Find it odd the morning after severe storms, that caused major flooding in some areas, WCBS had no full traffic reports this morning.

Alex was not there today and they only did a few quick "Commuter Alert" segments.

    CBS2 being cheap right now.....

Dick Brennan did the recorded sports report this morning. Did he do the sports report last night?1554581661_Video017.thumb.jpeg.1a3c4cbae1266249a5f2108b5022f3bb.jpeg

I always thought Otis Livingston does the recorded sports segments, that's unless he's on vacation and Dick Brennan is subbing, However, very nice screen shot.

  3. Interesting story: NBC Connecticut Political reporter Max Reiss is leaving to serve in Ned Lamont's administration starting Monday 7/22/19.

I don't know how I feel about political reporters working on the dark side in State politics.

The last reporter that did the transition from reporter to political administration was John Miller from WNBC-TV/CBS News/ABC News.

So I have a question maybe someone can answer.. For example WABC has Alex Lee fill in whenever Heather is off.. Alex Lee is also heard on 94.7 (NYs Country) and a few others.. Christina Stoffo (who used to anyway) fill in for Ines on FOX 5 is heard on KTU, Z100, Lite FM etc.. obviously the same traffic provider for each station, respectively.. WCBS has radio stations with the same parent company as WCBS-TV.. no?? So why not use Patty Steele from 101.1 or someone from 880.. even if they just sit at the desk or stand at a monitor wall.. Hell, even use a field reporter. But anyway if someone could answer the radio question that would be great.. I’m kinda interested

For WCBS.. It's called $$$$$ savings in the traffic department. It's easier to have an inhouse anchor do the traffic rather than a dedicated traffic reporter. Although Alex Denis is shown in the main promos doing traffic.  Tri-State area traffic isn't really hard to understand. However, when you have all the stations reporting almost the same traffic everyday than I could see why WCBSTV doesn't have a dedicated traffic person.

PS: New WCBSTV promo now features Elise. Along with Chris, Mary, Alex.

  5. Noticed that Pix 11 picked up a new freelance reporter: Alicia Nieves. She's been with the station since April.

Previously from CBS3 Philadelphia- General Assignment reporter.

Due to the Manhattan power outage, WNBC is doing their 11 PM newscast from WNJU Telemundo 47.

There are no graphics and the color of the video does not look right.

WNJU needs a major make over.

PS: George Spencer from CAU now at WNBC (General Assignment reporter). Started- Saturday.

  8. 7/11 AM line up for today:

Ken > Michelle > AMY  (Sam off until Monday) 😂

No, WABC seems to have a rhyme and reason to when they air talent opens.

They almost never air at 5pm or 11pm.. presumably to keep viewers during the transition from 4-5pm and from prime time to news.

They always air at 4:30am, 5am, 6am, noon and 6pm unless the producer opts for the Breaking News open

    Accurate...

Jennifer Lahmers, cohost of Good Day Wake Up, with Sukanya Krishnan, since 2017, is leaving Fox 5 for “Extra.”

Now those Good Day Wake up bus ads can stop for a bit in New York City...

Who's been taking Jennifer spot as of late or is Suki doing the show by herself?

  10. I didn't know where to post this on this side of the forum.

However, WTTG started their 4PM newscast yesterday and they BOMBED BADLY.  According to FTV. (I believe it too)

Angie Goff from WRC and Blake McCoy from NBC News- Chicago Bureau are the lead anchors for the 4PM news.

I mean not all debuts of a 4PM newscast will look flawless. However, the newscast suffered some technical difficulties, an misspell on an reporter doing reporting in Potomac with the dangerous mass floods which crippled most of the city yesterday.

Plain and simple.. It's Day 1 and they got tons of work to do. Beating the other DC metro stations are no easy fate as most watch WRC News 4 at 4, 5,6, and 11 and WUSA Channel 9 at 5.

A lot of stations around the early 2010s decided to add “breaking news anchors”. Here in Baltimore and it sounds like elsewhere it’s a glorified reporter that stays in the studio and is the primary fill in.

    This I agree.

I could be wrong, but WCAU has Vai before he comes on the air, and then Lucy after Vai takes over in the co-anchor chair. In the 4pm and 5pm Jim usually fills that role (occasionally Keith at 4pm and Jackie at 5pm.

WNBC used to have Karry Barrett handling that in the mornings before she left.

You may be right with both WNBC and WCAU

Right now WCAU it's usually with the anchor alternates after each news cast.

WNBC: At times I've seen either Michael G, David Ushery or Jonathan Dienst doing Breaking news-Live Anchor desk. (However, rarely used in New York City)

    Whatever happened to Kerry Barrett?

  13. Jummy Olabanji has now started at WRC as the Breaking News-Live Desk Anchor as of 7/1. (homecoming of sorts).

Previously at WJLA & WNBC TV has now returned home to DC.

Her bio is still on WNBC-TV.

I know for sure WNBC and CAU don't have Breaking News-Live Desk Anchors (Correct)???

Totally random, but I was looking up David Novarro's time in Chicago the other day. In the process, I discovered that he'll be turning 60 this fall. Doesn't look like it, sound like it, act like it, so I never realized it. Everyone talks about Mike replacing Bill, but there might be other slots opening up, too, before too long.

I meant to answer this yesterday (Friday). However, David Novarro has plenty in the tank left and I don't forsee any retirement for him anytime soon.  (This is my overall opinion on the Bill situation). Bill Ritter I say another 5 years at least before he retires. New York anchor talent is shrinking and you gotta keep the good ones from leaving. Retirement is one thing. However, if it's backdoor conversations that can be resolved including contracts (we) has forum members have no say since this is management. All we can do is offer opinions to certain outcomes (to a degree).

News 12 is exclusive to Altice subscribers.  I don’t know if Altice operates in South Jersey - if they do they I don’t see them giving it to Comcast.

I believe the cutoff for Altice/Cablevision in Jersey is in Central part of the state..

Comcast country starts in Trenton and expands throughout most of PA. (Correct me if I'm wrong on this)

The CBSNNY ticker is better.  I hate endless scrolls.  This is more of a "flipper" in most parts.  But it's too slow animating between sections.  A seven-day forecast for multiple towns seems a bit much.  I think it'd be better if it was a today/tonight/tomorrow type of thing with a few words describing the weather, not just icons and high temps.

Also, the ticker doesn't match the lower thirds. The time and temperate doesn't line up with the CBS 2 bug.

But the CBSNNY graphics have been creeping up on TV.  They use the same look in full screens, maps, and the "credit" graphic on the upper left.

By the way, they still use the scrolling ticker during CBS This Morning.

I'm happy that CBS2 is now incorporating the CBSNNY Ticker. However, less clutter is needed.

Modify the weather portion to only: Central Park, JFK/LGA/EWR, Rutgers Piscataway-New Brunswick and Connecticut (Weather reading offices only)

Other than what you mentioned- I agree.
