.... This is a hard sell.  Already WNBC, WCAU and WRC all have 11AM news.. Can't for see them returning back to 12noon news. However, as others indicate if DoOL get's canned than it's possible.

WRC already has a 1 hour block for news meanwhile the other 2 have 30 min news with lifestyle shows at the bottom of the hour. Someone correct me if WTVJ has 11AM or 12noon news?  Unless it's breaking news or any hard news content like the 1st hour, than a 5th hour isn't really needed.  MSNBC with it's scheduling mambo jumbo does a good job covering the rest of the day with hard news.  Only thing I see that NBC is taking notes from ABC's success with GMA.

A 7PM newscast would not work at WMAQ or KXAS because that is when network programming starts. Chicago and DFW already have 6PM newscasts which is the 7PM equivalent to the east coast stations.

You are correct on that.  For right now be grateful that MSNBC is taking over with all day impeachment coverage. However, from what I'm observing the O&O's are doing the actual 1PM coverage until local news in the afternoon (From what I saw yesterday with WNBC)  They cut into the impeachment coverage to do news at 4, 5, and 6. Again, uncertain if they did a 7PM newscast for re-cap.

When did WNBC start a 7pm newscast?

The guide still shows Access Hollywood but News 4 at 7 has been on all week.

I’d have guessed this was impeachment related but it’s a standard newscast... no special coverage.

I'm going to go with the consensus that it is only for impeachment coverage. However, if not all the NBC O&O's have some sort of "special coverage" this week. Let's see if the 7PM newscast expands to next week with all the O&O's including WNBC.

CBS3 has had a few different meteorologists filling in this week on the evening broadcasts.  On Sunday, they had Vanessa Murdock from CBS NY do the forecast remotely.   Monday & Tuesday, Justin Drabick filled in.  Today, Chelsea Ingram is back in Philly to do the forecasts.  I believe Kate Bilo is on vacation and I guess Lauren Casey is as well.

No wonder. They have 3 full time meteorologists.  I mean other CBS O&O's  have at least 4 to 5.  At least the good news is that they didn't have to go far at all.

Is Matt Peterson still doing AM's?

Having the LA studio continues to make less and less sense for ESPN. They just cut back the amount of usage for their NBA coverage there this year, now they lost SC Coast to Coast.

It's basically only used for 4-5 late night SportsCenters per week, one or two days of NBA coverage per week, and I believe their daily show The Jump.

Just too many cuts with ESPN. Cari was a very good host. Enjoyed her Uber commercials with some of the best NBA elite.

I could see Maria Taylor being next to leave if cuts continue.

At this point get rid of the LA studio, and why even build a studio remotely to PTI in DC..

Good news is that some of that NBA coverage will return on Saturdays starting 1/18 beginning at 3:30, going into primetime on ABC and a late night game on ESPN.

  6. More MSNBC news: TV Newscheck and the New York Post are reporting that Chuck Todd could lose his 5PM slot to Nicole Wallace since her show-Deadline White House catches more of the 25-54 demographic and which peaked at 2 Million viewers in 2019. Although Chuck has the #1 Sunday political show peaking at 3 Million viewers I don't suspect that Chuck would like the 9AM slot for MTP Daily during the week.

Stephanie Ruhle now NBC Senior Business Correspondent per this article from AdWeek:

Her 9AM slot is about to be open. Interestingly, I would like to see which show or anchors they will shuffle for MSNBC live.

I don’t see a move from TSS. Disney owns the building outright and as long as ABC keeps paying they’ll remain.  Additionally it’s in a tourist area - like 30 Rock.

I should add from the renderings I’ve seen of the new development there really is no area for outdoors space like Times Square. There are some terraces between “tower blocks” but the hassle of of bringing an audience crow through security up through a building for a short period of time seems like a hassle (even though they do it for the second hour of GMA and GMA3).

So technically would this mostly be a WABC move from 67th and Columbus to Downtown + the remaining offices that occupy ABC. I'm in that Hudson Square area and construction has been very active as of late.  Would this also mean that GMA + GMA3 may end up staying at TSS while everyone else is Downtown?.

Let me say this when I made the post I started with. I didn't mean to insinuate they only worked 8 1/2 hours on  air and in between. I know that they commonly have long commutes in and also do lots of prep work. I just feel like Ken & Shirleen shouldn't have to spend 8 1/2 hours on broadcasts (and in between stuff) unless it's stipulated. I legitimately apologize.

Listen, no worries. Although the points are valid you just gotta remember that everyone else may have their own spin of things. Working 8.5 hours a day in the #1 market is no easy fate.
Perhaps WABC doesn't have a breaking news anchor or an anchor who could do cut-ins during the GMA hour while Ken and Shirleen are prepping for the 12 noon newscast.

If you go down the dial to WNBC and WCBS, they have similar situations.

However, in the case of WNBC their morning anchors don't anchor the 11AM news,  they have a breaking news anchor(s), and unless the 11AM anchors are off.

Only WABC and WCBS  have the same morning anchors broadcast the news at noon.

Moving off this topic to another question regarding WABC. Why are there talent opens used at Noon, 4 and 6 but not 5 and 11? Sorry if this has already been mentioned

I kinda find that strange although there's promo of Bill, Sade and Lee at 5:00PM.

That did remind me, what happened to Roseanne Colletti? Her Twitter stopped on 7/30 and her bio's gone, so I'm guessing there's a reason that was nonamicable.

Looks like WNBC making a lot of changes.  With the most updated website they don't have the recent pick ups with exception of Maria LaRosa, and Matt Brickman for their profiles.

Channel 4 has not doing this year's Holiday Sing Along for the first time in 5 years. the most recent cancellation of the Holiday Sing Along promo taping was in 2014, due to bad weather caused by snow. Instead, the station has recycled last year's promo featuring "Deck the Halls", which will be the last NBC4 Holiday Sing Along promo for this decade, but with some alternations including the removal of "The Grinch" animated character, and the removal of Jummy Olabanji, Wale Aliyu and even Chris Cimino, all of which was been released by the station throughout this year, but also added with the Christmas Card-Inspired opening/closing animation for the first time since 2017. newcomers Kay Angrum, Maria LaRosa, Gilma Avalos, Anajali Hemphill, Myles Miller, and Matt Brickman did not included in this year's promo for some reasons.

Did Wale recently leave or did he leave over the summer with Jummy?

Sheinelle Jones is leaving Saturday Today, but will still host the 3rd hour M-F. A rotating list of anchors will sit with Peter Alexander over the next several weeks.

Kristen Welker would make a good Weekend Today host. I mean who else does NBC have in mind?

I wonder when the new MSNBC weekend lineup is coming: they have hired 3 new anchors for it already. They also have Kendis Gibson and Alex Witt

Something tells me that they will shift Kendis Gibson and Alex Witt around.  If they schedule this correctly or both anchors could lose out.

Alex Witt may still keep her 12 noon to 2 slot on the Weekends

Shift Kendis over to weekdays 3-5 with Steph Ruhle.

In the new year Ali Velshi will be leaving daysides and will be hosting his own show from 8-10am on weekends, replacing UP and David Gura will host MSNBC Live from 2-4pm.  It’s up in the air who will take Velshi’s 3pm weekday slot but sounds like Stephanie Ruhle will be staying at 9 and 1pm.

Also didn’t know Velshi taught at Wharton....

Additionally Alicia Menendez will anchor MSNBC Live at 4pm Saturdays and 6PM (bumping a rerun of Meet The Press) Sunday’s.

Would like to know where the Phoenix anchor and Kendis Gibson will fit.

Is her dad: Senator Robert Menendez?

WPIX is expanding its morning broadcasts again. They're adding a 9am hour beginning January 6th.

They're also adding Ben Aaron (from Pickler & Ben) & Marysol Castro as feature reporters.

This will be the third time for Marysol on this show, as she was the traffic anchor in the early 2000s. Then in the Fall of 2013, she was the early morning anchor, until the station cut that 4am hour that following summer.

I just saw the promos for this yesterday.. Good pickups for WPIX.

Hopefully 3x a charm for Marysol. She's a excellent anchor/reporter and I hope this time PIX uses her in a good capacity.

Don't know too much about Ben Aaron,  but what everyone here is saying he's a good pick up. I see good ratings for PIX.

  15. So... FTV is reporting that Chief Meteorologist Tammie Souza is no longer at WCAU/NBC10..

Don't ask why her contract wasn't renewed. She only spent 3 years in Philly and now she is out..
