM program.
12Noon cast: Alex > Mary > Elise.
I kinda said this the other day. But WCBS-TV needs to focus on getting new traffic talent to have a sub for Alex when she anchors for Chris Wragge. At least make an attempt to snatch one traffic anchor from another CBS O&O, (KYW or Upstate Albany perhaps). However, easier said than done only b/c one would have to understand New York City, NJ- (Trenton- Del Water Gap) and lower Connecticut traffic- (Stamford, Bridgeport, New Haven)

I meant to post this on Friday: Tamsen and John reunited briefly at 10... John was in for Kori

Possibly the first of its kind anchor pairing this morning.., Alex Stokes anchored with her mother Lori Stokes on Good Day NY.. filled in for Rosanna
Is Alex freelancing for WNYW. Wow, Mom and Daughter working in the Anchors desk. A definite 1st of its kind.
These Fox O&O's need to fix their websites at once.

For those who are in the DC metro area (like myself). Barbara Harrison has left WRC after 38 years = Retirement of some sorts.
However, she will do specials with WRC.
One of the best DC anchors alongside Pat Lawson-Muse.

So. Tuesday is Chris Cimino's official last day. Although, I didn't get a chance to see the last hour of TINY this morning
This morning pairings was a bit different: Darlene > Gus > Emily > Chris.
Maybe one day, just one day I'd like to see Tracie or Katherine anchor TINY in replacement of Darlene or Michael.
I believe either 1 has anchored News at 11 or the old News 4 at Noon. (Someone verify this please).

If the set currently for News 12 Westchester/Hudson Valley located in Yonkers or on Long Island?
News 12 Long Island = Woodbury Crossings
News 12 Westchester/Hudson Valley = Yonkers
News 12 Bronx/Brooklyn = Soundview
News 12 Connecticut = Stamford* (Don't quote on this one).

My guess is that Rafael will take over TINY and someone will take his spot on weekend mornings. Erica probably takes over for Janice whenever she retires.

Didn't WNBC get someone from sister station Telemundo not too long ago?

Just seen old WNBC Weekend alum anchor Contessa Brewer now at CNBC doing the (CNBC AM Money report)
Glad she's doing well at CNBC.

This seems so ridiculous. The segment is only important because of the talent, not because of the information being presented?
Not sure if I mentioned this earlier but I would be in favor of eliminating regular traffic reports on newscasts. First of all, it doesn't affect a lot of the audience. (I have no idea what the percentage might be. Wish I had more data.) Second, my guess is that, by the time you get to the area of the incident, it'll be different. A slowdown caused by a normal accident might have been solved. A new incident may have popped up. Traffic on radio seems to make way more sense. (Not to mention Google Maps and Waze.) Of course, if there's a major incident, that could be reported more as a news story, perhaps with the chopper.
But traffic reports shouldn't be dependent on whether the traffic anchor is available. It should be based on the need of the segments.
WABC does a good job when it covers traffic and traffic breaking news. This morning there was a traffic breaking news with 75 min delays on the GWB including a 3 car fender on the West Side Highway coming off the bridge and they were first on scene.
On the radio side: WCBS Newsradio 880 is definitely the best when it comes to traffic coverage.
I feel WCBS is lacking the talent of traffic reporters since WABC and WNBC seems to be doing pretty well when it comes to that part of the department. Do all 3 stations share the same chopper heliport in Linden NJ?

What does Dave get bumped up to if Rafael gets TINY? No one thinks Erica gets a promotion? I see Erica as Janice’s replacement when she goes. I don’t rule out Bill Evans taking over. Why not? Because I would think WNBC would announce Chris replacement along with his retirement announcement. Perhaps WNBC dumped Chris for Bill especially with Sam Champion at WABC. Maybe it’s a forced retirement. Just a possibility.
I don't think Cimino's retirement is forced.. He spent 24 years at one station. Never having to leave and go against a rival station and plus Chris is on good terms with Management at WNBC . (So definitely no forced retirement here)
However, Erica definitely deserves a promotion and I like her for 5 & 6, possibly Chief Meteorologist after Janice leaves. I give Janice another 5-7 years.
3 scenarios that may happen with Chris replacement:
A) Dave gets bumped up to TINY and Rafael 11AM & 4PM
B) Rafael bump to TINY and Dave keeps 11AM & 4PM
C) Erica bump to TINY* (Wild card), Dave keeps 11AM & 4PM, Rafael stays at weekend TINY.
I'd like to add this: When Chris is out.. 75% of time it's Rafael covering for Chris.

In regard to Jeff not being given enough time to prove himself, he had 18 months and the ratings consistently went down during his tenure. Do we really think that would change? I think Norah O'Donnell should have gotten the job when they axed Scott Pelley. She is the perfect choice. Her recent interview with the CEO of Boeing was amazing. She asks hard hitting questions and doesn't allow the standard "talking points." As for CTM, I just dont think Tony and Anthony are going to move the needle. They are both great journalists but I'm sorry Anthony is boring and Tony is too young for the typical CBS audience. CBS needs a marquee name to shake things up. They should have gone after Ann Curry and Anderson Cooper.
Don't want to speak negatively on this. However, Ann Curry and Anderson Cooper won't bring the ratings for CTM to #1 status. The days of Harry Smith and Paula Zahn are long over. CTM has gotten better throughout the years. However, most of the younger audience and your 25-54 audience are watching GMA and Today. You could have all the new technology, new graphics. However, what's missing with CTM is that old 59th and 5th location and among other things.
Nora: Excellent journalist. Evening news will see a bump slightly in the ratings. Will definitely have work to do with Lester (NBC), and David (ABC).

Chris working alone today at Noon today. No Mary.

Really? Cause Bill Evans specifically said numerous times he’s in talks with other stations and will return... but ya know “not happening”
and Dave could easily get TDINY and Rafael the 11 and 4.. pretty easy move if you ask me..
In this situation WNBC would likely keep this in house.
Bold underline: I could see this possibly happening also. However, definitely Dave and Rafael getting bumped up.

First thing I thought was a potential landing spot for Bill Evans.
Bill is not leaving Sag Harbor to travel westbound on the LIE to Rock Center. Forget that notion, and not happening..

Sorry to say this but I don't like John Elliott working for WNBC. He's good with CBS.
Interesting AM combo for 6/26:
Jen Maxfield in for Darlene
Emily in for Lauren
Rafael in for Chris.
If I were a bettor in this situation I see Chris Cimino weather spot replaced by Rafael and not Dave.
Yes, Dave has the morning show experience. However, I wouldn't want him (Dave) working 12 hour days, but for ratings. Dave would be the guy.
Rafael currently does Weekend TINY. Moving him to AM TINY boosts his profile.

First Jummy, now Chris. Just shy of making 25 years at the station. (didn't see this coming). Hopefully, they put Rafael in the AM!

Jummy Olabanji give her goodbye at the end of the 6 PM newscast. She's moving to mornings at sister station WRC in July.
She's gonna be missed. However, a great opportunity to return back to her roots in the DMV and staying at the network. AM & Breaking news desk at WRC. Overall, great journalist.
EDIT: Jen Maxfield in for Stacy this morning (11AM) news.

LOL. It seems to me Liz gets a lot of time off vs. Sade. IJS.
Today, Friday, Ken & Lauren @ Noon.
The accuracy of this post!........
So far no beef in the newsroom in regards to that. Liz gets Bill status
However, when you are #1 in all categories there's always room for everyone to take a day off or 2.
Lauren getting time in the anchors chair. Very nice!

Interesting anchor line up today:
Noon: Rob Nelson and Lauren Glassberg
4pm: David and Lauren
5pm: Lauren and Sade
6pm: David
11pm: (assuming) David and Sade
I KNOW Shirleen is off the noon until after the baby.. Bill and Liz are off.. but I’m just sayin it’s interesting to see the diff line up today
That is correct.. David and Sade was on Thursday night..
Tidbit: Friday AM newscast: Ken > Shirleen > Jeff (in for Sam) > Alex Lee (in for Heather) on traffic.

Dick Brennan in the Anchor chair this noon today- subbing for Chris Wragge.

She isn't traveling that far.......
Down I-95 (Maryland Turnpike) back to Baltimore. Nice pickup for WJZ. I guess it's too early to tell. However, will she do weekend weather?
WNBC - News 4 New York

Posted
1) Erica did 11AM
2) Rafael currently does weekends (AM) and she does Weekends (PM).. However, if the wildcard is Erica to do TINY.. Than its all weekends for Rafael. AM and PM.
